I just don't understand why the ubuntu repo cannot have the updated
version 0.4.3 as a dep package... Still need to compile that to be able
to use...

[Bug 1875015] Re: Ubuntu 20.04 and Displaylink is extremely slow

2020-05-05 Thread Krisztian Poos
New Displaylink driver is out now:
https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1944022-how-to-install-displaylink-software-on-ubuntu-20-0

However on my Thinkpad T480 and Lenovo USb3 Ultra Dock it is still not
perfect, still I have 1sec lag.

But I think, this is now displayLink driver related, not an ubuntu
related issue, so this butg can be closed? .

[Bug 1875015] [NEW] Ubuntu 20.04 and Displaylink is extremely slow

2020-04-25 Thread Krisztian Poos
Public bug reported:

Using ubuntu 20.04 on displaylink docking with external monitor is
totally slow, unusable. The GUI responds very slow, if you click, the
command of the click goes on after about 3 seconds... if you type, all
the letters are with the same lag, so it is totally unusable.

Was using displaylink without any problem on 19.10 until yesterday, when I
upgraded to 20.04.
It is terrific.

If i plug out the usb for the displaylink docking station, than the
speed is back, and the system is ok, if I connect it to the docking
station again, everything extremely slow again.

Please investigate this asap, as it is unusable on displaylink docking
stations.

[Bug 1218322] Re: Can't set keyboard layout change to alt+shift, ctrl+shift, etc.

2013-12-25 Thread Krisztian Poos
Just some new updates. I have just did a fresh install of 13.10, and tested the
layout settings. It definetely does not work on a fresh install. Alt_shift is
also not able to be set with gsettings, gsettings only works with the
Ctrl_shift toggle. After enabling the proposed updates, it is still not working
for the Alt_Shift. It is working for the Ctrl_Shift. The modifier only iput
switch ppa is the same. after installing it i still cannot use Alt_Shift, only
other shortcuts...
It is really a shame, that gnome developers cannot correct such a bug in so
long time...

[Bug 1218322] Re: Can't set keyboard layout change to alt+shift, ctrl+shift, etc.

2013-11-22 Thread Krisztian Poos
@Norbert (nrbrtx)

Thanks for the hint, I tried this way, and the results are the next.
However the switch to next source shows up at the Input Sources config panel, I
still cannot use Alt-Shift to change the layout. It still only switches the
keyboard indicator in the upper panel to hu, but I still type english
characters... if I use the mouse to change the language on the upper corner to
hu, I can use hungarian characters... If I again use the keyboard shortcut to
change, it does not work again.. So the problem is definitely around the
keyboard shortcuts.

Any suggestions are highly welcome, because this is quite annoying for
me :)

Thanks and regards,
Krisztian

[Bug 1218322] Re: Can't set keyboard layout change to alt+shift, ctrl+shift, etc.

2013-11-22 Thread Krisztian Poos
And an other thing, if I try to modify the Switch-to-next-source
shortcut, it still not let me to set Shift_L, pressing these
buttons makes it to be Disabled. So there is no way to set this on the
gui. I can set it again with the gsettings set
org.gnome.desktop.wm.keybindings switch-input-source "['Shift_L']",
however it still not works after that as well.

[Bug 1218322] Re: Can't set keyboard layout change to alt+shift, ctrl+shift, etc.

2013-11-20 Thread Krisztian Poos
Unfortunately neither the old ppa, ppa:attente/1218322 nor the new , the
modifier-only-input-switch fixes the issue on my laptop.
I tried to use also gsettings, I can finally map the keybindigs to ctrl-shift
with the gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.wm.keybindings switch-input-source
"['Shift_L']", however I still can use the Alt+Shift_L combo to change
the keyboard.
It changes the keyboard notifier in the panel, however I still type english
keys instead of hungarian.

I run ubuntu 13.10 on a Thinkpad T500, I use gnome shell.
I also tried to upgrade my gnome to 3.10, however the problem remained after
the upgrade as well, so I reverted these changes and went back to the 3.8.

Do you have any idea what else should I try to get back for the long-
ago-used Alt+Shift shortcut?

I am happily providing any needed information for investigation as
well.

Thanks and regards,
Krisztian

[Bug 971761] Re: Cannot install ia32-libs on 12.04 64-bit

2012-06-15 Thread Krisztian Poos
I also use apt-get, and if I would let apt-get -f install to remove the
whole system, that would be a wrong decision. On the link you entered,
all the people says, that this is no solution. I still cannot install
3rd party applications, and I don't really want to nearly reinstall my
system. Because installing the :i386 versionj of a package would
totally make a mess on the dpkg database. It would remove mostly all the
packages first... That is anyway a previously 11.04 upgraded to 11.10
upgraded to 12.04 ubuntu system... So do you say, that this is normal,
that to install a teamviewer, or skype, or any other 3rd party packages
should remove most of the desktop packages first?

[Bug 717392] Re: [natty] internet connection goes down and kworker/u:2 process slows down the system with the kernel Linux 2.6.38

2011-07-26 Thread Krisztian Poos
Hello everyone, I also have the issue on a Thinkpad T500.
Rolling back to 2.6.35 did not solved it, but on 2.6.34 I don't have the issue.
upgrading to 2.6.39-02063903 also did not solve the issue. however on my laptop
it is quite better than the with the default kernel in natty. The system was
unusable with the default one. The issue also exists in Maverick with kernels
older than 2.6.35

I also opened a bug uploaded also about the same topic: it can be
related to this I guess: Bug #772704

I may think that it may somehow related also to the wifi card/driver, as
usually during these periods when kworker eats up my cpu (it uses more
than 50% of the cputime) the system often dropped from the wifi access
point as well.

If anyone has a solution, it would be great to have, as this is a really
annoying issue, and makes working impossible on the system.

Thanks and regards,
RockY

It is also existing on my system when I use smartcard under Virtualbox.
This is surely related to the host machine.

[Bug 772704] [NEW] problem with the system and with the wlan card

2011-04-28 Thread Krisztian Poos
Public bug reported:

The system periodically slows down /stops (simillar to the 10.10 kslowd problem
(however with the new kernel there are no more kslow daemons) but the system is
back to normal, if I turn off the wifi card. anyway the wifi itself looses the
connection to the AP from time to time, and some times it is not able to
connect back for long times, and it sees the device to be unavalilable.
Well actually I also experienced this under 10.10, but with 11.04 it got worse,
the system not only slows down, but it is unable to use (that was an upgrade
10.10.) now I am dealing with a fresh install of 11.04 and this also have the
behavior unfortunately.
