[Bug 1909732] Re: Gnome Shell freezes for 2 minutes on unlock when mobile phone is connected (log shows gvfsd PTP errors)

2021-02-03 Thread Matthew Hudson
Daniel,

I have had my phone connected several times now, for differing number of
times - 1 hour to over night and it appears that every time I go to log
in there are no issues with a lag anymore.

Is there anything you would like me to do extra?

Matthew

[Bug 1909732] Re: Gnome Shell freezes for 2 minutes on unlock when mobile phone is connected (log shows gvfsd PTP errors)

2021-01-17 Thread Matthew Hudson
Hi - the issue has not happened again, I have not had the phone
connected to laptop as often.

FYI - I do not, as far as I am aware, have any extensions running.

But I have run the 2nd command as instructed - is it also worth running
the following?

gsettings set org.gnome.shell.extensions.desktop-icons show-mount false

Thank you for your help!

This may now be resolved - not sure if a bug or not! Would be good if
these changes were not required though.

M :)

[Bug 1909732] Re: unable to login to desktop manager after suspend

2021-01-11 Thread Matthew Hudson
Hi Daniel - unplugging the phone has proven to resolve the problem.

I have had to use the laptop to charge the phone on my trip hence this
never showing up as an issue before - I have set show-mounts to false
also and will see if this fixes it with the phone connected... or are
the two situations not related??

Cheers :)

[Bug 1909732] Re: unable to login to desktop manager after suspend

2021-01-07 Thread Matthew Hudson
On this occurring today again I checked the crash log as recommended, no
new files had been created - however, the issue may not be crashing - I
entered my password and the system halts / freezes. I walked away and
after a few minutes the system logged back in again - so there is a huge
delay in logging in it seems. If I check htop during this time, there is
nothing standing out as utilising memory/CPU - any further advice?

[Bug 1909732] [NEW] unable to login to desktop manager after suspend

2020-12-30 Thread Matthew Hudson
Public bug reported:

After my laptop suspends I am unable to login back in again.

I type in my password then everything freezes - I can drop to a
terminal and run

sudo service gdm restart

this gives me access again to my laptop - though obviously everything I was
working on has been closed down and potentially lost.

[Bug 1384741] Re: Lenovo X1 TouchPad intermittent/corrupt

2015-01-14 Thread Matthew Hudson
Just to update - the problem has resurfaced today

** Description changed:

Since upgrade yesterday on 14.10 - touchpad on my Lenovo X1 Carbon is
corrupted. After a reboot, it works for about 30 seconds then degrades
rapidly, where cursor jumps around screen and does not follow touchpad
movements. Two finger scrolling can cause right click events.

[Bug 1384741] Re: Lenovo X1 TouchPad intermittent/corrupt

2014-12-23 Thread Matthew Hudson
Thanks for looking in to this - please note however that about 3 weeks
ago I noticed that the touchpad had got a lot better (I'd been using a
mouse since the issue). checking again today - it seems to be fine, so
not sure if a kernel update or other has fixed the issue.

Have a great Christmas!

[Bug 1096851] [NEW] CTH-470 unable to configure Express Buttons

2013-01-07 Thread Matthew Hudson
Public bug reported:

After plugging in Wacom CTH-470, which is auto recognised and appears in
the System Settings - Wacom Settings. There are no options to configure
the Express Buttons - the dialog screen is empty.

It would be great to be able to configure a button as the toggle for the
TouchPad - this does look possible within KDE (however the button config
which is configurable does not work).

Having this work out the box in Ubuntu would be great!

I am running 12.10 32bit and 64bit - same issue on both.

[Bug 396268] Re: Banshee uses too much CPU

2010-11-02 Thread Matthew Hudson
After news that Banshee will be default for 11.04, I installed and began
enjoying the app. However, within a few hours I've run into this bug.
Turning off most of the extensions does seem to help it for me, but what
a let down. It's hard for me to nail down which extension is giving me
the most grief.

My system is an Acer Aspire 7736 w/ 4 GB of RAM, a dual-core 2.2 Ghz
Intel chip, and plenty of HD space. I do have a large music library,
clocking in at around 12-13,000 tracks (~80 GB).

2010-10-12 Thread Matthew Hudson
@Niels & @Stigger -
Did you have any specifications in your /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf? I
installed the deb from @David, but still no sound on 7736z. Is there a step not
explicitly given that I missed?

[Bug 617647] Re: [Acer aspire 7736z - Realtek ALC888] ALSA test tone not correctly played back

2010-10-12 Thread Matthew Hudson
I am also effected on my 7736z. No sound after fresh install to 10.10.
Received new linux kernel update this morning (12 Oct) but no change in
sound.

Here is my alsa-info.sh output:

I began a bug report at
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/658322 before I
found this report. I think they are the same.

[Bug 658322] [NEW] 10.10 no sound hda-intel realtek 888 acer aspire 7736z

2010-10-11 Thread Matthew Hudson
Public bug reported:

On upgrade to 10.10, I completely lost sound. This happened with 10.04
as well, but at that time there were newer ALSA drivers that mostly
fixed the problem. This time, the drivers seem to already be the newest,
but still no sound. I've used Synaptic to try to reinstall all my sound
components, but they all seem up to date.

Help?
