Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem? Setup: 1. Have 32-channel USB sound card and a builtin sound card. 2. Concurrently: 2a. mplayer to play over USB channels 1 and 2 via a plug 2b. mplayer to play over USB channels 3 and 4 via a plug Then, to produce issue: 3. While they are playing, mplayer to play over builtin sound card. All sound cards hang. Have to hard reboot laptop.
