[Bug 1525217] Re: md5deep binary is missing
I have fixed the missing md5deep and made my script run okay. sudo ln -s /usr/bin/hashdeep /usr/local/bin/md5deep That is all I did to get both hashdeep and md5deep functional. They use the same binary code and work differently (a wee bit anyway) depending on being called by md5deep or hashdeep. I'm using Linux Mint 18.1 derived from Ubuntu 16.10. What is still not working is "info md5deep" but it is okay for "info hashdeep". It all needs to be looked at in Ubuntu. In Debian 18.1 and Mint LMDE 2 Betsy they were both okay after installation. Re: [Bug 785171] Re: Samba works or may not work quite random
Hi and thanks for looking into this, I've updated to LinuxMint 11 and my wife Ginette is still on LinuxMint 9. My computer has Gufw 11.04.2. When I say enabled or disabled the rules are in RED when enabled and not shown when disabled. The computer of my wife Ginette has no firewall. Both machines are AMD64. Initially I go to places/network and see my machine and Ginette plus windows. I click on Ginette then MyFiles and it says fail to mount. I close the network window. I disable the firewall and again click on places/networks, then Ginette/MyFiles and it mounts and I can access her files. I close the network window and enable the firewall and click on places/network then Ginette/MyFiles and I can access her files. Once I unmount MyFiles on Ginette from my Desktop (using the GUI right click) I have to start again by disabling the firewall. At one time I was using firestarter and gave up on it as the article in Linux the complete manual (with Live DVD Ubuntu 9.10) simply failed networking. When I moved to LinuxMint 11 I re-formatted my hard drive to get rid of old stuff including firestarter. Yes, I'm using the GUI when I can and a terminal when I must. (I've spoiled myself). I've never seen networking work without first mounting the remote with the firewall disabled. I've been confused due to all the articles, comments, solutions and variations found by Google on this subject and I've tried a few of them. I've also used ufw from the terminal to enter a few things, but I really do not know what ports I should have enabled. All I want is email, http, shttp and networking. This is what I have enabled on the firewall and attached is smb.conf. Anything else just email and I'll be happy to get back to you. [Bug 328071] Re: Gedit Print preview
I entered gedit in a terminal window. Then loaded my file and print preview and finally print to pdf and I have this in the terminal window. Re: [Bug 328071] Re: Gedit Print preview
Exactly what I first got ages ago. I've un-installed gedit and re-installed it. Same result. Wonder if this is a gnome thing? [Bug 328071] Re: Gedit Print preview
What Samuel is reporting is exactly what I saw ages ago. I've un- installed gedit and re-installed it. Same problem. Wonder if this is more gnome than gedit? Also if I print preview a few times the hole thing locks and I have to reboot ubuntu. Other than that gedit works fine. Other unrelated printer hick I tried to print a page from firefox and had no color. The cups test page for an epson 660 seemed to be printed to cyberspace. After a ubuntu reboot printing from cups test page was great and the article I needed printed okay. I still think it's better than XP. [Bug 328071] Re: Gedit Print preview
Just had an idea. Print to pdf then you can see what it prints. By the way print preview hangs preparing the page with the yellowish band across the top of the screen. I can system monitor kill the gedit process but next time I enter gedit I have the same problem. Suspect if I reboot it will be okay for several print previews. [Bug 328071] Re: Gedit Print preview
Hi Pedro, All that I did was to load an asc file attached by clicking it in the Nautilus 2.22.5.1 window, a few simple edits, then file/print and it should have printed two sheets and all that came out of the printer was the second sheet. I then did a file/print preview and the first page was not there either only the second page I expected to see both pages or at least the start of the first page. I tried loading and print preview a couple of other files with the same result. This is repeatable. It's still like that with only one file in Gedit. When it first manifested itself I had several files open for edit in Gedit. Also after a few tries Gedit got stuck trying to do a print preview. I had to reboot. I have used Gedit for some time including printing without any problems. The rest of the Gedit stuff still works okay, I'd prefer the Crimson editor but that's windows only. Anything else please let me know. I've also done the latest Ubuntu update without fixing anything. Ubuntu has a knack of both fixing and making problems with their updates. Regards Ian. Re: [Bug 203054] Re: install fails: BusyBox v1.1.3 (initramfs)
Maybe the DVD works on another machine but it may not be working on yours. Busy box seems to be a temporary set of shell commands to facilitate booting. I had the problem after an update. I fixed it by getting an updated CD and re-installation. When you put in the DVD select check DVD on your machine and reader. Good luck Ian.
