I think my issue is slightly different than the one being discussed here even if it's the same software defect. I'm going to open a new bug report and mark this one as a duplicate of that. Erics workaround does indeed work, im fully updated on 11.10. After I made a new clean installation of the Beta 1 gwibber works fine with me now. Even with facebook. After several attempts, I set up Facebook feed. Yet I don't see any news comming. Program freezes after clicking Facebook on Gwibber's panel. After several attempts it opens FB feed.
