[Bug 326404] Re: What happened to widgets in Kubuntu?
So I found out the problem but I'm not clear why it is so. When we install kde via the nightly build (with the neon repo enabled) it installed kde 4.2 with the google gadgets that a lot of people are looking for. I've already posted in the kubuntu forums to let people know that using the regular kde 4.2 repo we don't get the extensive list of gadgets. I hope that they are added to the experimental repo soon, until then I'm going to go with the kde-nightly build. [Bug 326404] Re: What happened to widgets in Kubuntu?
Sorry last post, I have found quite a few forums with the same concern, some people are saying that it's a licensing issue but here are a couple links that I think is what I'm talking about, one person says they have it up and running but no one can pinpoint how: http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/index.php?topic=3101246.0 http://forum.kde.org/google-gadgets-in-kubuntu-kde-4-2-t-28883.html -- What happened to widgets in Kubuntu? https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/326404 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 326404] Re: What happened to widgets in Kubuntu?
I don't think this is what I'm talking about as I did download about 20 of them on my first install of Kubuntu through the method that I listed, just went to "download new widgets" selected the google source, scanned through about 30 pages of widgets and one click downloaded them. I was using at least 10 on my desktop before I decided to try OpenSuse for a bit, then went back to Kubuntu and couldn't find those ones again :( -- What happened to widgets in Kubuntu? https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/326404 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 326404] Re: What happened to widgets in Kubuntu?
Oh yeah and that was on KDE 4.2 I believe, if not it was 4.1 but I'm almost positive I had upgraded to 4.2 -- What happened to widgets in Kubuntu? https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/326404 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 326404] Re: What happened to widgets in Kubuntu?
In previous versions of KDE, widgets that weren't actually downloadable were always listed in the get new widgets window. The list now reflects what is actually downloadable. We do have quite a few Plasma widgets available in the repositories, however. :-) If you have a hankering for plasmoids I'd suggest searching for plasmoid in Adept or Synaptic. If you come across a widget that we don't have packaged, please file a needs-packaging bug and we'll look in to packaging it. :) ** Changed in: ubuntu Status: New => Invalid -- What happened to widgets in Kubuntu? https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/326404 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
