[Bug 163047] Re: firefox: mouse pointer disappears while page is loading
I confirm it happens on a faully updated hardy heron too. I also discovered it's not just releated to firefox itself, but also to panel animations. Try opening firefox from the panel button, and keep the mouse over the icon fading effect: it will disappear as it do with firefox. I didn't tried, but as someone already said it should be related to compiz, xorg, and only when something is loading. I also confirm the problem appeared when i changed the options of the advanced zoom plugin with ccsm (in particular i enabled "hide hardware cursor while zooming" and "zoom even cursor". They're not the exaxt option names, but you got the idea :) ). Disabling them and restarting X fixes it. I hope this problem will be resolved, since in my family there's a man with very poor sight and the zoom plugin is useless without a zoomed cursor. *** This bug is a duplicate of bug 14335 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/14335 Is it entirely correct to mark bug 14335 as a duplicate of the bug directly related to FAT file systems? [Bug 203659] Re: Pinned hardy repository causes update-manger to fail but shows no error message
I was in the same situation for the Intrepid->Jaunty upgrade, with the jaunty repository pinned to priority 50. Arguably the situation improved, since the upgrade did not crash, but it only upgraded a limited number of packages (including the new kernel). Also after upgrade finished and after reboot it still offered upgrade to the new jaunty 9.04, as if upgrade wasn't registered. Since it is sometimes necessary to upgrade selected packages to the next version, and pinning to a low priority is a convenient way to manage this mix, I think this situation is (relatively) frequent and it would be great if it could be handled more gracefully. It could be handled similarly to the third-party repositories, which are automatically disabled on upgrade. There should at least be a warning if /etc/apt/preferences is present, or the option to disable all pinning before starting the upgrade. -- Pinned hardy repository causes update-manger to fail but shows no error message https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/203659 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 217849] Re: Hardy, Intrepid, Jaunty 64 "hiccup" on Sager notebook.
It looks useful. At least to understand better. It looks like the timer interrupt is actually connected to pin 0 of the apic, not pin 2 as the override tells the system. Sadly I messed up with the debug options, so the apic table was not dumped (the right one is apic=debug). But even with what is there, it looks like "cat /proc/interrups" will show IO-APIC as interrupt source. Which means Linux found the right apic pin by guessing. This proves the BIOS is incorrect at that point. What I cannot say is, whether Linux has a chance to detect this automatically. In other cases I saw, this required some knowledge of the chipset and in some cases this was NDA. You have an Intel chipset, maybe there are chances. All in all you should, with that work-around, have no more troubles with that sort of hangs. -- Hardy, Intrepid, Jaunty 64 "hiccup" on Sager notebook. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/217849 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

When closing and reopening a new text document (File - new - text document) the default settings go back to "factory settings". We used F11 "styles and formatting" and modified the default settings for "paragraph - line spacing" from single to 1.5 and changed the page style default margins from 2 to 3 cm. The changes were immediately displayed in the opened document. However, when closing and reopening open office, the changes no longer appeared. I hope this can be fixed! [Bug 390647] [NEW] firefox-3.5 does not give up addon updates procedure
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: firefox-3.5 Firefox 3.5 on Ubuntu Karmic Koala alpha-2 with all recent updates and a copied profile from Jaunty tries to do it's usual addon-updates on first start (3.5 profile initialization). For me the check got stuck after a specific addon "(User Agent Switcher)" - the dialogue did neither fail nor state anything about problems, the spinner kept running (see attached screenshot). [Bug 389555] Re: [PATCH] ext4 filesystem corruption
As these locking issues often are sensitive to timing, it could well be that other changes had some influence. The problem with the stable kernels is that, after the experience with 2.6.27.y which received a huge amount of updates and sometimes caused regressions, we now went back to cherry-pick patches to reported problems for which we can get help in testing. As those patches are upstream and also kept by Ted, I don't think it will help that much if Greg would maintain a 2.6.28.11. But I should make sure we better sync with Ted. -- [PATCH] ext4 filesystem corruption https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/389555 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 381599] Re: kword fails to start
Incredibly weird bug, no doubt on that. But I think we still can assume that it does not appear in 9.04 final (even when upgraded to KO 2.0.0). Anyway let's try to pursue the theory about kbuildsycoca4 not being invoked at all. Those that are still affected by this bug: please run kdebudialog and activate all debugging, logout and back in again, use KDE for some time (maybe install a KDE app etc.) then run grep -r -i 'sycoca' $HOME/.xsession-errors > file that should spit out a file called 'file' which should contain the debug output related to ksycoca. With a bit of luck it might give us a clue as to why the cache doesn't want to detect the kpart desktop file. ** Changed in: koffice2 (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete -- kword fails to start https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/381599 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to koffice2 in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

[Bug 390661] [NEW] hidden files are never shown on Gnome desktop
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus Hidden files are never shown on the desktop. Even when i enable "Show hidden and backup files" in Nautilus > Preferences only regular folders and files are shown there. When i browse the "Desktop" folder in Nautilus directly all hidden files are all shown correctly according to my preferences (can easily be switched by CTRL+H). So the files are there but there is no option to show them on my desktop. Steps to reproduce: 1) create a new hidden file on the desktop 2) press F5 to refresh and it will disapear Expected behaviour: Hidden file is shown according to the "Show hidden and backup files" preferences of Nautilus. Even better would be an additional setting to enable hidden files for desktop separatly without enabling them in Nautilus folder view. This behaviour occurs no matter if it is a hidden file or a hidden folder. Ubuntu version is 9.04 with all updates. ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- hidden files are never shown on Gnome desktop https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/390661 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 390608] Re: trash icon always full
Until now the problem has happened randomly. More exactly, I haven't noticed what have I done to cause it, although I think it has to do with deleting files in removable media, but I cannot be sure. I have tracked the source of the problem to bug #368553. [Bug 388608] Re: Don't run as root
Here are a couple more improvements, from suggestions by the Debian maintainer: 1) Add comment in rsyslog.conf noting that the rules are in /etc/rsyslog.d 2) Don't parse /var/lib/dpkg/status directly, use dpkg-query 3) Rename default.conf to 50-default.conf ** Attachment added: "rsyslog.debdiff" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/28200500/rsyslog.debdiff -- Don't run as root https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/388608 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 366708] Re: Pulseaudio dies after a while, usb audio card
Posted by Markus: "For now i can work around this by disabling suspend-on-idle in /etc/pulse/default.pa: ### Automatically suspend sinks/sources that become idle for too long #load-module module-suspend-on-idle I regard this as what it is: just a workaround." I confirm that this workaround works for me ( x-station usb 1.1/ snd-usb-audio ). Sound output is stable now. I bet the bug is in pulseaudio's suspend - resume code, but it happens with usb-audio devices. My onbord mobo ac97 doesn't have this problem. I still see the underrun messages in verbose mode (txt included). There appears cracks in the sound output time to time. Seems like a buffer under/overrun issue to me as stated in the verbose messages. But I think this has nothing to do with our original problem. May be a bug in the alsa's usb driver or a bug in pulseaudio again. I didn't have these cracks back in ubuntu 8.04. Thanks markus for your help. ** Attachment added: "Updated verbose message txt with Markus Lindberg's patch applied" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/28200436/Pulseaudio-usbbug-verbose-update.txt -- Pulseaudio dies after a while, usb audio card https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/366708 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
