[Bug 657995] [NEW] USB disk detected as 2 disks
Public bug reported: When I plug in my USB disk it is detected as 2 disks in Ubuntu 10.10. This was not an issue with 10.04. Also after plugging in the USB disk it takes a long time for the drive to mount. The device detected as sdb is the correct one. I have also tried to mount this disk with 10.04 live and it was fine. Currently I have a fresh install of Ubuntu 10.10 where I am facing this bug. dmesg output is as follows: [10540.468100] usb 1-3: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 3 [10540.603999] scsi3 : usb-storage 1-3:1.0 [10543.481572] scsi 3:0:0:0: Direct-Access FUJITSU MHV2040AT PQ: 0 ANSI: 0 [10543.483909] scsi 3:0:0:1: Direct-Access FUJITSU MHV2040AT PQ: 0 ANSI: 0 [10564.176094] usb 1-3: reset high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 3 [10574.424048] usb 1-3: reset high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 3 [10590.672047] usb 1-3: reset high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 3 [10590.924124] usb 1-3: reset high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 3 [10601.172070] usb 1-3: reset high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 3 [10601.305446] scsi 3:0:0:2: Device offlined - not ready after error recovery [10601.327732] sd 3:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg2 type 0 [10601.327903] sd 3:0:0:1: Attached scsi generic sg3 type 0 [10602.128932] sd 3:0:0:0: [sdb] 78140160 512-byte logical blocks: (40.0 GB/37.2 GiB) [10602.129550] sd 3:0:0:1: [sdc] 3676379942 512-byte logical blocks: (1.88 TB/1.71 TiB) [10602.130672] sd 3:0:0:0: [sdb] Write Protect is off [10602.130676] sd 3:0:0:0: [sdb] Mode Sense: 27 00 00 00 [10602.130678] sd 3:0:0:0: [sdb] Assuming drive cache: write through [10602.131923] sd 3:0:0:1: [sdc] Write Protect is off [10602.131927] sd 3:0:0:1: [sdc] Mode Sense: 27 00 00 00 [10602.131930] sd 3:0:0:1: [sdc] Assuming drive cache: write through [10602.135298] sd 3:0:0:0: [sdb] Assuming drive cache: write through [10602.135304] sdb: [10602.136424] sd 3:0:0:1: [sdc] Assuming drive cache: write through [10602.136429] sdc: sdb1 [10602.546085] sdc1 [10602.552180] sd 3:0:0:0: [sdb] Assuming drive cache: write through [10602.552187] sd 3:0:0:0: [sdb] Attached SCSI disk [10602.553290] sd 3:0:0:1: [sdc] Assuming drive cache: write through [10602.553295] sd 3:0:0:1: [sdc] Attached SCSI disk [10602.595176] sd 3:0:0:1: [sdc] Device not ready [10602.595181] sd 3:0:0:1: [sdc] Result: hostbyte=DID_OK driverbyte=DRIVER_SENSE [10602.595186] sd 3:0:0:1: [sdc] Sense Key : Not Ready [current] [10602.595191] sd 3:0:0:1: [sdc] Add. I still have this issue with 2.30.2-0ubuntu5. Am I missing something or did something break in evolution again? I'm on Ubuntu 10.04. I have both jacob/evo230 and suraia PPAs enabled.
