[Bug 1450856] Re: Wifi stops working with "bandwidth change" (Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1030 [Rainbow Peak])
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: I have a Dell XPS 15 L502X with Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1030 [Rainbow Peak] running Ubuntu 14.04 (fresh install). Wifi stops working intermittently during active usage and *always* after screen off. I have tried some tweaks suggested to users facing wifi problems in Ubuntu 14.04. [Bug 1087000] [NEW] slow transfer speed for cifs shares in nautilus
Public bug reported: This bug is similar to Bug #810606 (Slow cifs in 11.04). I'm reporting it because that one is marked EXPIRED while the issue is still not fixed. Transferring files to and from cifs shares, mounted via fstab entries, is a considerably slow process in nautilus. Transferring to same shares via rsync or ssh is 2-3x faster. Over my wireless network, I get speeds of ~5MB/s with rsync and ssh. In nautilus, speed drops to 2.5MB/s max. I've set the CIFSMaxShare to 130048 and rsize option in the fstab entry but it doesn't seem to make any difference. The laptop (Dell XPS 15 L502x) wifi switch is off and I have to manually start it up with Fn+F2. This happens every time. I was running Fedora 16 before switching to ubuntu and in Fedora wifi was always connected after login, so I'm thinking this is a wireless configuration bug? [Bug 636814] [NEW] Library watcher doesnot add new files automatically
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: banshee I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 and Banshee 1.6.1 The problem with this release (and all past releases) on my machine is that the Music Library does not get updated when I add files to my music folder. [Bug 401066] [NEW] Totem crashes while playing xvid encoded files and DVDs
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: totem I'm using Jaunty on a low end system (1.5Ghz, 256MB RAM). Totem crashes while trying to play DVDs and Xvid encoded AVIs. ffmpeg is not installed on this system, just basic Ubuntu install with restricted-extras. Other types of AVI files (like DivX encoded) seem to work fine. I've tried to play the file in VLC, Totem, MPlayer...VLC and Totem crash while MPlayer gives sound but no video. If launched from terminal totem exits with the following output: /var/lib/python-support/python2.6/gdata/tlslite/utils/cryptomath.py:9: DeprecationWarning: the sha module is deprecated; use the hashlib module instead import sha The program 'totem' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)'. (Details: serial 73 error_code 11 request_code 132 minor_code 19) (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously; that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it. To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.) I've tried the file on a faster machine and it plays okay. So does in WinXP on this system. Maybe xvid codec requires further optimization to run on low spec machines??? I have enabled in-built compositing in metacity but the problem occurs with or without compositing enabled [compiz is not in use]. I have not tweaked the xorg.conf or any graphics settings...they are the ones provided by the OS. [Bug 236663] Re: No easy way to mount pre-existing partitions after OS installed
The problem is still not fixed in Jaunty. I still had to modify my /etc/fstab so that the partitions carrying my music would auto-mount at startup and rythmbox wouldn't throw up import errors. I don't expect any new user to know the problem and the way to fix it. All he would think is that his OS is broken because he has to manually auto mount partitions upon every reboot. -- No easy way to mount pre-existing partitions after OS installed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/236663 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
