[Bug 74008] Re: Include the window border doesn't work by default (with compiz)

2011-03-02 Thread Samantha (aka Sam)
Greg, that's not related to compiz. My comment from 2010-12-18 was
regarding 10.10 and due to the mentioned Bug (which is btw. questionable
reading the comments) I've assigned Shift+Print to take a screenshot,
still with compiz it doesn't incl. window decorations (borders).

Agree, I guess we just leave it there since we don't have any hints what causes
the mystery.
Thanks a lot for your input and time.

[Bug 708803] Re: [Maverick] autoremove removes package which is required

2011-02-26 Thread Samantha (aka Sam)
Thanks again for review.
I'm also unable to reproduce it.
I've killed conky, purge, reinstall, apt-mark showauto is now negative and
description now says it isn't auto installed.
$ aptitude show conky-all
Package: conky-all
State: installed
Automatically installed: no
Version: 1.8.0-1ubuntu1

Wish I'd comprehend how the procedure works when I get two different results.
I thought conky-all is a standalone app, if it is a dependency, I wonder which
package does flag it as autoremovable?

[Bug 708803] Re: [Maverick] autoremove removes package which is required

2011-02-25 Thread Samantha (aka Sam)
Thanks for the review.
conky-all wasn't marked as 'auto install', I manually marked and installed it
as standalone app, then was surprised it would get removed if I wouldn't
closely pay attention to what gets autoremoved.
It wasn't brought_in_as_a_dependency from another app if this is the meaning of
it.
e.g. lets say I've installed Gnote manually and it wouldn't get autoremoved,
why is that?
I'd simply expect after manually installing an app it doesn't get autoremoved.

While description of aptitude declares it as auto installed, of course the
result is positive.
$ apt-mark showauto | grep conky-all
conky-all

Note differences below, conky-all will_be_removed, conky may_be_removed.

[Bug 708803] [NEW] [Maverick] autoremove removes package which is required

2011-01-27 Thread Samantha (aka Sam)
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: apt

Situation.
conky-all is installed, in use and therefore required.
If a user runs 'autoremove' to clean up package cache (either via CLI or
Synaptic), an app which is still in use would be removed.
In this case the term 'no longer required' isn't true.

Expected.
Don't offer packages which are in use to be autoremoved, don't suppose they're
no longer required.

Comment.
In case of issues with package management, users often get advised to
autoremove, autoclean package cache.
The example would lead to a new question why a required package has been
removed.
The statement in the wiki 'no longer needed' would also be unfounded in this
case.
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/AptGet/Howto#Removal%20commands

Example.
$ LANG=C sudo apt-get -s install hardinfo
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
The following packages were automatically installed and are no longer required:
  linux-headers-2.6.35-22-generic conky-all linux-headers-2.6.35-22 libimlib2
Use 'apt-get autoremove' to remove them.
The following NEW packages will be installed:
  hardinfo
0 upgraded, 1 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Inst hardinfo (0.5.1-1.1ubuntu3 Ubuntu:10.10/maverick [amd64])

[Bug 631664] Re: Clock / calendar / locations applet opens on wrong position of screen

2010-12-25 Thread Samantha (aka Sam)
Regarding comment #10 from Kantastisk, thanks a lot for the idea of the
workaround. Have already alacarte, gconf-editor a.o. in there, but didn't think
of adding clock-applet.
Open CCSM, plugin 'place'.
http://wiki.compiz.org/Plugins/Place

Click on clock applet. (here on bottom panel)

Open a terminal:
$ xprop|grep WM_CLASS|cut -d\ -f4
Clock-applet

## After the cmd, cursor turns into a cross, click on clock-applet which
reveals window class.
On 1680x1050 screen I placed it beside the right panel: class=Clock-applet, x
1251, y 167
and I'll leave it right there - compiz rules.
