[Bug 77370] Re: Laptop Fan always on after resume from suspend to RAM
I can also confirm that the above solves the problem. Apparently the kernel does not know what state are the fans in. This can be solved by turning them on and off for a brief period of time. [Bug 721954] Re: Kernel hangs when using USB storage or printer

[Bug 721954] [NEW] Kernel hangs when using USB storage or printer
Public bug reported: I am experiencing a kernel hang when using various external hard drives and my printer (Canon MP610 driver), all of which I connect using USB. The general symptom is that when I connect either of these devices, my system freezes up completely after about 10 minutes. They work just fine prior to that moment. I can reproduce this within two minutes by connecting a USB flash drive and running "sudo dd if=/dev/sdb1 of=/dev/null bs=4K" I am running Ubuntu 10.10 64-bit on a Dell Studio XPS 16 (Motherboard 1647, Core i5, ATI Radeon HD5730). I've looked through some of my logs (/var/log/messages seemed the most useful) but haven't been able to find any kind of USB related logging nor anything interesting happening prior to the hang. Is there anyway to enable more verbose debugging of the USB subsystem or some other log I should be looking at? I have tested this using various kernels with the following results: 2.6.32-28 (Lucid) - WORKS 2.6.35-22 (Maverick) - HANGS 2.6.35-24 (Maverick) - HANGS 2.6.35-25 (Maverick) - HANGS 2.6.36-020636.201010210905 (mainline from kernel-ppa) - HANGS So this appears to be a regression introduced at some point between 2.6.32-28 and 2.6.35-22. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/721954 Title: Kernel hangs when using USB storage or printer -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 210895] [NEW] System shutdown while flash playing
Public bug reported: Dear developers :) I want to report a bug, a really old bug for me.. I cant play flash in firefox or opera browser. Video, commercial, other application like games or "any flash object" in web pages shutdown my computer completely. I have absolutely no informations about what happened, crash leaves nothing in logs, no message window, nothing, aport cant report you a bug, so I really dont know what to to about it. Its my nightmare since Ubuntu 6.10 (U6.10, 7.04,7.10,8.04b). [Bug 68744] Re: USB Harddrive displayed multiple times
The same hard drives being displayed multiple times also occurs on my computers. I have three external hard drives formatted in Ext3. Sometimes they will be displayed twice, which is shown in the attached picture. If a drive is unmounted, one shortcut will remain and the other will go away. This can usually be fixed by unplugging all the hard drives and restarting the computer. The two shortcuts to the same hard drive aren't exactly the same. One, the "real" one, has an option to eject, while the other has an option to unmount the volume. The one that has an option to unmount the volume is the one that doesn't go away when the drive is unmounted or disconnected. ** Attachment added: "mulHD.png" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/8274248/mulHD.png -- USB Harddrive displayed multiple times https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/68744 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
