[Bug 629258] Re: Battery life estimation never comes around

2010-11-02 Thread James White
I downloaded the .deb of the upower patch and it works, even as far as
displaying the time remaining on the battery status indicator. However,
I have noticed since applying the upower patch a bug has cropped up,
where by if my laptop has been on AC power for a while and is then
unplugged, a warning message immediately pops up saying battery level is
critically low and my laptop is about to hibernate, even though the
battery level is 99% and has just started discharging.

After a few seconds my laptop then hibernates regardless if I plug in
the AC adapter again.

I was previously using the patched gnome-power-manager from Brian, but
the bug report has changed to being a problem with upower, so I have
since gone back to the official gnome-power-manager package, do I still
need the modified gnome-power-manager package installed too?

[Bug 661111] [NEW] Disable button not functioning correctly on Synaptics Touchpad

2010-10-15 Thread James White
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics

My disable button for my Synaptics touchpad has never worked correctly
in Ubuntu. From the start the disable button has never functioned.

I managed to find a (sort of) fix to get the button to disable, and that
was to change the keybindings, the default value in gconf-editor did not
correspond to the actual shortcut key. The default value was
XF86TouchpadToggle, however when I created a keyboard shortcut the
disable button registers as Help, so I changed the value of the touchpad
key binding in gconf-editor and my touchpad works, but the problem is, I
have to press the disable button twice to get it to disable and twice to
re-neable it again. So I feel that there is more a persistent problem
with my machine.

My computer is a Compaq Presario CQ60-307EA, with the Synaptics
Touchpad.

[Bug 573101] Re: No video signal after Log out in gnome when multiple users

2010-10-11 Thread James White
I can also confirm that the Maverick drivers on Lucid have solved the
problem.

My users are now able to switch users and the log off without black
screen.

YAY!!

[Bug 645220] Re: gnome power manager doesn't give info about battery state

I have the same problem on a Compaq Presario CQ60-307EA. On lucid the
battery indicator displayed Laptop Battery (% of battery) now it simply
displays Laptop Battery (estimating...).

Also want to add, that after the battery has discharged for a while and
the AC adapter is plugged in again, the battery icon jumps to fully
charged which is of course inaccurate.

Scott, Your doing a great job and appreciate the patch. Ubuntu is a

[Bug 214267] Re: gtk-builder-convert crashes when converting menus

2008-05-11 Thread James White
Hi, another newb with the same problem.

I commented out all of the menuitem in my .glade file and it built and
compiled fine. Then I moved my comment lines until I isolated the
problem.

Glade is adding a property called use_stock to the GtkImageMenuItem
that doesn't seem to belong. By commenting out that property line,
everything works fine (at least so far as I have coded - my menus don't
actually DO anything yet).

[code]
child
   widget class=GtkImageMenuItem id=new_menu_item
  property name=visibleTrue/property
  property name=label translatable=yesgtk-new/property
  property name=use_underlineTrue/property
!--property name=use_stockTrue/property --
   /widget
/child[/code]
