[Bug 240387] Re: php5-ldap TLS (start_tls) quirks

2008-06-25 Thread Adam Sommer
I think I was able to reproduce this, but the start_tls errors were
intermittent. I'm testing on an P3 448MHz, and initially had the error
quite frequently. I then updated all the packages on the system and the
error became less frequent. I also updated the slapd indexes to match
our production system. After updating the indexs using slapindex, it
was much harder to recreate the error.

For me it only seemed to happen when slapd was under heavy load, and
only with php5-ldap I also tested with python-ldap and didn't see the
error. Additionally I kept Apache configured with authnz-ldap during my
tests. I ran slapd from console using:

  sudo slapd -u openldap -g openldap -f /etc/ldap/slapd -d -1

and didn't see any errors between when an start_tls error occurred and
when one didn't.

Can you post your indexes from /etc/ldap/slapd.conf?

Thanks,
Adam

[Bug 242956] [NEW] Bind9 (8.04) not returning 'ad' flag when dnssec is enabled

2008-06-25 Thread buecking
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: bind9

% lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 8.04
Release:8.04

% apt-cache policy bind9
bind9:
  Installed: 1:9.4.2-10
  Candidate: 1:9.4.2-10
  Version table:
 *** 1:9.4.2-10 0
500 http://ubuntu-ashisuto.ubuntulinux.jp hardy/main Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

% cat /etc/resolv.conf
nameserver 127.0.0.1
options edns0

When running dig against dns server w/DNSSEC enabled it is expected that
named should return the ad flag for authenticated records; however, this
system is not returning the correct response. If I query asking for
+dnssec the ad flag is properly returned - as expected.

Without the ad flag I am not able to use ssh VerifyHostKeyDNS.

I have two systems with identical named configs. System A is a NetBSD
machine running Bind 9.4.2 built against OpenSSL 0.9.8d 28 Sep 2006, and
System B Ubuntu 8.04 running Bind 9.4.2 built against OpenSSL 0.9.8g 19
Oct 2007.

If I dig @system-a foo.example.com A the ad flag is return; but as I
mentioned above if I dig @system-b foo.example.com A the ad flag is not
returned even though the configurations are exactly the same.

When quering for an SSHFP record both servers, a and b, return the same
SSHFP record in the results.

[Bug 243098] [NEW] samba in folder properties doesn't interact with samba in system administration

2008-06-25 Thread mattmill30
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: samba

The samba tab located in a folders properties dialog box doesn't
interact or share information with the samba program located in system
administration.

I setup a new share on a particular folder in the folder properties tab
samba but when i came to administrate the share using the samba program
in the system administration menu, the program believed the folder
wasn't even being shared. However it as because i was able to access it,
having setup the share using the folders properties dialog.

I'm not 100% sure if the samba program located in the system
administration menu is available by default or whether i installed it
separately. However if i did install it separately it will definitely be
from synaptic package manager. The name of the program is Samba Server
Configuration.

went fine.
It is possible you didn't find you reader. Mine is just under my pcmcia slot,
it is just a 1 mm on 4cm thin slot.

Still, this driver will only make your smart card reader work. You should also
try the latest sources at:

There is also a mailing list on for this driver:

I hope this helps,

[Bug 190857] Re: no screens found for IGP 320M

2008-06-25 Thread Matthias
So I kept on playing with it a little more with the default xorg.conf
file, which produces the 1280x768 output on the LVDS.

Like I said the LVDS is still not being detected, but since X assumes a
default screen size of 1280x768 on the non-attached external display I
did some more experimentation and found that the following results in
something useful on the screen with direct rendering enabled:

  # build a modeline - the following works for me
  gtf 1024 768 78.654
  # then use the output from above (everything after the word modeline)
  # to set the resolution of the non-existent external monitor
  xrandr --newmode 1024x768_78.65 87.02 1024 1088 1200 1376 768 769 772
804 -HSync +Vsync

  xrandr --addmode VGA-0 1024x768_78.65

  xrandr --output VGA-0 --mode 1024x768_78.65

I think it's still problematic that the LVDS is not detected, since it keeps me
from running dual headed, but at least the laptop is semi-functional. I've
attached the current xrandr output after the above tweaks.

I did see this too, however, i changed the binary to /usr/bin/php, worked

So the only thing needed, it to change the binary used to /usr/bin/php. Thats
it.

And because /usr/bin/php is an alternative symlink, it works either with
version 4 or 5, no need to ever change something again at the kronolith2
reminder script when the line reads:

[Bug 185311] Re: hardy, locking assertion failure, xorg/libsdl

2008-06-25 Thread oschwa2s
Sorry, I cannot confirm that. I removed and reinstalled openoffice.org-
gnome and openoffice.org-gtk several times and the bug came back every
time. Note that you can launch any number of instances respectively open
new windows of openoffice writer/calc/impress or whatever as soon as you
got at least one instance running. You can open a initial instance by
calling /usr/lib/openoffice/program/soffice.bin directly (with or
without the bug).

