SEWilco, For workaround2, yes it is experimental. I have heard from a few people who have had problems with it, but it hasn't been known to crash hard- drives or anything major so it's certainly worth a try. I use the Adobe 64bit Flash 10beta on 3 different systems and have for months with no problems at all. [Bug 178038] Re: npviewer.bin crashed with SIGSEGV
For those who don't read Gen X's spanish (I don't either) I think from the links that he's advocating the adobe 64bit flash beta. I've been running it for over a month now (no npviewer.bin issues any more, plus flash runs faster and controls in youtube c. work more consistently.) To try it uninstall the current flash plugin with synaptic, then go to the download page (first link in GenX's comment) and download 64bit flash for linux. Then copy the plugin file to one of the mozilla plugin directories (~/.mozilla/plugins for just you or /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins for systemwide). Restart firefox. [Bug 422920] Re: empathy crashed with SIGSEGV in g_main_context_dispatch()
Turns out for me at least, the whole works isn't crashing, just the empathy frontend (or something). After I opened the programme and it crashed today, someone sent me an IM about an hour later, my empathy frontend was then more than kind enough to open and display the message. So I guess telepathy itself is successfully connecting the the AIM servers but then empathy or empathy-gtk or something is dying but is then capable of waking up when needed by the backend. [Bug 422945] Re: Installer includes information on Pidgin IM when Empathy is the default IM.
@Mathieu Empathy is still default. The libs changed from libempathy-gtk25 to 27 and libempathy27 to 29. For some reason update manager didn't like making that change much. You can easily do it in synaptic however, just mark empathy and it *should* pull in the right depends. -- Installer includes information on Pidgin IM when Empathy is the default IM. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/422945 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 414464] Re: controls fail to work in flash
I don't know what the problem was but it definitely wasn't firefox. I tried new profiles, disabled extensions, c. I then even tried Epiphany and Konquerer with no luck so it had to be flashplugin. Then I reinstalled karmic alpha4 from scratch(hadn't done a fresh install since hardy). It still didn't work then but after updates yesterday or the day before everything works again (for now * fingers crossed * ). ** Changed in: firefox-3.5 (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- controls fail to work in flash https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/414464 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 414464] [NEW] controls fail to work in flash videos
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: firefox-3.5 In Firefox under Karmic Alpha 4 the controls do not work in flash. I have the standard flashplugin-installer installed. [Bug 263963] Re: [iwl*] intel drivers take overly long to associate to WPA for some hardware
I'd love to test Michele's theory on my setup, but my wireless works fine on my home WPA2 router... it's just on Purdue's fancy Cisco WPA Enterprise routers that I have trouble. (and I don't think they'll let me reboot those... :-p) -- [iwl*] intel drivers take overly long to associate to WPA for some hardware https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/263963 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 263963] Re: [iwl*] intel drivers take overly long to associate to WPA for some hardware
New packages don't fix the problem. Connecting to the WPA Enterprise network (mentioned above, PEAP - TKIP - MSCHAPv2) still does not work. Now, however, instead of prompting me to renter my password, nothing happens at all. I'm running Intrepid, kernel 2.6.27-7 and the updated network manager packages on a broadcom bcm4328 using the broadcom restricted drivers. -- [iwl*] intel drivers take overly long to associate to WPA for some hardware https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/263963 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 263963] Re: wpa intrepid fails to autenticate
I'm back. I have a guess as to why my solution worked for me and not for mistryous... I hadn't tried to connect to a WPA Enterprise network... It DOESNT WORK. Although my wpa2personal now works fine I am unable to authenticate on my school's WPAenterprise (PEAP - TKIP - MSCHAPv2). [Bug 263963] Re: wpa intrepid fails to autenticate
When I run wpa_supplicant it doesn't get nearly that far into doing things so I've never seen it show EAP-TLV nor anything else. According to Microsoft's Tech Specs on PEAP-MSCHAPv2 the EAP-TLV is just a part of the connection process or something? http://technet.microsoft.com/en- us/library/cc779326.aspx I really don't know that much about PEAP. -- wpa intrepid fails to autenticate https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/263963 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 263963] Re: wpa intrepid fails to autenticate
Stopping avahi-daemon doesn't solve the issue for me either. I can confirm that this issue is very much in the kernel though, because I'm currently on wpa2 wireless from Intrepid but with 2.6.24-21. -- wpa intrepid fails to autenticate https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/263963 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 263963] Re: wpa intrepid fails to autenticate
I have no idea what fixed the problem. I justinstalled a fresh copy of Intrepid RC. Then I ran all of the updates over ethernet. Then I enabled my wireless restricted drivers. Now wpa2 works fine even with 2.6.27... So I have no idea why it now works but at least it does for me. -- wpa intrepid fails to autenticate https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/263963 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 263963] Re: wpa intrepid fails to autenticate
I tried again with the release candidate of Intrepid, and still no WPA2. It throws away my password and fills the password box with a lot more characters than were ever in my password to begin with when the re-enter the password dialog appears. Fixing the password in the box doesn't help anything. I agree with mistryous, it somehow loses the password. I even tried upgrading my Hardy box (with working WPA2 on a connection that has the password saved) to Intrepid RC and it still popped up the same empty password box as on a fresh install. -- wpa intrepid fails to autenticate https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/263963 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 263963] Re: wpa intrepid fails to autenticate
I have a similar issue. Using the same access point as under Hardy, Intrepid fails to authenticate to WPA2. I've tried using hidden and non- hidden ssid.
