If I am not associated with any bugs,why am I getting 40 e-mails per
hour about a bug I merely reported this morning?  This happens every
time I decide to report a bug.  I get put on these unending e-mail
sprays and it takes an act of Congress to get off.  Launchpad needs
better subscription controls.  Where can I submit THAT as a bug?

Please stop sending any more workarounds; These are sure to confuse new
users, and the bug is now fixed in the latest upload, and updating the
system fixes the mess for me, and for Chris, and (I hope) others as
well.
