[Bug 1928489] [NEW] Regression: HDMI no-signal with higher resolution set-up

2021-05-14 Thread kamiccolo
Public bug reported:

After recent upgrade to 5.4.0-73-generic switching to 1920x1080
resolution started to fail with no signal passed to external HDMI TV.

Recognized modes:
DP-2-2 connected 1360x768+0+80 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 640mm
x 360mm
   1360x768  59.80*+
   1920x1080 60.00
   1024x768  60.00
   800x600   60.32
   640x480   59.94

To reproduce:
$ xrandr --verbose --output DP-2-2 --mode 1920x1080
screen 0: 2960x1160 772x302 mm  97.28dpi
crtc 1:1920x1080  60.00 +0+80 "DP-2-2"

Machine itself:
 - Lenovo L440 with docking station
 - Philips 32PFL3118T/12 (do support 1920x1080)

Any ideas how to proceed debugging this stuff?

[Bug 1844682] [NEW] ubuntu-bug _usr_bin_sudo.crash yields AttributeError

2019-09-19 Thread kamiccolo
Public bug reported:

While digging through /var/crash folder I've realized that I do have a
few crashes involving sudo. To be exact, couple of files names
_usr_bin_sudo.N.crash

Logically, I've tried uploading those to Ubuntu error tracker using
following:

ubuntu-bug  /var/crash/_usr_bin_sudo.0.crash

It failed mumbling about permissions. So, stupid but common next step:
sudo ubuntu-bug  /var/crash/_usr_bin_sudo.0.crash

yielded me the following Python Traceback:

** (apport-gtk:6825): WARNING **: Couldn't connect to accessibility bus: Failed
to connect to socket /tmp/dbus-ILURWtYdgA: Connection refused
ERROR: hook /usr/share/apport/package-hooks/source_sudo.py crashed:
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/apport/report.py", line 197, in _run_hook
symb['add_info'](report, ui)
  File "/usr/share/apport/package-hooks/source_sudo.py", line 20, in add_info
response = ui.yesno("The contents of your /etc/sudoers file may help
developers diagnose your bug more quickly, however, it may contain sensitive
information. Do you want to include it in your bug report?")
AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'yesno'

It seems that in the end, something got uploaded to the server, but it
didn't make any indication of successful upload what-so-ever. Repeating
the same sequence of actions does not yield the same Python Traceback
and exits gracefully.

Funny part is, that I was unable to hook another healthy HDD to any spare USB

[Bug 1719552] [NEW] Missing python-gi dependency, refuses to load.

2017-09-26 Thread kamiccolo
Public bug reported:

After fresh installation of gpviever0.5.2-1 on Ubuntu 16.04 machine it
refuses to start. To reproduce:

$ sudo apt-get install gpxviewer
$ gpxviewer ./example.gpx
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/bin/gpxviewer", line 28, in
from gi.repository import Gdk
ImportError: No module named gi.repository

After quick inspection I realized, package is missing python-gi dependencies.
Which allows it to start, even thought still keeps complaining:
