Hello penalvch, as you can see from my description, its the same bug. Therefore, I didn't create a new report. Also, my analysis of the problem shows a clear hint to where the bug originates. To my understanding so far, its not the best way to create a duplicate of a bug if there is already one. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/918176 Title: 046d:08da Logitech webcam freezes if there is no movement To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/918176/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 918176] Re: 046d:08da Logitech webcam freezes if there is no movement
Hello, I can confirm this bug with the same symptoms, eg. sometimes the camera hangs. Attached is some system information, created with sudo lshw -html >> system_info.html . I have observed that the hanging of the camera appears when something large and bright is in the background, eg. a window during daytime. Then, when moving the hand before the camera, the input light is not so intense anymore and the camera starts taking pictures again until it gets too bright again. To me it looks like some threshold value for brightness in the camera driver, which is set too low or shouldnt be there at all. It is a driver problem, since the problem occurs in different video applications, e.g. Kopete and skype. By the way, the suggestion from Levente Torok does not solve the problem. [Bug 294275] Re: cool n quiet causes usb disks to turn off randomly
** Description changed: System: Hardy Heron on a AMD Athlon X2 4000+ with AMD 790FX SB600 (I also tried this with Intrepid). If I plug in a usb-Disk or stick, it appears randomly every other hour that i cant access the usb device anymore. If I plug it in again, it is not recognized, until I reboot. My usb-mouse is still working all the time. When i switch off the cool n quiet feature, it seems so far that the problem is not occurring anymore. Edit: Also, setting usb to highspeed (instead of fullspeed) in the BIOS, causes similar problems. Might be a different problem though. (Only tested on Hardy Heron) (Mainboard: ASUS M3A32-MVP Deluxe) (Bios Version: 1301). So disabling cool n quiet _and_ setting usb to fullspeed works well here. + Edit2: + More tests on Hardy Heron with BIOS Version 1502: + USB works so far with cool n quiet switched on, if only the direct usb connection is used. If, however, a usb-stick is plugged into a usb hub (here the hub included in a LG L246WH widescreen was used) the usb stick isnt mounted. Afterwards, also the direct plug of the usb stick (without extra hub) doesnt work anymore (until reboot). usb mouse still works though. + regards -- cool n quiet causes usb disks to turn off randomly https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/294275 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
