[Bug 298209] Re: [i965GM] Cannot set native resolution in Intrepid/Jaunty
We're closing this bug since it is has been some time with no response from the original reporter. However, if the issue still exists please feel free to reopen with the requested information. Also, if you could, please test against the latest development version of Ubuntu, since this confirms the bug is one we may be able to pass upstream for help. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Invalid -- [i965GM] Cannot set native resolution in Intrepid/Jaunty https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/298209 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 298209] Re: [i965GM] Cannot set native resolution in Intrepid/Jaunty
[This is an automatic notification.] A new major version of the -intel driver is now available in Karmic. This version includes a major reworking of the acceleration architecture, which resolves a huge number of issues. We do not know whether it resolves the issue you reported. Would you mind testing Karmic Alpha-2 and seeing if it is still a problem? CD ISO images are available here: http://cdimages.ubuntu.com/releases/karmic/ If the issue can still be reproduced on karmic, please report here with your findings, and attach a fresh Xorg.0.log from your test, and we will be able to forward the bug upstream. Otherwise, if the bug no longer exists in Karmic, let us know that as well. In the off chance you encounter different bugs while attempting to test Karmic, please report those as new bug reports. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => New ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- [i965GM] Cannot set native resolution in Intrepid/Jaunty https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/298209 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 298209] Re: [i965GM] Cannot set native resolution in Intrepid/Jaunty
I have a similar issue on my HP TC4400. Is the issue likely to be related to the auto-detection of the built in panel, which only supports 1024x768? Normally at my desk I run an external monitor 1600x1200. No problems in previous versions and other distros with 915resolution. Updated to 9.04, now no luck with getting any resolution beyond 1024x768. lspci | grep VGA 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03) lspci -vvnn 00:00.0 Host bridge [0600]: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/PM/GMS, 943/940GML and 945GT Express Memory Controller Hub [8086:27a0] (rev 03) Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Company Device [103c:30b1] Control: I/O- Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- DisINTx- Status: Cap+ 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B+ ParErr- DEVSEL=fast >TAbort- SERR- Kernel driver in use: agpgart-intel Kernel modules: intel-agp 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:27a2] (rev 03) Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Company Device [103c:30b1] Control: I/O+ Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- DisINTx- Status: Cap+ 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B+ ParErr- DEVSEL=fast >TAbort- SERR- Kernel modules: intelfb 00:02.1 Display controller [0380]: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS/GME, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:27a6] (rev 03) Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Company Device [103c:30b1] Control: I/O+ Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- DisINTx- Status: Cap+ 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B+ ParErr- DEVSEL=fast >TAbort- SERR- 00:1b.0 Audio device [0403]: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller [8086:27d8] (rev 01) Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Company Device [103c:30b1] Control: I/O- Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- DisINTx- Status: Cap+ 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B- ParErr- DEVSEL=fast >TAbort- SERR- Kernel driver in use: HDA Intel Kernel modules: snd-hda-intel 00:1c.0 PCI bridge [0604]: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) PCI Express Port 1 [8086:27d0] (rev 01) Control: I/O+ Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- DisINTx+ Status: Cap+ 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B- ParErr- DEVSEL=fast >TAbort- SERR- TAbort- Reset- FastB2B- PriDiscTmr- SecDiscTmr- DiscTmrStat- DiscTmrSERREn- Capabilities: Kernel driver in use: pcieport-driver Kernel modules: shpchp 00:1c.1 PCI bridge [0604]: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) PCI Express Port 2 [8086:27d2] (rev 01) Control: I/O+ Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- DisINTx+ Status: Cap+ 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B- ParErr- DEVSEL=fast >TAbort- SERR- TAbort- Reset- FastB2B- PriDiscTmr- SecDiscTmr- DiscTmrStat- DiscTmrSERREn- Capabilities: Kernel driver in use: pcieport-driver Kernel modules: shpchp 00:1c.3 PCI bridge [0604]: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) PCI Express Port 4 [8086:27d6] (rev 01) Control: I/O+ Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- DisINTx+ Status: Cap+ 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B- ParErr- DEVSEL=fast >TAbort- SERR- TAbort- Reset- FastB2B- PriDiscTmr- SecDiscTmr- DiscTmrStat- DiscTmrSERREn- Capabilities: Kernel driver in use: pcieport-driver Kernel modules: shpchp 00:1d.0 USB Controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB UHCI Controller #1 [8086:27c8] (rev 01) Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Company Device [103c:30b1] Control: I/O+ Mem- BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- DisINTx- Status: Cap- 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B+ ParErr- DEVSEL=medium >TAbort- SERR- TAbort- SERR- TAbort- SERR- TAbort- SERR- TAbort- SERR- Kernel driver in use: ehci_hcd 00:1e.0 PCI bridge [0604]: Intel Corporation 82801 Mobile PCI Bridge [8086:2448] (rev e1) (prog-if 01) Control: I/O+ Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR+ FastB2B- DisINTx- Status: Cap+ 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B- ParErr- DEVSEL=fast >TAbort- SERR- TAbort- Reset- FastB2B- PriDiscTmr- SecDiscTmr- DiscTmrStat- DiscTmrSERREn- Capabilities: 00:1f.0 ISA bridge [0601]: Intel Corporation 82801GBM (ICH7-M) LPC Interface Bridge [8086:27b9] (rev 01) Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Company Device [103c:30b1] Control: I/O+ Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- DisINTx- Status: Cap+ 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B- ParErr- DEVSEL=medium >TAbort- SERR- Kernel modules:

[Bug 298209] Re: [i965GM] Cannot set native resolution in Intrepid
[This is an automatic notice.] We'd like to forward your bug upstream, however upstream requires that you first test it against their newer driver code. To save you the effort of building the driver from source, we've built packages for the driver and its new dependencies. So you have a couple options: 1. Download and test .debs for intrepid, from: https://edge.launchpad.net/~intel-gfx-testing/+archive -or- 2. Download and test the Jaunty alpha-2 (or newer) Live CD, (which includes a beta of the new xserver 1.6 as well). See http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/9.04/ for ISOs Thanks ahead of time! You can simply reply to this email to report your findings.
