The issue was that the partitions that were deleted still remained on the places menu. The problem disappeared when the machine was rebooted. Re: [Bug 497219] Re: Playing audio cd - Rhythmbox seems to jump tracks - occassional put-put sound.
Hello Kamus: Thank you for your inquiry. Recently I deleted 9.04 and made a "clean installation" of Lucid 10.04 ( I'm trying to become familiar with Lucid, and to get Totem to play DVD's) . My PC and hardware are unchanged . When playing an audio CD ( using Rhythmbox) the sound "skips / jumps" occasionally. I also have a "clean install" of 8.04 on a separate removable HDD. What is interesting is that when I play the same CD (via Rhythmbox) using 8.04, the sound is OK and does not "skip" or distort ! I hope this is the info you wanted. Re: [Bug 498593] Re: Cannot launch klavaro. Terminal gives Segmentation fault
Good day Pedro. I had no intention of contacting you or your department regarding Klavaro. I am experiencing a number of bugs with my installation of Ubuntu 9.04 - these include Rhythmbox , and Klavaro . It has become clear to me your communications are not intended for beginners ( which is what I am in Ubuntu). Your prior note to me used tech language, which I couldn't understand, and your most recent note is the same ( it doesn't tell me, in a language that I can understand, where I would find the required info / instructions / algorithm to correct the problem) . It seems that I'll have to obtain help to resolve the bugs from some other sorce. Re: [Bug 497219] Re: Playing audio cd - Rhythmbox seems to jump tracks - occassional put-put sound.
Good morning Pedro. Unfortunately I'm a beginner and don't know exactly what it is you're asking me to do. I think you are telling me to enter coded instructions using Terminal. If this is correct, can you please instruct me exactly what it is that I need to type in? I also don't know which application "Totem" refers to - it is "difficult" being a beginner. The Movie Player will not directly open / play the audio disk. When I insert the audio disk (or right click the audio disk image on desk top) and select open with Movie Player , I get a dialog box " An error occurred. Could not open location; you might not have permission to open the file. " . However, when I double click on a CD track using the Audio Disc - File Browser , the Movie Player is launched (!!) and the music plays without any problems. I would appreciate your help and guidance. [Bug 148241] Re: rhythmbox freezing when trying to play an audio CD
I am also having problems with Rhythmbox and playing audio CD's. I am new to Linux and have a stand-alone installation of Ubuntu 9.04 and Rhythmbox 0.12.0.My PC has two DVD-RW drives , one of which has an audio cable connected to the Motherboad. When an audio CD is inserted in #1 DVD (has an audio cable connection to MB) it is not recognized by Rhythm box and my desk top goes black, however, the system does not seem to crash, since I am able to launch some applications ( games), but not others. To restore my desktop color to Brown I re-start Ubuntu (I don't know if there is some other way). Under normal operation, looking at the HDD via Places>Computer, and subsequently inserting an audio CD in my #2 DVD drive, the CD is recognized (tracks & numbers are displayed) - double clicking on a .wav file launches an application (not Rhythmbox) that plays the CD in a separate window. Rhythmbox does not launch , although I've selected Home Folder>Edit>Preferences>Media to "Play Audio CD" when a CD is inserted. Created a roughly 11 GB primary partition on sdb and assigned the rest to an extended partition that contained two or three 11ish GB logical partitions and the remainder to yet another logical partition. The partitions were a mix of ext2/3. 3. Mounted the 11 GB primary partition and one or two of the other partitions through the Places menu. 4. Played some more with gparted and eventually through gparted forced the unmounting of all partitions. 5. Deleted all partitions. 6. Turned the entirety of sdb into a single extended partition. 7. Split the extended partition into two logical partitions both using ext3. 8. Noticed that a menu item '10.5 GB Media' menu item was on the Places menu with the two expected logical partitions.
