[Bug 1240336] Re: Not authorized to perform operation / Unable to determine the session we are in: No session for pid

2013-12-29 Thread locust
I have this problem after an update from 13.04 to 13.10 on an 32bit system.
It does not work:
- SD-cards
- USB disks
- 3D-acceleration (Intel card)

but if root login auto-mount does work
I login through mdm (mint petra)

[Bug 610422] Re: Nautilus has 100% CPU Usage since Kernel Upgrade in Lucid

2010-07-31 Thread locust
Hi, all
this very boring bug affects me too.

Same lucid-amd64 (on 32 bit version on other machine did'nt happen) kernel
2.6.31-15-generic, nvidia
nVidia Corporation G86 [GeForce 8400M GS] (rev a1), NVIDIA Driver Version
195.36.24

On my computer seems related more with Xorg or virtualfs than the version of
the kernel .
Actually it comes on very often logging in a user with an encripted (luks)
homedir.
Few days ago, after an upgrade regarding gnome libs too, seemed going better
(minor frequence) but now i get it again.
Lately it appeared using an old game dosbox (xorg jammed and soon xorg e
nautilus cpu-usage rocketed up an finally i get a 103% cpu usage for nautilus)
.
When it happens make computer really useles and stays so endless and i have to
reboot.

wich kind of log may I send to help debugging?
Many thanks in advance for your attention

2010-07-31 Thread locust
Hi, a last add-on
when this bug occurs i have always also a window with gnome-terminal open an a
firefox (a-browser) too.
The latter (very crappy ) one often suffers in execution of hidden scripts that
I suspect may be related with this behavior.
when overhelming usage (cpu or memory, see later) issue occurs disk remain
always furiously spinning.
In the last event cpu-usage was low but memory usage veri high more than 90%
(as top states).
Again, kind regards
D.

[Bug 571277] Re: Cant mount hdds on boot, and system boot in maintrance mode

2010-05-17 Thread locust
Hi, all
Hello, mr Scott (I figure you're the mantainer of mountall programm)

this bug is affecting me too NOW !

I did a fresh (may 15th) amd64 dist-upgrade from karmic to lucid on a HP
Pavillion dv 6000 notebook (intel core-duo, nvidia go 8300) and after reboot I
was not more able to boot with all kernels I experienced: neither with
2.6.31-15, nor 2.6.32-21,nor 2.6.34-2, nor with 2.6.28-11 generic kernel;
recovery mode doesn't work
I'm using mountall 2.15 and e2fslibs 1.41.11

Console hangs after fsck controls of last primary partition (/dev/sda4) (with
no errors report - prior, root partition fsck gone at well) ,
ctrl+alt+canc works (but no other input in the console).
I have no login on all consoles

I do not think is graphic card and Plymouth related as some people suggested ;
but perhaps is related to a Plymouth mountall error earlier shown.
I get a plymouth mount fail error message prior fsck and hang issue.

I think the problem could be also related to a ureadahead problem with fsck
too (pushing esc or F1 or whatsever similar a line something related appeared)

I found a workaround only. Booting from a Lucid CD i substituted my /etc/fsab
with the UUID entries with the one of the CD that is with no phisical entries
(swap excepted) . So I'm able to boot in the mainstream as root, then later
mount the home partition and finally login as user (so it's very slow and
annoying)
This is the /etc/fstab from CD boot (that goes!)

aufs / aufs rw 0 0
tmpfs /tmp tmpfs nosuid,nodev 0 0
/dev/sda7 swap swap defaults 0 0

This one is my usual /etc/fstab (doesn't work)
proc/proc procdefaults0 0
# /dev/sda8
UUID=uuid-number /   ext3relatime,errors=remount-ro 0   1
# /dev/sda2
UUID=uuid-number  /dosvfatutf8,umask=007,gid=46 0   1
# /dev/sda4
UUID=uuid-number /home   ext3relatime0   2
# /dev/sda7
UUID=uuid-number swapswapdefaults  0   0

/dev/scd0 /media/cdrom0 udf,iso9660 user,noauto,exec,utf8 0
0

This bug seems similar to 552018, 580883 (I filled it), 550499, 57144

Be patient but mountall is still not ok! I've seen on google that lot of
people are experiencing serious troubles in Lucid booting with similar issues
so perhaps the new boot engine is a little immature.
Can you suggest a way to not use Plymouth-mountall and use the old booting way
meanwhile?

Best regards and thank you for the hard work
David

[Bug 223650] Re: Intermittent sound problems in Hardy Heron 8.04 (Gnome and KDE desktops)

2008-09-21 Thread locust
same problem here, also playing from xine
Intrepid 64 - 2.6.27-3

On hda-intel laptop very bad intermittent audio also playing from disk ! It
looses sounds and seems related to alsa.
Very bad video playing. I already tried to remove pulse libs and artsd and so
over but made nothing.
Its not related with the alsasink stream issue, it's just a bad sound
implementation (too many sound frameworks alsa, esd, pulse, jack etc.).
Playing sounds from console (not X-terminal) works fine

on other cm 8378 pc not sound at all.
before upgrading to intrepid both machines worked fine.

[Bug 228806] Re: [MASTER] various unrelated crashes for firefox-3.0 and xulrunner-1.9

2008-09-14 Thread locust
I experienced somethings equal!
Heavy flash sites (f.e. www.corriere.it) easly lead to a crash.
The result was:
firefox crashed with SIGSEGV in XVisualIDFromVisual()

No idea about what this means (sorry)!
Best regards
David

[Bug 264094] Re: firefox crashed with SIGSEGV in XVisualIDFromVisual()

2008-09-14 Thread locust
same here !
 intrepid 64 - 2.6.27-3

But it seems perhaps also related to java (?)
On a heavy flash site (www.corriere.it ) firefox hangs on waiting from
js.corriere.it

[Bug 212280] Re: cups-pdf printer not generating PDF file.

2008-08-28 Thread locust
Me too !
Thu Aug 28 15:55:47 2008 [ERROR] failed to create directory (/home/david/PDF)
Thu Aug 28 15:55:47 2008 [ERROR] failed to create user output directory
(/home/david/PDF)

The issue is in permission troubles. setting 777 to my home dir solved
the problem but it's obviously a bad solution. (setting 777 to ~/PDF
was'nt enough)

I hope thath'll be usefull.

Best regards,
David C.

Thanks Gareth for your links, hope someone can provide a useful
 backtrace for K3B.

My personal experience led me to the conclusion that K3B doesn't not play
well on some configurations, i have now burnt about 10-15 DVDs with
gnomebaker without any issue so for me it is definitely related to K3B and
the way it uses the drive.
I can also confirm from my past experience that the best way to create such
crashes is to burn using the K3B verify feature.
Can someone with the problem confirm this trying gnomebaker or brasero
 instead of K3B ?

I agree for the verify issue.
Using nautilus burn utilities i had no problem. so it seems not related
to the drive ( Asus Quietrack)

I was not able to produce a backtrace. Kde bugtrace crashed too.

Best regards
David

[Bug 119258] Re: K3B is freezing system AFTER burning DVD

2008-04-09 Thread locust
Hi, all;
its some time i have the same problem.
I run Hardy
It happens in using more than one time the burner expecially when I ask for
verify written data: the driver eject the burned cd
but is not more able to reclose and proceed with verifying. Driver remains
open, I cancel the burning mask and seems that the driver remain in an
inconsistency status;
at the next burning try it hangs quite completly the pc. On tty I receive the
seguent error message:
hdb: driver not ready for command

where hdb is the cd .
good luck to all
david

When a cover designer inside k3b :-) ?
