[Bug 1878103] Re: /usr/bin/vtkParseOGLExt-7.1 do not exist
My deb build skills are rusty. But I can still read the debian/rules and the gitlab-ci.yml file. - vtkParseOGLExt was removed as an installed file in https://salsa.debian.org/science-team/vtk7/-/commit/e04688492f3c45ff8bc80960705ecbc67eebccaa, presumably can be re-added even if 'an old thing'. - libvtkRenderingPythonTkWidgets.so is removed by rules in https://salsa.debian.org/science-team/vtk7/-/blob/master/debian/rules#L149, presumably could be kept. - vtk is renamed to vtk7 by rules in https://salsa.debian.org/science-team/vtk7/-/blob/master/debian/rules#L139, may need to be handled by update-alternatives. - pvtk is built (see rules in https://salsa.debian.org/science-team/vtk7/-/blob/master/debian/rules#L137), but not installed. May need to be renamed and handles by update-alternatives. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1878103 Title: /usr/bin/vtkParseOGLExt-7.1 do not exist To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/vtk7/+bug/1878103/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 532720] [NEW] Spurious stylus events with serial wacom tablet in lucid
Public bug reported: When using the stylus on my Thinkpad X60 tablet (serial wacom tablet) in xournal, it is not possible to draw anything. There seem to be spurious events in the bottom right corner of the screen (resulting in straight lines, I will attach a xournal screen shot). Using the stylus for navigation on the desktop seems to work fine (although I am not sure the spurious events would show up). Expected result: Stylus should draw smooth lines in xournal. Actual result: The lines drawn by the stylus are interrupted by straight lines to the corner of the screen. Touch events are associated with the following warnings in Xorg.0.log: (WW) wcmSerialValidate: bad magic at 1 v=91 l=9 (WW) wcmSerialValidate: bad magic at 5 v=91 l=9 (WW) wcmSerialValidate: bad magic at 1 v=91 l=5 Stylus events are associated with the following warnings in Xorg.0.log (more warnings for same 'amount' of activity): (WW) wcmSerialValidate: bad magic at 4 v=a1 l=5 (WW) wcmSerialValidate: bad magic at 4 v=a1 l=5 (WW) wcmSerialValidate: bad magic at 4 v=91 l=9 (WW) wcmSerialValidate: bad magic at 5 v=a1 l=9 (WW) wcmSerialValidate: bad magic at 4 v=a1 l=5 (WW) wcmSerialValidate: bad magic at 4 v=91 l=9 (WW) wcmSerialValidate: bad magic at 5 v=a1 l=9 (WW) wcmSerialValidate: bad magic at 4 v=a0 l=5 (WW) wcmSerialValidate: bad magic at 4 v=a0 l=5 Versions: Description:Ubuntu lucid (development branch) Release:10.04 xserver-xorg-input-wacom: Installed: 1:0.10.3+20100109-1ubuntu2 Candidate: 1:0.10.3+20100109-1ubuntu2 Version table: *** 1:0.10.3+20100109-1ubuntu2 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com lucid/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status ProblemType: Bug Architecture: i386 Date: Fri Mar 5 10:16:37 2010 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 EcryptfsInUse: Yes GdmLog: Error: command ['sudo', 'cat', '/var/log/gdm/:0.log'] failed with exit code 1: cat: /var/log/gdm/:0.log: No such file or directory GdmLog1: Error: command ['sudo', 'cat', '/var/log/gdm/:0.log.1'] failed with exit code 1: cat: /var/log/gdm/:0.log.1: No such file or directory GdmLog2: Error: command ['sudo', 'cat', '/var/log/gdm/:0.log.2'] failed with exit code 1: cat: /var/log/gdm/:0.log.2: No such file or directory MachineType: LENOVO 63665CG NonfreeKernelModules: openafs Package: xserver-xorg-input-wacom 1:0.10.3+20100109-1ubuntu2 PccardctlIdent: Socket 0: no product info available PccardctlStatus: Socket 0: no card ProcCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.32-15-generic root=UUID=e40b8725-7aee-4826-9005-6e6eeae5fd5d ro ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE= PATH=(custom, user) SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-15.22-generic SourcePackage: xf86-input-wacom Uname: Linux 2.6.32-15-generic i686 dmi.bios.date: 10/04/2007 dmi.bios.vendor: LENOVO dmi.bios.version: 7JET26WW (1.11 ) dmi.board.name: 63665CG dmi.board.vendor: LENOVO dmi.board.version: Not Available dmi.chassis.asset.tag: No Asset Information dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: LENOVO dmi.chassis.version: Not Available dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnLENOVO:bvr7JET26WW(1.11):bd10/04/2007:svnLENOVO:pn63665CG:pvrThinkPadX60Tablet:rvnLENOVO:rn63665CG:rvrNotAvailable:cvnLENOVO:ct10:cvrNotAvailable: dmi.product.name: 63665CG dmi.product.version: ThinkPad X60 Tablet dmi.sys.vendor: LENOVO system: distro: Ubuntu codename: lucidarchitecture: i686kernel: 2.6.32-15-generic ** Affects: xf86-input-wacom (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 lucid -- Spurious stylus events with serial wacom tablet in lucid https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/532720 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thanks! On a Thinkpad X60 tablet this works now too, after adding the additional udev rules (as a separate file 65-xorg-wacom.rules, not at the end of 69-xserver-xorg-input-wacom.rules for some reason, I am not a udev expert). The output of xsetwacom is Serial Wacom Tablet eraser ERASER Serial Wacom Tablet touch TOUCH Serial Wacom Tablet STYLUS There are still other issues, though, which I will file as a separate bug after these rules are officially released: spurious events at the bottom right corner of the screen when using the stylus, associated with the following log output: /var/log/Xorg.0.log: (WW) wcmSerialValidate: bad magic at 4 v=a4 l=5 (WW) wcmSerialValidate: bad magic at 4 v=80 l=5 repeated many times Could this be caused by the multitouch events from this particular tablet (although the touch capability is