[Bug 2061228] Re: Upgrading Ubuntu Jammy to Ubuntu Noble fails with error message

2024-04-26 Thread Robert Los
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 2054761 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2054761

Got the same or similar error. While doing a do-release-update from
22.04 to 24.04 it crashed halfway the installation of packages. After
rebooting could only get a terminal window using ctrl-alt-F2. I tried to
do a dpkg --configure -a but that feild due to too many errors. It
turned out that networking did not work because the resolv wa not there.
I do not know how to reinstall that.

[Bug 1016559] Re: DropBox (nautilus-dropbox) installation hangs while downloading

2012-10-15 Thread Robert Los
Hi guys,

I might have found the problem. I tried to install dropbox on a fresh linux
laptop but already copied my home directory to it. That contained the
.dropbox-dist directory which caused a lot of problems.
Completely purging dropbox with
$ sudo dpkg --purge dropbox
$ rm -r .dropbox-dist

and installing from www.dropbox.com
solved all the problems.

Cheers

Robert

The problem was caused by a missing link after installing grub2. The
command

sudo ln -s /usr/sbin/update-grub /sbin/update-grub

brought relieve.

I have the same problem and it seems to be related to adding a drive to

on screen to see where the boot process times-out. It waits approx 10
minutes at the position below (excerpt from var/log/messages)

the curious thing is that when i boot dapper LTS it does not have a problem. Is
there a way to re-initiate the hardware table?
