[Bug 152523] Gutsy crashes constantly with nVidia restricted mode driver

2007-10-13 Thread Exquisite Dead Guy
Public bug reported:

Fresh install on an AMD64 with an onboard nvidia 6100. As soon as the
restricted mode driver is installed, the machine works and looks great
except after about 5 minutes of use the screen fills with garbage and it
locks hard- num lock light no longer toggles. I don't believe it's
defective hardware as I've run a memtest and have used the same hardware
with Windows XP for a year with no issues.

It's very frustrating for this new ubuntu convert as the non-restricted
mode driver can't display a refresh rate that's compatible with my
monitor.

I'd appreciate any help you can give!

[Bug 153000] Default azureus package install broken in Gutsy

2007-10-15 Thread Exquisite Dead Guy
Public bug reported:

If you use Add/Remote to install Sun Java and Azureus, it will run but
is very unstable. It crashes constantly and won't transfer files.

The workaround I found was to download Sun Java from their site, extract
it and copy it to /usr/java/latest, then download Azureus from its
official site and install it manually. If I follow these directions it
works perfectly.

This is with Gutsy amd64

[Bug 153187] mouse cursor disappears after testing resolution with nv driver

2007-10-15 Thread Exquisite Dead Guy
Public bug reported:

When I run displayconfig-gtk, about a third of the time when switching
resolutions and clicking the Test button, the mouse cursor will not be
visible on the screen with the OK/Cancel that pops up to test. If I hit
cancel to go back to the old resolution, the mouse cursor will still be
gone. No matter what I do, logout, etc I can't get the cursor to come
back, I have to reboot.

This happens while using the "nv" driver.

Thanks,
EDG

To clarify: the machine still responds to the mouse, it's not losing
mouse support completely, just the displaying of the cursor. If I can
find a button blindly, you can see it going into a "mouseover" state,
and it responds to clicking ,etc.

[Bug 153187] Re: mouse cursor disappears after testing resolution with nv driver

2007-10-15 Thread Exquisite Dead Guy
To clarify: the machine still responds to the mouse, it's not losing
mouse support completely, just the displaying of the cursor. If I can
find a button blindly, you can see it going into a "mouseover" state,
and it responds to clicking ,etc.

[Bug 239251] [NEW] Hilighting covers up text itself

2008-06-11 Thread Exquisite Dead Guy
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

evince 2.22.2 on Ubuntu 8.04:

I have a document where when viewing or printing, yellow hilighting in
the document covers up text so it's only readable if you select it. It
displays fine on xpdf and Adobe. The document is attached, an example of
it is on page 42.

Thanks,
EDG
