[Bug 848147] Re: Sync workrave 1.9.4-2 (universe) from Debian testing (main)

[Bug 426185] Re: Gnome-panel fails to load various applets
I still see this intermittently - every 3 or 4 logins roughly, irrespective of whether the login is after a boot. This has persisted over multiple installs (9.10 and 10.04, both x86-64). These were clean installs, not upgrades, with no configuration files copied, either user or system (except Firefox and Conky). I've added several applets over the default (CPU scaling, system monitor, and the xkill-like applet), and the applet affected seems to be random (but usually only one at a time). If a race is suspected: this machine is an i7 (8 virtual cores). What annoys me is the dialogue that appears, offering either to do nothing or permanently remove the applet - a retry button would save most of the hassle if an actual fix is out of the question... gar...@gareth-desktop:~$ lsb_release -a No LSB modules are available. [Bug 447197] Re: Packages with custom /etc/sysctl.d/30-foo.conf files can fail to install: start procps returns exit status 1
Commenting out the following (from comment #11) and reinstalling wine-1.2 solved the problem and resulted in a successful wine installation: kernel.maps_protect = 1 sys.kernel.maps_protect = 1 net.ipv4.ip_always_defrag = 1 I uncommented them afterwards and didn't run 'start procps' at any point. Just commenting out just vm.mmap_min_adr as per comment #30 did not work for me. -- Packages with custom /etc/sysctl.d/30-foo.conf files can fail to install: start procps returns exit status 1 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/447197 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 444767] Re: [karmic] gnome-power-manager does not give "no-action" options for power events
Interestingly, editing the keys using gconf-editor (e.g. setting '/apps /gnome-power-manager/buttons/lid_ac' to 'nothing') adds the 'Do nothing' option to the drop-down list in Power Management Preferences. -- [karmic] gnome-power-manager does not give "no-action" options for power events https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/444767 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 367706] Re: Firefox and epiphany won't start. "Bus error"
Okay, a clean reinstall from the CD fixed all the errors. I then installed the updates, no crash this time, and they all succeeded. The latest Firefox/xulrunner now runs normally. /home is on a separate partition and was not touched by the reinstall, so I should be using the same user-configuration files as before. In my case I think there must have been some file corruption, although which file would apparently only affect xulrunner, and yet persist across reinstalls of the Mozilla packages, I've no idea. The other possibility is that some in-between updates that were skipped this time somehow affected the update process, which could explain why some other people are seeing the bus error. Not sure if this info is of any use to anyone, but there you go. -- Firefox and epiphany won't start. [Bug 367706] Re: Firefox and epiphany won't start. "Bus error"
I've already tried that here in Synaptic, but here's a log of apt-get's output when run from a terminal. The problem persists. I'm going to try a straight reinstall and update, because at the moment I can't tell if this is a bug in the xulrunner package, or an artefact of some sort of corruption due to the crash. I suspect there may be multiple issues on this machine at the moment, so it'll be more useful if I can separate them. ** Attachment added: "apt-get log" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/28111920/terminal.log -- Firefox and epiphany won't start. [Bug 367706] Re: Firefox and epiphany won't start. "Bus error"
And here is the dpkg log. The first error is related to this bug I think. I've tried reinstalling the packages list at the end of the log from Synaptic (after clearing the package cache), but that hasn't helped. I'll provide more info if it'll help (but this is a work machine so I can't do anything too drastic, or put off reinstallation or such too long). ** Attachment added: "dpkg --configure -a" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/28066928/dpkg.log -- Firefox and epiphany won't start. [Bug 367706] Re: Firefox and epiphany won't start. "Bus error"
Ditto. This is Jaunty 9.04, but this time on x86-32 (Pentium 4 with hyper- threading). Firefox etc. used to work fine until I ran the updates this morning, having been away from the office for a week without updating. The system locked up during the kernel update (mouse not moving, Ctrl+Alt+F1 no use etc.). After magic SysRq-s,u,b, I ran dpkg --configure -a or similar, as requested by Synaptic. dpkg failed with an error (attached, as part of it at least relates to this bug). Anyway, I have a system with no nVidia driver (kernel headers are failing to install due to an executable format error, probably not related), and no web access because the new xulrunner is giving a bus error. Attached is the Firefox strace, command as above. ** Attachment added: "Firefox strace" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/28066728/firefox.log -- Firefox and epiphany won't start.
