[Bug 778979]
Dear Christopher M. Penalver, To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year. There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present. If you have time, please do the following: Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. Please DO NOT Update the version field Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker) Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case) If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so: 1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/ 2. Test your bug 3. Leave a comment with your results. 4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo'; 4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: https://web.libera.chat/?settings=#libreoffice-qa Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone! Created attachment 95877 Original Launchpad testcase. (In reply to comment #5) Created attachment 95876 [details] Screenshot in v4.1.4.2 showing correct (expected) rendering. This bug now appears to be fixed. Please disregard my entire comment #5. It appears the original post in the freedesktop bugzilla has the edited (fixed) testcase attached and not the original (problematic) testcase. Creating the example formulas in a new document, exhibits the same issue i.e., diacritics above Greek characters being cropped, and superscript against Greek characters being misplaced. Similarly, opening the original Launchpad testcase in v4.1.4.2 and v4.2.0.4 still shows the problem. I am attaching the original Launchpad testcase (and obsoleting the original freedesktop attachment) for clarity. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/778979 Title: [Upstream] Writer Formula horizontal Spacing not honored To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/df-libreoffice/+bug/778979/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 778979] Re: Italic Greek letters have problems being rendered with elements in power and circumflex
Thank you for the answer and useful tips. The solution works perfectly for circumflex, but the symbols in power still look awkward as they are only shifted in height but not in width. I've attached a screenshot of what the suggested settings helped me achieve with the test ODT file. Is the settings causing circumflex invisible specific to my system or is it a default behavior? If it is default, I guess it should be altered so an average user would not have issues with iGreek symbols. Symbols in power, in my opinion, still need some positioning fixing as they look awkward (and still even touches their base). ** Attachment added: Screenshot of what altered settings achieved https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/778979/+attachment/2119390/+files/Screenshot.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/778979 Title: Italic Greek letters have problems being rendered with elements in power and circumflex -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 778979] Re: Italic Greek letters have problems being rendered with elements in power and circumflex
Darius Kulikauskas, thank you for reporting this bug and helping make Ubuntu better. One is able to edit the spacing of the border and index respectively via the Terminal: cd ~/Desktop wget https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/778979/+attachment/2118088/+files/test.odt lowriter -nologo test.odt Double click first icon - click Format - Spacing... - change Category drop down to Border - change Top combo box to 1.00mm - OK button Double click third icon - click Format - Spacing... - change Category drop down to Indexes - change Spacing combo box to 50% - OK button Does that work for you? lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 11.04 Release:11.04 apt-cache policy libreoffice-writer libreoffice-writer: Installed: 1:3.3.2-1ubuntu5 Candidate: 1:3.3.2-1ubuntu5 Version table: *** 1:3.3.2-1ubuntu5 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ natty-proposed/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 1:3.3.2-1ubuntu4 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ natty/main i386 Packages ** Changed in: libreoffice (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/778979 Title: Italic Greek letters have problems being rendered with elements in power and circumflex -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 778979] [NEW] Italic Greek letters have problems being rendered with elements in power and circumflex
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: libreoffice After upgrade from Ubuntu 10.10 64-bit to Ubuntu 11.04 64-bit I have noticed that all of my previous thesis work had all of the Greek symbols changed from italic to no italic. I suppose that happened because there was iGreek character set introduced. With a bit of frustration I changed all of the parameters to italic. However, my problems did not end there. I've noticed that some iGreek letters are wrongly rendered when they have circumflex on them (e. g. {hat %ilambda}) or elements in power (e. g. {%itheta^(b)}). In the first case, circumflex is not visible at all or only the very bottom of it can be seen in the print or PDF export of the document. In the second case elements in power intersect with the symbol. The problem can be fixed with a workaround like inserting ~ or ` symbols to make elements not intersect each other or taking an iGreek letter to an empty (e. g. {^{{}}^{}}) power to make circumflex visible. I have attached an ODT document with example for everyone to see what I mean. I've also attached pictures of what I mean.
