[Bug 1654779] Re: installer crashes on grub installation (forced UEFI install) calling 'grub-efi-amd64-signed' failed
Thank you for taking the time to look into the issue. One thing I want to note though, is that the installer also crashed, when I selected the "safe" option. I think it even spit out the same error message, but I don't remember 100%. But I think the problem had more to do with my strange setup here. But once again thanks for taking your time! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1654779 Title: installer crashes on grub installation (forced UEFI install) calling 'grub-efi-amd64-signed' failed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub-installer/+bug/1654779/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1654779] [NEW] installer crashes on grub installation (forced UEFI install) calling 'grub-efi-amd64-signed' failed
Public bug reported: Tried a clean install of 16.04 from a USB stick in UEFI mode. Got a warning, that another system (Win10) was installed on another disk in legacy mode and might not boot, if I used force UEFI mode. Commenced with forced UEFI install and at the end it stated: errors were encountered wjile processing grub-efi-amd64-signed shim-signed E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1) info: Calling 'apt-install grub-efi-amd64-signed' failed. But I guess that's in the logfile as well. A sudo apt-get install grub-efi-amd64-signed seems to have been successful. But I'll have to reboot to see. Also I did sudo apt-get install shim-signed. Hope you can find the bug. If you can't I'll gladly assist you trying to recreate the same situation using an ssh oder whatever you prefere. # Description:Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS Release:16.04 apt-cache policy pkgname returns: N: Unable to locate package pkgname System: 2 HDDs (tried to install Ubuntu on one of them, 1 ext4 1 swap partition and bootloader for Ubuntu were to be installed here) 1 SSD with just Windows 10 64 bit on it i7-4770s R9-280X 16GB RAM Asus M51AC PC USB stick was prepared using Rufus in GPT UEFI mode and FAT32 on a 32 GB sandisk cruzer in ISO mode ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.04 Package: ubiquity 2.21.63.2 [modified: lib/partman/automatically_partition/question] ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.4.0-31.50-generic 4.4.13 Uname: Linux 4.4.0-31-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.1-0ubuntu2.1 Architecture: amd64 CasperVersion: 1.376 Date: Sat Jan 7 20:18:51 2017 InstallCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/casper/vmlinuz.efi file=/cdrom/preseed/ubuntu.seed boot=casper quiet splash --- LiveMediaBuild: Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS "Xenial Xerus" - Release amd64 (20160719) ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, no user) LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: grub-installer UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: grub-installer (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug ubiquity-2.21.63.2 ubuntu xenial -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1654779 Title: installer crashes on grub installation (forced UEFI install) calling 'grub-efi-amd64-signed' failed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub-installer/+bug/1654779/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
