[Bug 738600] Re: flash 10.2 plugin crashes when leaving full-screen with nvidia 270.30
Well, I think for more log data next step would be to look up firefox debugging procedures and gather a backtrace (using gdb or other debugger) for flashplugin. I'd probably also look up other known-issues using flashplugin full screen, this bug sounds vaguely familiar from when I was looking at flash bugs a while back. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/738600 Title: flash 10.2 plugin crashes when leaving full-screen with nvidia 270.30 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 738600] Re: flash 10.2 plugin crashes when leaving full-screen with nvidia 270.30
It could of course be due to flash being flaky; I filed it against nvidia-current because I can show it's a regression between the nvidia 260.19.44 and 270.30 drivers using the same flash plugin, ie because in Maverick it works with 260.19.44 but doesn't with 270.30. Does anyone have suggestions on how to get more relevant log data? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/738600 Title: flash 10.2 plugin crashes when leaving full-screen with nvidia 270.30 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Surely you aren't saying the glx module is not loaded if you install the drivers from nvidia.com? It certainly does get loaded - here it is in Xorg.0.log for 260.19.44: [52.970] (II) LoadModule: "glx" [52.994] (II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libglx.so [53.006] (II) Module glx: vendor="NVIDIA Corporation" [53.006]compiled for 4.0.2, module version = 1.0.0 [53.006]Module class: X.Org Server Extension [53.006] (II) NVIDIA GLX Module 260.19.44 Sun Feb 27 22:56:46 PST 2011 [53.006] (II) Loading extension GLX Anyway, the glx issue is not really relevant. flash crashes in Natty using the standard Ubuntu nvidia-current driver. I only mentioned 260.19.44 because it is the last known working version. ** Changed in: nvidia-graphics-drivers (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/738600 Title: flash 10.2 plugin crashes when leaving full-screen with nvidia 270.30 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 738600] Re: flash 10.2 plugin crashes when leaving full-screen with nvidia 270.30
Yes, I have flashblock installed, but the sites I was visiting (eg youtube) are in the whitelist. In Maverick I installed both 260.19.44 and 270.30 from nvidia.com. [Bug 738600] Re: flash 10.2 plugin crashes when leaving full-screen with nvidia 270.30
Do you have any plugins like flashblock installed by any chance? Where did you install nvidia 260.19.44 from? If it was from nvidia.com you don't have glx in the first place which full screen flash uses so that is probably why it worked, installing outside of the package manager breaks GL.

Actually that might not be relevant - I get it with nvidia 260.19.44 as well, where flash doesn't crash.
Here's a small error dump from firefox: The program 'npviewer.bin' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadDrawable (invalid Pixmap or Window parameter)'. (Details: serial 668 error_code 9 request_code 139 minor_code 26) (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously; that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it. To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.) *** NSPlugin Wrapper *** WARNING:(/build/buildd/nspluginwrapper-1.2.2/src/npw-wrapper.c:1854):invoke_NPP_Destroy: assertion failed: (rpc_method_invoke_possible(plugin->connection)) *** NSPlugin Wrapper *** ERROR: NPObject 0x7f3697aa0330 is no longer valid! [Bug 738600] Re: flash 10.2 plugin crashes when leaving full-screen with nvidia 270.30
** Description changed: In Firefox, navigate to any flash video (eg on YouTube) and play it full screen. Press ESC to exit full-screen, and it crashes - the Firefox tab turns blank (black in FF 4, light grey in FF 3.6.15). Refreshing the page will restart flash, but of course any flash videos that start in full-screen mode can only be viewed in full-screen mode. This only happens with the 270.30 beta nvidia driver - flash works fine with the 260.19.44 stable driver. The same is true in Maverick (it works with the stable driver but not the beta driver).
