[Bug 1041640] Re: Can't recive Data from Phone using Bluetooth

2012-10-20 Thread Richard Mote
This bug affects me as well. Using a Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone
running Android 4.0.4. Connection to phone turns itself on an off,
seemingly at random. File transfer of small files from computer to
phone has succeeded. Connections from phone to computer always fail.

[Bug 875659] [NEW] RT3090 wireless conflict with acer_wmi

2011-10-16 Thread mote
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu Desktop 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot AMD 64 on Lenovo Ideapad s205
(E-450)

Wireless is disabled in network manger.

In a thread on ubuntu forum i found this.

rfkill unblock wifi
rfkill unblock all
modprobe -r acer-wmi

It makes wireless work, but the network speed is awful, below 60kb/s and
my old eee netbook that's playing streamed internet-radio through same
router drops connections when i connect the s205.

I tried installing Wicd (removed network manager) with "rfkill unblock
all" in rc.local. It kinda works but network speed is unstable, falls in
speed after a couple of minutes, and ends up stopping completely.

I tried ndisgrabber blacklisting these drivers in:
/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
blacklist acer_wmi
blacklist rt2800pci
blacklist rt2800lib
blacklist rt2x00pci
blacklist rt2x00lib
blacklist rt2860sta

Ndisgrabber sees the adapter, but wireless does not show up in network manager.
(reinstalled of course).

I am not sure i have the same problem, i cannot locate the mentioned logs.

If i left shift boot and choose "try ubuntu" is boots into desktop.

After running several tests (all same results), using dash for 2-3 searches it

[Bug 757727] Re: Zeitgeist-daemon memory usage skyrockets after dash search

2011-08-29 Thread mote
I have this bug on both my two computers with Natty desktop i386, it is very
consistent. If i use dash a couple of times the zeitgeist-daemon memory usage
runs very high. 100 - 200+ Mb.
This bug can not be only on 64-bit.

[Bug 794466] Re: zeitgeist-daemon memory usage very high

2011-08-29 Thread mote
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 757727 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/757727

After re-installation the bug changed behaviour. The high memory usage after
login did stop, but I have the same bug as #757727. After using dash a couple
of times the Zeitgeist-daemon memory usage is very high.
I have this bug on two computers running Natty desktop i386. -there are nothing
special about my installations, they are pretty much standard.

Hi. I have lost patience with the missing functionality of the dash, and have
now reinstalled my computer.
The Zeitgeist problem has not been persistent after the re-installation, so
please close this bug.

[Bug 794466] Re: zeitgeist-daemon memory usage very high

2011-06-14 Thread mote
I installed the "Zeitgeist-extension-fts" again and logged out/in and the
system monitor reported memory usage of Zeitgeist-Damon to be 177,6 Mb.
After I again uninstalled "Zeitgeist-extension-fts", logged out/in, the memory
usage is down to 5,2 Mb.
During the weekend i noticed that my Dash search has broken, it cannot find
anything, and couldn't at the time after i reinstalled Zeitgeist-extension-fts.

[Bug 771788] Re: nVidia driver activated and apparently being used but reported as not being used by jockey-gtk

2011-06-14 Thread mote
Sorry for the late reply, I was away on extended weekend.
My "sudo lshw -C display" displays:

  *-display
   description: VGA compatible controller

   vendor: nVidia Corporation
   physical id: 0

   resources: irq:16 memory:fa00-faff memory:e000-efff

So it appears that the Nvidia driver is loaded and that Jockey displays the
wrong status of the driver.

[Bug 794466] Re: zeitgeist-daemon memory usage very high

2011-06-14 Thread mote
Hi, Manish. Thank you for your replies.
Sorry for my late reply, i was away on at extended week end.
I found out that the Compiz memory usage was related to an leaking indicator. I
have removed it completely.
As you requested i removed the "Zeitgeist-extension-fts" package and now the
memory usage of zeitgeist daemon is about 5,3 Mb and stable.
As i described in my "Bug Description" i have seen bug #757727 but am unsure
about if it is the same bug. My bug does not require a searches in dash for the
memory usage to run high, and it seems that it is related only to the 64 bit
version. -please advice.

I believe it disables the bug report, so that it is no longer considered
relevant.
The bug was reported during my testing of Natty alphas or betas. For me the bug
got solved along the way and is no longer a problem I encounter.
I you experience the bug, I think that it would be best to find a more active
bug report or make a new one as this bug report seems to have been ignored.

I have a "ASUS 802.11 b/g wireless LAN card" PCI card, It worked fine in
earlier versions but stopped working after upgrading to Lucid, and also it does
not work in Natty.
lspci reports "01:06.0 Network controller: Ralink corp. RT2500 802.11g (rev
01)", but it does not show up in "network Connection".
I do not have "- Device failed to enter state" in syslog from Natty

Is it the right bug for me to subscribe to?

Is there any chance it going to get fixed or should i go and get another
wireless adapter?

Thanks!
I was starring at the "ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.38-6.34-generic

number.
It all makes better sense now, thanks a lot!.

So if there are ath9k fixes in rc8, we will just sit tight and wait to
see if it solves it.

In Natty desktop i386 ISO dated 17. march the installer does not hang anymore.
On my laptop the installation completes successfully on my desktop in crashes

[Bug 735431] Re: BUG: scheduling while atomic: wpa_supplicant/754/0x10000500

2011-03-17 Thread mote
This is an answer to question from ITK in duplicate bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/729549

"ITK: Have you been able to test against the latest kernel?
2.6.38 rc-8 ?"

Installation of Natty has now been possible, but the bug remains.
I have used Natty Desktop i386 ISO dated 17. March.

"cat /proc/version" Returns:
Linux version 2.6.38-6-generic (buildd@rothera) (gcc version 4.5.2
(Ubuntu/Linaro 4.5.2-5ubuntu1) ) #34-Ubuntu SMP Tue Mar 8 14:09:10 UTC 2011

I have to admit that i am unsure what kernel RC it is, and can't seem find a
way to find out.
Please advice on how to proceed.

OK! thank you. - i will follow the threads closely.

I have desperately been trying to install Natty even on a USB Stick with
HD's disabled, but i have two bugs (completely unrelated to this) with
the ubiquity and ubi-partman. It looks like they will be fixed within a
couple of days, so i can install.

If there is anything else i can do, please tell me!

[Bug 729549] Re: Natty Alpha 3 Crashes when connectiong to Wi-Fi network

2011-03-14 Thread mote
Hi.
It is only possible to run apport-collect before the crashing/freezing, after
is impossible. -do you what me to run it before?

I am testing Natty from USB sticks created both with UNetbootin and Startup
Disk Creator, and today when booting from the USB stick made with Startup Disk
Creator it remembered that i tried to connect to my wireless network and
prompted me for the password to the network after booting up. At the same time
i got an error that i let the automatic error reporting handle. It is reported
as:
[Bug 734708] [NEW] BUG: scheduling while atomic: wpa_supplicant/2597/0x1500
I hope that it might be related to the Wi-Fi error. I often have different
crashes when booting Natty.
