[Bug 727979] Re: Screen flicker approx. every 30 seconds

2011-04-09 Thread Joachim Beckers
Bryce, upstream is right. I had this bug on a fresh install of natty beta 2 and
it was fixed by:
# ps aux | grep upowerd
root 1177 0.2 0.1 77616 4236 ?Sl 19:19 0:03
/usr/lib/upower/upowerd
root 4604 0.0 0.0 11544 1040 pts/0S+ 19:47 0:00 grep
--color=auto upowerd
# kill 1177

Guess this is a upower bug then?

  * Don't complain about absolute symlinks replaced by relative symlinks
pointing to the pyshared directory. Might happen if a user runs
symlinks -c, or a chroot is prepared for use with fakechroot (Ubuntu's
apport retrace service runs in such an environment). LP: #204526.
  * Don't create preinst scripts, if the packages doesn't have any shared

  * On upgrade, remove byte-code files for private modules not existing

[Bug 204526] Re: [hardy] python-gmenu fails to upgrade - pycentral not overwriting files

2008-04-04 Thread Joachim Beckers
Oh, I know why: I run symlinks from time to time to cleanup broken
links, like this:

sudo symlinks -cdrs /

I guess this is the culprit then?

Ari, the crashing is most probably bug 201894. it crashes on startup
from time to time.

[Bug 204526] Re: [hardy] python-gmenu fails to upgrade - pycentral not overwriting files

2008-03-22 Thread Joachim Beckers
I have two fully up-to-date systems (one 32 and one 64 bit), with the
latest python-central. that's 0.6.1ubuntu1

both systems recently were hit by this resolved bug
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/python-central/+bug/192992),
maybe that is the origin of this problem?

note that I don't have any custom python stuff installed, so the not
overwriting error is bogus.

furthermore, if this is a python-central bug, then so are bug #204524
and #204528

[Bug 202437] [NEW] gvfsd-gphoto2 crashed with SIGSEGV in pthread_mutex_lock()

2008-03-15 Thread Joachim Beckers
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gvfs

This bug occurs on hardy with gvfs 0.2.0.1-0ubuntu2 with my sansa e200
mp3-player in msc mode. gvfs starts gvfs-gphoto, so I guess it thinks
the sansa is a camera. I cannot mount the sansa. It shows on its screen
that it is disconnected though, so I can unplug it. Upon doing this,
gvfs-gphoto crashes.

[Bug 175822] Re: [rs690] radeonhd driver segfaults - edid problem on x64

2007-12-13 Thread Joachim Beckers
The packages in you ppa, you mean? Those are not installable (both
depend on xserver-xorg-core and try to remove it). I think because
xserver-xorg-core is versioned 2:1.3.0*.0* in gutsy while in hardy it's
2:1.4.1*~2007...* and radeonhd seems to think 1.3.0.0 is bigger than
1.1.4~2007... or so

Or do you provide packages for hardy? Your ppa page lists them:
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/tormodvolden/ubuntu *hardy* main

about the ppa: that's a bug in lauchpad then. when I first get to the
page it displays hardy, but when activating gutsy in the selection-
thingy, it becomes gutsy (and the same for feisty)

about the hardy packages: I've built from git for now, not tested if it
works yet. but packages for hardy would be cool, at last its the
driver/distro of the future! ;-)

[Bug 175822] radeonhd driver segfaults - edid problem

2007-12-12 Thread Joachim Beckers
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-radeonhd

I'm trying the radeonhd driver on hardy x64 on an asus m2a-vm hdmi mobo.
this board has a RS690 chip with integrated radeon x1250 gpu.

when loading the xserver, radeonhd segfaults. the log is attached.

meanwhile on the screen, it says that it cannot get any edid data.
looking for information on edid, it found that there is no read-edid
package for x64 systems. I'm not sure the driver would need that though.
It might be another issue.

[Bug 127428] Re: very inaccurate package description

2007-08-11 Thread Joachim Beckers
current description:
---

X.Org X server -- VIA display driver
This driver for the X.Org X server (see xserver-xorg for a further description)
provides support for various VIA UniChrome cards, among them: VT3122, VT7205,
VT3108, VT3118, VT3344, VT3157, VT3230 and VT3343.

This driver is originally shipped to be loaded as 'via' on xorg.conf, but this
package renames it to 'unichrome', so it doesn't conflicts with the other VIA
driver already available on Ubuntu.

More information about X.Org can be found at:
URL:http://xorg.freedesktop.org
URL:http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/xorg

This module can be found as the module 'users/libv/xf86-video-unichrome' at
http://gitweb.freedesktop.org/, or alternatively, using git, via the url
git://people.freedesktop.org/~libv/xf86-video-unichrome

proposed alternative:

This driver for the X.Org X server (see xserver-xorg for a further description)
provides full support for the VIA UniChrome VT3122, VT7205 and VT3108

Experimental support exists for the VT3118, VT3344, VT3157, VT3230,
VT3343 graphics chips. More info about this can be found at:
