Yes, it's resolved. Thanks. [Bug 293546] Re: DualHead with Intel causes X crash
Hi! I'm sorry, but it's working now. In fact before 8.10 I always edited the xorg.conf + gdm.conf manually without using graphical tools. This way of doing did not work anymore with 8.10. I then figured out that the good way of doing it with 8.10 was simply to let all the config files "unedited" (default) and use the graphical tools bundeled with Ubuntu. [Bug 293546] [NEW] DualHead with Intel causes X crash
Public bug reported: I have a Dell XPS 1210 notebook (1280*800) and a HP LCD 1955 screen (1280*1024). I WAS using 8.04 with a dual head config (no DRI). It was working good. I did a new install from 8.10. When configuring my Ubuntu 8.10 to start DualHead with Xinerama, X is crashing. This configuration was working very well under 8.04. In now causes X to crash under 8.10. Here is the stack trace: Backtrace: 0: /usr/X11R6/bin/X(xf86SigHandler+0x79) [0x80c3009] 1: [0xb80f0400] 2: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers//intel_drv.so [0xb7b640dd] 3: /usr/X11R6/bin/X [0x80caec4] 4: /usr/X11R6/bin/X [0x80cb02a] 5: /usr/X11R6/bin/X(xf86HandleColormaps+0x21a) [0x80cbf3a] 6: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers//intel_drv.so [0xb7b66d70] 7: /usr/X11R6/bin/X(AddScreen+0x19f) [0x807137f] 8: /usr/X11R6/bin/X(InitOutput+0x206) [0x80aa536] 9: /usr/X11R6/bin/X(main+0x279) [0x8071b19] 10: /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6(__libc_start_main+0xe5) [0xb7cf9685] 11: /usr/X11R6/bin/X [0x8071101] Saw signal 11. Server aborting. (II) intel(0): xf86UnbindGARTMemory: unbind key 0 (II) intel(0): xf86UnbindGARTMemory: unbind key 1 I've tried with the default Intel driver that comes with the ubuntu release (2.4.1) AND with the latest 2.5 driver (self-compiled). No difference. If I play with the Virtual Screen size, setting it too big : no effect. Setting it smaller than the maximum (2048 2048), X is crashing the same way. I've also tried to configure my dual head with the GUI tool in ubuntu. it's just not working. Please help I'm thinking on rebuilding the very latest X server myself. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- DualHead with Intel causes X crash https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/293546 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
