2012-10-05 Thread Pavel Kukacka
Weird: printing seems to work fine (page is printed fully, paper goes
out) when printing from Cinnamon instead of Xfce desktop. Could it be
some conflict between these two environments..? Cinnamon is O.K., Xfce
has problems.

There is a "complete error_log file" in the last three hundred rows - since I
printed something after 18:00.
But if it will help...
The main problem is that a functioning printer suddenly stopped working.

[Bug 1051646] [NEW] Printer stops printing too early; doesn't print full document

2012-09-16 Thread Pavel Kukacka
Public bug reported:

After some update on Precise (?july / august) our printer stopped printing
normally and stopped priniting before the page was fully printed. Now, one has
to pull the paper from the printer because it does not go out normally. The
printer starts blinking and needs to be switched off and back on to continue
printing something else.
Last few rows (of text) are not printed - it is not dependent on the document
size: when I remove last few rows - it still quits sooner than necessary. The
test page also didn't print well - attaching the log.
Tried to change some of the parameters (bottom margin, shift output) but
with no luck.
Again - the printer used to work fine - until some *** update came in.

[Bug 936629] [NEW] Printing fails after printing first document

2012-02-19 Thread Pavel Kukacka
Public bug reported:

When I turn the system on, I can print the first document I try - no
matter in which application. The second and further documents get stuck
in the print queue with the status "Processing" (my translation of
"Provádění" in czech) or "waiting" for the further documents. This
behaviour started on Oneiric after some time when the printing was
normal.

[Bug 872711] Re: Kernel does not report some USB printers correctly, making them not being detected by CUPS

2011-10-22 Thread Pavel Kukacka
Wow, it's printing! On 3.0.0-13.
I thought I need the 3.1. kernel as was stated in comment #28 ("This bug was
fixed in the package linux - 3.1.0-1.1").

Note:
I've installed 3.0.0.13 from proposed and the printer showed up right after
startup. However, it did not print - I sent a task and the printer did nothing.
I needed to unplug it from usb port and plug it again - then it started to
print.

Thanks once more for your help, Till!

[Bug 872711] Re: Kernel does not report some USB printers correctly, making them not being detected by CUPS

2011-10-21 Thread Pavel Kukacka
May be, Till.
I've got an HP DeskJet 710C for parallel port connected to USB via the Prolific
adapter (067b:2305 - the same you mentioned earlier).
It is visible - output of the mentioned commands is principally the same as on
the computer on which the printer works.
In other words, lsusb detects the prolific adapter and when running the second
command, the only difference when I connect the printer is that one row is
added, that has the group column value 'lp' instead of 'root' and the current
time.

[Bug 872711] Re: Kernel does not report some USB printers correctly, making them not being detected by CUPS

2011-10-21 Thread Pavel Kukacka
Tested with the new kernel (3.1. rc10) today on 32bit; nothing changed -
printer not found; not even by the hp-lip tool.
Although it worked fine on Natty :-(.

Re: [Bug 414161] gnome-volume-control crashed with SIGSEGV in gtk_tree_model_get_valist()

2011-05-19 Thread Pavel Kukacka
Hello,

I'm running the LTS version and this is no longer a problem for me. I
don't plan to upgrade to Natty, so I'm not gonna be able to supply you
with any such test results;
I've only tried switching profile on the hardware tab today on my Ubuntu
10.04 and it was without problems.

Cheers,
Pavel

[Bug 250506] Re: shutdown and restart buttons do nothing

2010-06-01 Thread Pavel Kukacka
I see the same issue as Aswarp reported (the "shutdown problem"), only in
GNOME, both 32bit and 64bit. When clicking shutdown (or restart) in
"System->Shutdown" nothing happens.
Even without any proprietary drivers. And it seems it happens randomly -
sometimes it works and the next day not and the other day it works again.
Strange. Weird.

[Bug 546117] Re: Ubuntu Lucid (on amd64, 2.6.32) crashes after first user action

2010-04-05 Thread Pavel Kukacka
** Description changed:

After logging into GNOME session, the system crashes when user generates
some activity - even the simplest one like opening a text file with
gvim. I expected to conduct my work, but instead, the system crashed in
  an unusually hard way.

system restarts itself.
- Another weird thing is that the screen sometimes disbands itself (?some
graphics-related issue..?), last time the screen only went blank. And the (cpu)
fan starts to work harder (is making more noise).

Re: [Bug 222131] Re: cannot detect CD-ROM when installing from AlternateCD...

2008-11-11 Thread Pavel Kukacka
Hello,
thanks for the interest; it's not an issue anymore, since that old PC
"died" and was thrown away. And therefore, it cannot be tested with the
latest Ubuntu release...

Re: [Bug 222131] Re: cannot detect CD-ROM when installing from AlternateCD...

2008-08-29 Thread Pavel Kukacka
Hello,

I don't have the hardware, on which the bug had arisen, it broke down,
so I won't be able to test it.

[Bug 222131] [NEW] cannot detect CD-ROM when installing from AlternateCD...

2008-04-25 Thread Pavel Kukacka
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: debian-installer

When installing on an old computer with Celeron 300A, PC Chips 726,
P6BXT-A+ mainboard and 192 MB RAM, installation program fails to detect
normal IDE CD-ROM - Nec CDR-1300, 6x speed. CD-ROM is connected as a
secondary slave, this happens in (K)Ubuntu 7.10, Xubuntu 7.10, Kubuntu
8.04. I downloaded the driver - "NEC_IDE.SYS" and offered it to the
installer, but the installer did not like it...