recognized and works without those spurious events)... Install the dkms.conf file in /usr/src/openafs-1.4.7.dfsg1-6 (attached, taken from the fedora package) 3. Add this source to the dkms tree: sudo dkms add -m openafs -v 1.4.7.dfsg1-6 4. Restart the dkms_autoinstaller sudo /etc/init.d/dkms_autoinstaller restart This will be busy quietly compiling for a while. After it's done you will find the new module installed as /lib/modules/2.6.27-10-generic/updates/dkms/openafs.ko 5. Openafs tries to find the module in moduledir/fs, but it's not possible to install it there. Therefore you have to append the following lines to /etc/openafs/afs.conf: MODULEROOT=/lib/modules/`uname -r` MODULEDIR=$MODULEROOT/updates/dkms 6. Restart the openafs-client sudo /etc/init.d/openafs-client restart I think this could be included in the openafs-modules-dkms package as follows: - openafs-modules-dkms should install the source tree into /usr/src/openafs-version - openafs-modules-dkms should automatically run 'dkms add' for this version (and 'dkms remove' on package removal or update) - the openafs-client startup script should be modified to also search in the dkms module directory, or the afs.conf file should get some lines appended - on next boot the dkms_autoinstaller will then compile and install the module, and openafs-client will find that module and load it ** Attachment added: dkms.conf for openafs-1.4.7.dfsg1-6 http://launchpadlibrarian.net/20308368/dkms.conf -- Use dkms for openafs-modules https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/288743 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

The solution in comment #36 above works for me (one comment: ./autogen should be ./autogen.sh). Before: scroll wheel emulation works before suspend, but broken after suspend. [Bug 120457] Re: Support for battery recharge thresholds
For thinkpads this is possible using the following sysfs nodes: echo 40 /sys/devices/platform/smapi/BAT0/start_charge_thresh echo 70 /sys/devices/platform/smapi/BAT0/stop_charge_thresh This will start charging when remaining charge drops below 40% and stop charging when charged for 70%. One could consider looking in the smapi directory, loop over the batteries, and set preset values for start and stop. This functionality requires the tp_smapi module, which is not included in the main tree, but also provides some other useful features (hard disk protection). -- Support for battery recharge thresholds https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/120457 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Team, which is a bug contact for kde-guidance in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
[Bug 149128] Re: kde-guidance-power-manager changes CPU beahvior to Performance after suspend
I can reproduce the problems described above: - suspend from guidance-power-manager in KDE does not work (for work-around see below), but does work from the lock/logout buttons applet - resume brings the laptop back up in performance mode when using 2.6.24-4 on x86, but brings it back in ondemand mode (as expected) when using 2.6.24-5 although then guidance-power-manager doesn't show the cpu usage anymore (although the sysfs interfaces are fine) The first problem (suspend using guidance-power-manager) can be 'solved' by disabling HAL and DBUS communication in /usr/share/python-support /kde-guidance-powermanager/powermanage.py by changing: # Send suspend / hibernate commands to HAL or use Sx_COMMANDS SUSPEND_USE_HAL = False # Command to initiate suspend-to-disk when not using HAL S4_COMMAND = sudo /usr/sbin/pm-hibernate # Command to initiate suspend-to-ram when not using HAL S3_COMMAND = sudo /usr/sbin/pm-suspend Then run sudo update-python-modules after these changes. Add the following lines to /etc/sudoers: User_Alias USERS = usernames Cmnd_Alias SUSPEND = /usr/sbin/pm-hibernate, /usr/sbin/pm-suspend USERS ALL = NOPASSWD: SUSPEND powermanage.py tries to connect to HAL using DBUS at org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.SystemPowerManagement. This seems to fail (although support for suspend/hibernate using HAL is correctly determined at udi /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/computer and key .power_management.can_suspend_to_ram). I tried to investigate with kdbus, but also there the connection seems to fail... Could this be a DBUS problem? I have no experience with HAL, DBUS or Python, but I can give more info if you tell me how to get it. -- kde-guidance-power-manager changes CPU beahvior to Performance after suspend https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/149128 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Team, which is a bug contact for kde-guidance in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

[Bug 59695] Re: High frequency of load/unload cycles on some hard disks may shorten lifetime
Hi Bart, I did indeed consider that; see below. With btrace I checked that it is hddtemp that is accessing the hd and causing it to spin up. [Bug 133957] Re: Dolphin uses fish: instead of sftp: for SSH connections
This change in behavior could create some confusion. At my university (~40 000 users estimated) sftp and ssh access are only allowed to different servers (login.domain and sftp.domain). Not saying that that's a reason not to change this behavior, but then dolphin (and other apps) should probably change the text Secure shell (ssh) to Secure shell (sftp) to avoid confusion. -- Dolphin uses fish: instead of sftp: for SSH connections https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/133957 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Team, which is a bug contact for kdebase in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
