[Bug 1832812] Re: Locking and unlocking the screen is slow and stuttery

2020-08-28 Thread Hauke Wintjen
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1872796 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1872796

Disabling 'desktop icons' from the extensions app did not work for me, but
renaming the
folder /usr/share/gnome-shell/extensions/desktop-icons@csoriano did the trick.

The extension was already disabled. After folder renamed, login works
quick again. Thanks

A discussion at https://forum.manjaro.org/t/desktop-gnome-frequently-
get-frozen-few-seconds-and-works-again/81603/29 for manjaro seems to
nail down:

* It looks related to mutter (a gnome desktop component), since some guys
report that the freeze disappears when updating mutter.
* It does not seem to appear under under non-gnome desktop.

** Also affects: gnome-desktop
   Importance: Undecided
   Status: New

[Bug 1806860] [NEW] Pulseaudio module-jack-source unable to connect to jackd2

2018-12-05 Thread Hauke Wintjen
Public bug reported:

When installing jackd2 in ubuntu 18.04, i am unable to load the module-
jack-source.

Syslog gives me:

Dec 5 11:49:45 nvidion pulseaudio[7905]: JACK error >attempt to connect to
server failed<
Dec  5 11:49:45 nvidion pulseaudio[7905]: jack_client_open() failed.
Dec 5 11:49:45 nvidion pulseaudio[7905]: Failed to load module
"module-jack-source" (argument: ""): initialization failed.
Dec 5 11:49:45 nvidion pulseaudio[7905]: JACK error >connect(2) call to
/dev/shm/jack-1000/default/jack_0 failed (err=Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht
gefunden)<
Dec 5 11:49:50 nvidion pulseaudio[7905]: message repeated 5 times: [ JACK
error >connect(2) call to /dev/shm/jack-1000/default/jack_0 failed (err=Datei
oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden)<]
Dec 5 11:49:51 nvidio

So the path to the shared memory location is not as expected.

When jackd2 is running i have:

hcw@nvidion:$ cd /dev/shm/
hcw@nvidion:/dev/shm$ ls
jack-1000-0 jack_sem.1000_default_1000_0_system
jack_sem.1000_default_jack_rack jack_sem.1000_jack_default_1000_0_system
jack-1000-1 jack_sem.1000_default_freewheel
jack_sem.1000_default_qjackctl jack-shm-registry
jack_default_1000_0 jack_sem.1000_default_jack_mixer
jack_sem.1000_default_system

So it seems module-jack-source / sink are guessing the wrong shared memory
paths to the jackd2 server..

[Bug 1192129] Re: BAT0 No such file or directory

2014-12-19 Thread Hauke Wintjen
Affects me too in Ubuntu 14.04 with cpufreqd 2.4.2-2ubuntu1.

Effect is that when AC power is restored, full performance mode is not
endabled so this is a major drawback for laptop users who which to
preserve energy when AC off and gain full performance when AC is on.

See also https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cpufreqd/+bug/642597
and Debian bug https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=495655
.

It sounds like it wasa fixed inDebian version 2.3.3, but it is not
working to restore back full performance mode when AC is back on.
