I'm having the exact same behavior. Dell T300 server running Ubuntu 13.10. ( 3.11.0-15-generic #23-Ubuntu SMP Mon Dec 9 18:17:04 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux) eth0 fails, eth1 works flawlessly. 01:00.0 Ethernet controller [0200]: Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme BCM5722 Gigabit Ethernet PCI Express [14e4:165a] /var/log/kern.log:Jan 15 20:40:15 kernel: [ 78.704013] tg3 :01:00.0: vpd r/w failed. Fresh install of 8.04 on my dell d620 and I can see networks but it never connects. Re: [Bug 133020] Re: vmware server
Just did this yesterday and it worked like a champ. Thanks, Matt On 10/19/07, Marko Djukic [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Yes, I've seen this as well in the Gutsy final release I just upgraded to last night. vmware-server 1.0.3 will not run in Gutsy because of the kernel modules mismatch. Workaround: 1. Back up your license file found in: /etc/vmware/license.vs.1.0-00 or at least save the serial contained in that file somewhere. 2. Uninstall vmware-server 1.0.3 including purging all configuration. 3. Make sure you have the package build-essential 4. Download vmware-server 1.0.4 directly from http://vmware.com/download/server/ 5. Unpack and run vmware-install.pl, usually it is fine to accept all defaults, and enter the license key from step 1. and you should be back up and running. m. -- vmware server https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/133020 You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber of a duplicate bug. -- vmware server https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/133020 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
