[Bug 362104] Re: In Jaunty 9.04 after update on Apr 15 empathy disconnects immediatly after connecting

2009-10-31 Thread Graham Whelan
Ignore my last comment. I've done some more tests trying to make a video
call to a friend running Vista. Outgoing calls seem to work every time
but answering incoming calls sometimes causes empathy to crash with a
segmentation fault. I've attached the empathy log from one of these
crashes.

2009-10-27 Thread Graham Whelan
I'm running Karmic now with empathy 2.28.2-1ubuntu1. I hadn't tried this
in a while so I just did a quick test. When I try to call out it manages
to connect but then disconnects within about 5 seconds. Incoming calls
don't connect at all. I've attached the log file.

[Bug 460468] [NEW] system fails to boot with 2.6.31-14 or 2.6.31-13 kernels

2009-10-25 Thread Graham Whelan
Public bug reported:

My laptop fails to boot with the linux-image-2.6.31-14-generic or
linux-image-2.6.31-13-generic kernels.
I did a fresh install using the Karmic beta DVD and my laptop was able to boot
into the 2.6.31-11-generic kernel. However subsequent updates installed the
2.6.31-13 and 2.6.31-14 kernels which both fail. After selecting either of
these kernels in grub I get stuck on a blank screen with a flashing cursor in
the top-left corner. The screen remains blank and there is no disk activity. If
I select the 2.6.31-11 kernel instead the system boots fine.

I downloaded the Karmic release candidate amd64 desktop iso and this
also fails to boot in the same manner as stated above.

[Bug 458385] [NEW] Shadow of hidden dock type windows is still visible

2009-10-22 Thread Graham Whelan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: compiz

The shadows for windows with the flag WINDOW_TYPE_HINT_DOCK set are
still visible even after the window has been hidden. Also the shadows
for dock windows appear to be drawn below all other windows directly
onto the desktop.

This may be related to the patch:

compiz (1:0.8.2-0ubuntu16) karmic; urgency=low

  [ Travis Watkins ]
  * debian/patches/015_draw_dock_shadows_on_desktop.patch:
- change decoration plugin to draw dock shadows only on the desktop window
instead of on top of all other windows

mentioned in Bug #91786.

I've attached some simple PyGTK code to demonstrate the problem.

Thanks

[Bug 458385] Re: Shadow of hidden dock type windows is still visible

2009-10-22 Thread Graham Whelan
I'm only seeing the problem with my own applications. For example, I'm
writing a launcher app like gnome-do and I'm using the dock type hint
for the main window. I don't expect this to be a priority for anyone as
it probably doesn't affect any users at the moment but I just wanted to
make sure that the errant behaviour is noted and that the bug is
reported.

[Bug 291612] Re: Multimediakeys crashes on pressing

2008-11-12 Thread Graham Whelan
I am experiencing the same issue on a Zepto 6625wd. My system doesn't crash,
but after pressing the up or down volume keys gnome no longer responds to key
presses, although the mouse pointer is still responsive. Gnome becomes
responsive again if I switch to a virtual terminal and then back again.
I was following https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/261721 (of
which this bug was marked as a duplicate) as that bug seemed to be closely
related. However, it seems that the 2.6.27-8 kernel contains a fix for #261721
that has not solved my issue and so this bug report has been removed as a
duplicate.

As stated in the description, it seems that there is a problem with the
generation of the key release event. Running xev from a failsafe
terminal (straight after a reboot) and pressing the volume up key twice
gives:

$ xev

Note that the key release event is only generated when the key is
pressed for the second time.
