seems nautilus crashed for you, as there is no panel shadow + there are
no desktop icons (while I saw in a another bug you just reported there
were icons on the desktop). unity is known to not work properly if
nautilus crashes. there is already a bug on that. see bug 952321

   Misbehaviour when all windows are minimized and nautilus show-desktop-icons
