Me too, on Karmic Koala 9.10 Testing, AMD64, CUPS 1.4.1, using the HP
LaserJet 4 Plus v2013.111 Postscript (recommended) driver.

While printing from OpenOffice with output from GRAMPS, it will not
print, and instead prints the following error:

actually prints, though it is preceeded and followed by an invalidaccess

[Bug 138465] Re: CPU frequency gets stuck at the lowest frequency after resume from suspend (ThinkPad T60p)

2009-09-27 Thread Matthew Lange
I had the same problem with mine, where it was pegged at 2800Mhz.
(current policy: frequency should be within 2.80 GHz and 2.80 GHz.)

Try the following: For each of your processor cores:

Core 0:
sudo cpufreq-set -c 0 -d 800Mhz -u 2800Mhz
Core 1:
sudo cpufreq-set -c 1 -d 800Mhz -u 2800Mhz
etc., where 800Mhz is the lowest your CPU can go, and 2800Mhz is the highest,
as reported by cpufreq-info.

In this example, this should make cpufreq-info display the following:
...current policy: frequency should be within 800 MHz and 2.80 GHz...

[Bug 269656] Re: AN IRRELEVANT LICENSE IS PRESENTED TO YOU FREE-OF-CHARGE ON STARTUP

2008-09-15 Thread Matthew Lange
As far as retaining a trademark, I believe the requirement is that it
not fall into common use, IE 'Kleenex', etc. (Hence Kleenex-Brand
tissues), or 'Google' (as a verb), and that the company assert dominance
over the name (hence the previous scandal over not being allowed to use
the name Google as a verb).

I'm pretty sure that this trademark dominance is accomplished simply by
naming the applications Mozilla Firefox and Mozilla Thunderbird, and
this is clearly stated in the User-Agent, the Titlebar, and the Help
About... screen.

Although I'm not against an EULA, I would like to see Ubuntu work with
Mozilla to come up with a special version that doesn't include all the
extraneous wording, or as suggested previously, to show a common-sense
EULA, and link to the full EULA if the user wants (something like
about:eula)

I should mention it's Kubuntu Edgy.

/var partition is 60% used.

/var/test, /var is mounted read-only.
/var/run and /var/lock both exist, but there is nothing in /var/lock.

2007-03-09 Thread Matthew Lange
Public bug reported:

/var mounts as read-only in Ubuntu Edgy, last update was about two weeks
ago.

/var is ext3, would this be some kind of safety feature, if there is a
problem with bad sectors or whatnot?

This is a post for someone I know, his only computer is stuck using
consoles, since X won't start without being able to use /var.

Would this also apply to the package that sets the right-handed or left-

GreatBunzinni, could you try

True. I installed Ubuntu fine with my 6800, just no accelleration. I
really didn't notice the lack of accelleration until I tried some OpenGL
screensavers. I agree there should be some kind of note, but other than
that, politics wins this one... We can always provide the nvidia driver
in the repositories, but shipping with the CDs would violate stuff.
