[Bug 5890] Re: Video Out GUI
Since Jaunty there is now the package "xorg-options-editor-gtk" which let's you edit the xorg.conf with a GUI. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/OptionsEditor for more information. [Bug 5890] Re: Video Out GUI
Yes like that. A TV should be detected kind of like any other screen. It should be identified as a TV. It should be detected by xrandr and configured in the display configuration dialog. -- Video Out GUI https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/5890 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

what do you call video out? should a TV be detected as any other screen by xrandr and be configured in the display configuration dialog? ** Changed in: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete ** Changed in: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Ubuntu Desktop Bugs (desktop-bugs) -- Video Out GUI https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/5890 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 5890] Re: Video Out GUI
With the current state of Xorg (the current year, 2008) if there is a way for it to auto detect while in X than there won't be a need for it. But back in the day (the year 2005) there probably should be a gui for it. Something like the current Screen Resolution dialog box with a check box for video out. [Bug 5890] Re: Video Out GUI
I'm sorry; then I missunderstood you. I am myself not sure about what a Video Out GUI should look like. Btw: The xorg.conf is becoming smaller and smaller. I think this bug will soon be invalid since less people even have to care about their xorg.conf. [Bug 5890] Re: Video Out GUI
Hi Martin, I did not forward this bug, I just noted in launchpad that it should be forwarded. If you are familiar with what features would be desired in a Video Out GUI then please report a bug on bugzilla.gnome.org and report the bug number back here. [Bug 5890] Re: Video Out GUI
Thank you James for taking care of forwarding this upstream. Can you link the upstream report here, or haven't you done this because of a specific reason? -- Video Out GUI https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/5890 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 5890] Re: Video Out GUI
Hi, I've opened an upstream task for this bug, as I think this should be discussed with the developers of gnome-display-properties, as it may well be suitable for that tool to do this. However, I am not familiar enough with video out and what setting it up entails to file the enhancement request at GNOME's bugzilla. The upstream task will serve as a reminder that this needs to be done. [Bug 5890] Re: Video Out GUI
Video out has been one of the most frustrating issues for me in Linux. A nice guy for adjusting monitor properties such as resolution, color depth, and options such as TV out. Ubuntu is fairly easy to use, but I would love to see someone's mother setup TV out in Linux. -- Video Out GUI https://launchpad.net/bugs/5890 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
