I would close this off. I haven't done a network install for ubuntu in a long time now and it's unlikely I'll have a chance/need to in the immediate future. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the newest release - Hardy Heron. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next release of Ubuntu. [Bug 87340] Re: http install looking for wrong file version
I have to agree with Jay, the solution isn't practical for anything other than home / very small builds. The expected behaviour would be for the installer to look where its told and ignore other sources. Alternatively it could connect to the internet for a secondary list and then prompt the user to either install fully from the CD/DVD only or use the CD/DVD as a base and download only newer packages from the internet. Being honest I would be a fan of the 2nd option i have listed as it would allow me to have a fully up to date version at install. -- http install looking for wrong file version https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/87340 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 87340] Re: http install looking for wrong file version
Confirmed here too. The above solution is not practical on a production network where other workstations need to access the network. The above solution would involve physically moving the machine to a separate network and may not be practical in many situations.
Solved: The real problem is that the machine is connecting to the Internet and it downloads the list of available packages, but the CD does not have them. I solved this problem having my DHCP server not giving a default route to the computer being installed. -- http install looking for wrong file version https://launchpad.net/bugs/87340 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
