I found this very good job! sorry for not replying earlier I previously didn't read this document : http://www.n-view.net/Appliance/fingerprint/ubuntu-step-by-step.pdf It works with the known limitations under ubuntu : wireless network, screensaver ... you still have to use a pwd. but to log in, or to use sudo commands it works perfectly !!! Khashayar Naderehvandi : There is no ubuntu packages, you have to use the install.sh file in the archive you can download here : http://www.n-view.net/Appliance//fingerprint/download_current.php Then follow the document I just mentioned. I hope it'll be hellpful ;-) -- Upek TouchStrip (147e:1000) not recognized https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/301567 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 301567] Re: Upek TouchStrip (147e:1000) not recognized
Sorry for not being clear, with "that", I mean: "Using libfprint0 package ( fprint project @ http://reactivated.net/fprint/ ) and GUI from http://www.pdfserver.net/fingerprint I can get it working by selecting the "unknown" device." But since you write "package", I guess you're using the intrepid packages...? -- Upek TouchStrip (147e:1000) not recognized https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/301567 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

@Pawell: That doesn't seem to work for me. [Bug 301567] Re: Upek TouchStrip (147e:1000) not recognized
I tried the way Pawell said, and you can actually scann your fingers but the GUI has to be launched as root (I don't know how to change the permission for users for the fingerprint reader). And I don't know how to use your fingerprints because no PAM service works for me. I use Ubuntu 8.10, maybe you have to install some precise libpam-something packages (I've tried some but none worked). To Arthur Kuhon : this wiki is only to use fprint packages and this project doesn't yet recognize the Upek TouchStrip (147e:1000). -- Upek TouchStrip (147e:1000) not recognized https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/301567 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
