I am not using firefox much now because of this bug among other reasons. I am on Lucid Lynx and will try to reproduce it. The worst part of this bug is menus and other quick windows. Fill all free space at your home mount point to 100% (probably copy several films or something.) Copy program should give you error message about no free space left 4. Send yourself new letter to account above. 5. Wait until thunderbird automatically checks mailbox. 6. Voila! This bug affects me too. It usually appears on slow connections like GPRS or on connections which have some problems with DNS. Also it appears almost on all connections if i install dnsmasq. But i never seen it on Ethernet connections. When firefox hangs it consumes 100% of CPU. This bug appears when i open new tab, close old, or just switching tabs. Usually clicking on the links doesn't affect it. Running firefox -g and beraking during the hang reveals nothing. It usually breaks in different places but often i see js_Invoke. It is very annoying per se, but the worst thing about it is the short-living X Server windows which firefox uses alot. Say if i open new tab and quickly click on menu File firefox opens system-modal menu window and hangs and the entire X server becomes unusable (does not respond to my actions) until firefox resumes. I can't switch to another application, the panels do not respond to my clicks and so on. The duration of the hang depends on number of open tabs. If i open 50 tabs it will be about 90 seconds. Some time ago i had opposite situation: nautilus trash window works fine, but applet shows wrong number of trashcan items in tooltip. What icon theme do you use? The name of theme is in russian and corresponding word in English will be Clearance. The code probably check the icon to update the display but should not rely on that to update the button Trashapplet does exactly this. It checks if it's own current icon of trashcan is the same as trashcan's. And uses itemcount to update tooltip. Unfortunately after restarting nautilus (logout/login) i have no this issue. Will wait until it happens again. I upgraded the CPU (HSF) cooling Lucky you. I have laptop with frequent temperature reboots too and can't even upgrade cooler. And in 9.04 there is no thermal module which i can rmmod. Is this reproducible? Yes if i empty trash via applet menu item, delete something the button in nautilus is still disabled. If so, what specific steps should we take to recreate this bug? I installed Ubuntu 9.04 and there already was this problem. I can't find out steps to reproduce, because i can't make this button enabled. It's always disabled. Does gvfs-monitor works on the directory? On which directory? You mean on .local/share/Trash/files?