[Bug 93417] Re: Image scaling bug in gspca kernel module.

2008-06-25 Thread Suzan
I've tried this patch, which didn't worked for the official Skype
version.

Now I uninstalled the officially version and installed the Skype
packages (skype, skype-common, version 2.0.0.72-0medibuntu1) from the
medibuntu respositories. And know, what - it works now with this
package! Not sure though, if it is now the patch together with the
medibuntu Skype version or only the medibuntu Skype version.

Though the medibuntu packages are somehow different from the original
Skype. Thinking about how that can be with a closed source program? To
be honest, I have no idea, but it seems something is different. May some
of you would try that medibuntu package also?

Ubuntu 8.04 (32-bit) and Logitech QuickCam for Notebooks Deluxe, Nvidia Geforce
Go 7300, nvidia-glx-new driver

[Bug 215570] Re: Cannot browse/mount Windows Server 2003 shares

2008-06-25 Thread Bálint Magyar
Crossposting my relevant info from bug #209520:

Updated the gvfs and samba related packages from hardy-proposed [on
24th June 2008]. Trying to reach a Windows Server 2003 share in an
Active Directory domain environment through Nautilus' Connect to
Server... resulted in the following message box after supplying the
login info:

Sorry, couldn't display all the contents of smb: The specified
location is not mounted

Upon reloading the same Nautilus window, it produced the original
Unable to mount message. Both before and after the update, connecting
to a share on the server with smbclient works as intended (using the -U
and -W arguments to specify login info).

I have talked about this to Sebastien Bacher earlier this month, but I
guess it should be made public that I have talked to my supervisor at
work about this and we can provide remote access to a Hardy box in a
Windows Server 2003 domain environment for testing purposes. I would
like to ask the developers to contact me if this will be needed and we
will discuss the details in private.

As of today, browsing Windows 2003 shares works (i.e. it lists the
available shares on the server correctly), actually listing the contents
of the shares and mounting produces the above symptoms.

[Bug 242918] [NEW] Traceproto looks for traceroute in the wrong location

2008-06-25 Thread Gavin Chappell
Public bug reported:

When running traceproto, an error is given reading:

exec: 120: /bin/traceroute: not found

This is because traceroute on a Ubuntu system (this is Hardy with all
current packages from -updates and -proposed) is in /usr/bin/traceroute.
Editing the traceproto shell script by hand fixes this.

[Bug 202208] Re: [Hardy] Playing OpenGL games causes a refresh rate error

2008-06-25 Thread Pramod Dematagoda
I did a clean reinstall of Ubuntu and it seems that the bug is gone, I
guess it was something in the old install that was causing the problem.

I am marking this bug as invalid.

Because I typed in the wrong e-mail address 3 times, it keeps trying to

[Bug 236813] Re: purple-remote doesn't find libpurple instance

2008-06-25 Thread aSmig
Take a look in $HOME/.dbus/session-bus/ to make sure you don't have any
extra session files. You can figure out which one to keep by matching
up the id on the first line of the file with the running process:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ ps -eaf | grep dbus-launc[h]
chin 6678 1 0 Jun19 ?00:00:00 dbus-launch --autolaunch

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ head -1 ~/.dbus/session-bus/*

[Bug 237840] Re: OpenOffice hangs when 'Save as...' or 'Export as pdf' with an already saved document.

2008-06-25 Thread Fuchs
As I already told people in the german ubuntu forums:

OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=none is an easier way to workaround this problem.
You can either set this before running OpenOffice or put it in the soffice
file.

A person there said that this problem only occurs with desktop effects
(read: compiz-fusion) enabled.

Anybody can confirm this?

Hope the workaround helps for the moment.

thanks for the comment but when a bug is set as Triaged and with an
upstream task it means that there's enough info which means no need to
re confirm it everytime you want to subscribe to the bug, that will only
create a lot of bugmail noise, thanks you all.

[Bug 242921] [NEW] patch to show wifi channel

2008-06-25 Thread Upayavira
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: wifi-radar

Attached is a simple patch (to the hardy wifi-radar) that will show an
extra column with the channel number for each wireless network.

This simple tweak allows one to choose the best channel for use - using
this tool I was able to identify that half of the 14 networks in my area
were using channel 11. Switching channel and my wireless became vastly
more reliable - e.g. my VPN stayed connected for hours, rather than
disconnecting every five minutes.

I have sent this patch to the upstream author, but have not had any
reply.

[Bug 242920] [NEW] gEdit has no syntax hightlighting for ASP (.asp files)

2008-06-25 Thread brettalton
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gedit

Try saving this file as index.asp and you will see that gEdit has no
highlighting capabilities for VBScript/ASP:

!--#include file=test/include.asp --
html
head
title%=sitetitle%/title
/head
body
h1%=sitetitle%/h1
/body
/html

For those PHP programmers, think of % as ?php. There should be syntax
highlighting inside those brackets.
