[Bug 1136644] Re: gedit search function is not practical anymore
i dont think so. i find the use of CTRL+F and ESCAPE disturbing. when i search for something, i would rather like to remain at the found instance, and not jump back to where i was. additionally, this new automatic search makes the program very slow with longer files. thank you, v. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1136644 Title: gedit search function is not practical anymore To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gedit/+bug/1136644/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1136644] [NEW] gedit search function is not practical anymore
Public bug reported: i use gedit a lot, and i find it comfortable in general. the new small search window is extremely impractical. FOCUS PROBLEM: CTRL+F type a search (search of longer strings FAR TOO SLOW) find and now, typing ESC brings one back to the former place! when trying to use CTRL-F again, the search string is replaced by new text. if one wants to stay in the found passage, one must use the mouse/touchpad to click into the text. this is an extremely annoying feature/behavior. i simply would like to have the old search window + its behavior back. i am working very quickly and mostly using shortcuts. gedit now completely interrupts my way of working. additionally, where are the other search functions such as case- sensitive search? additionally, i do not want the search function to slow down so much. for me it is ok to start the search after i have finished typing my search string :-) this new energy-consuming ZEITGEIST-etc-fashion is not good for quick workers with serious amounts of data. best wishes, vollmanr ** Affects: gedit (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1136644 Title: gedit search function is not practical anymore To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gedit/+bug/1136644/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 458393] Re: BadTransition: SYS_SERVER_RESCAN_DONE
hi, i don't know myself how to automate your workaround. thank you for the reply. after deleting all files from ubuntu one local, i started a new lifecycle with ubuntu one. i don't risk using ubuntu one productively, but i copy backup files there; for now, it seems to work. all this after opening linux backport modules and thereby solving my wireless problem. best wishes, ralf On Sat, Nov 21, 2009 at 9:43 PM, battmanux battm...@free.fr wrote: Hi, The bug I have (had) is marked as duplicate of this one. hi, thank you for the reply. i had an upgrade problem from 9.04 to 9.10 with wireless (AR928X) connectivity troubles until complete crashes. it is reported somewhere that there is a problem with the kernel versions 2.6.30 and 2.6.31 and ATH9K. installing backports (incl. kervel's) solved the problem completely in the meantime. no more troubles, also with ubuntu one which i also started anew. best wishes, r. -- BadTransition: SYS_SERVER_RESCAN_DONE https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/458393 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a subscriber of a duplicate bug. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
