[Bug 935713] Re: Can no longer drop tabs onto tabs area in Chromium

2013-05-13 Thread Ulf Renman
Just a note about workaround nr1: Ctrl+Shift+PgUp/PgDown works great
except for tabs with GoogleDrive-spreadsheets with multiple sheets. In
such docs the selected sheet is switched instead. This behavior is
probably present on more pages which I don't know of.

[Bug 1179015] Re: Ubuntu 13.04 kernel oops with Nvidia 319.17

2013-05-13 Thread Aurelijus Pitrėnas
Just for some more information. In weekend I have tried older kernels with
nvidia-310.44 drivers and bumblebee 3.2.1.
So for now I have tried 3.9.0-030900rc6 (with nvidia-319.17), 3.8.0-19 (with
nvidia-304 and 310), 3.5.0-27 (with with nvidia-304), 3.2.0-40 (with with
nvidia-304), 3.0.0-22 (with nvidia-304) and 2.6.38-15 (it doesn't boot on
ubuntu 13.04). Every scenario failed on my machine with same or very alike
kernel oops and black screen full of text. I can't understand what's going on
differently on my machine then on others, couse fore everyone else nvidia
drivers and bumblebee works fine.

** Description changed:

  Hi,

ways to resolve the diff between Ubuntu and Debian wrt. mpd. As far as I
can see, what's left is the apport hook (which I could just add in the
next upload), making avahi-daemon a Recommends: rather than a Suggests:
(why is that necessary?), and finally the patch to the init script to
'chown $USER:audio $PIDDIR' - that one is wrong, I think, because mpd
should run either as a system service under the mpd user, or run from
the user's session based on ~/.mpdconf and logging to as well as working
with user-accessible paths, preferably under ~/.mpd. This should also
fix pulseaudio issues. There's preliminary support for that in an
mpd.desktop file that gets put into examples currently, and it would
mean disabling mpd on system startup (at least on new installs).

Would that be a solution, or is the "Read mpd user from mpd.conf" patch
meant to accomplish something entirely different?

Florian

problem still present in 13.04, one solution is to add this to

The default for recordfail case is -1 (infinite) it totally unappropriate for a

[Bug 1060945] [NEW] When installing on a Mac Mini or iMac step one should be pairing bluetooth keyboard and mouse/trackpad

2013-05-13 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I hate special casing as much as the next guy but when you detect that you are
installing on a Mac Mini or an iMac, it would be helpful if you paired the
users keyboard and mouse/trackpad.
Most Mac users will be using these devices and they will be paired with OS X so
the installation process has no keyboard nor a pointer to complete the
process.. this needless to say presents a problem as these devices are needed
to complete vital steps such as entering the users name.

The current alternative is hoping that such users have a spare keyboard
and mouse lying around.

[Bug 994301] Re: usb headphones not working

2013-05-13 Thread Davit Yeghiazaryan
I had similar issue with Plantronics usb headset on Ubuntu 12.04.2. After
reinstalling half of my system I came accros a slider in alsa mixer which did
the thing.
Here is what I did. After opening alsa mixer, pressed F6, selected Plantronics
.Audio 622 USB. It showed two sliders: one for the Speaker and one for the Mic.
And this is what one would expect becasuse there is just one microphone and the
speakers on the headset.
But after pressing F5 (which stands for showing all controls, and is barely
visible in between of other text), another slider appears. This one also says
Mic, but it has "Capture" on top of it. On my system this slider was on zero.
After sliding it to maximum, I was able to normally controll the input level
for the microphone from sound settings.

[Bug 1179408] [NEW] Global menu and wx python : endless error

2013-05-13 Thread gbonline
Public bug reported:

Hi, i'm working with 2 distro of ubuntu : 12.04 lts and 13.04 with python
(2.7.x) and wxpython on Unity, and both have the same error.
In my app the Wx Forms run well, but if the app have a menu when I close the
app Form i get the error:

(python:25025): LIBDBUSMENU-GLIB-WARNING **: Trying to remove a child
that doesn't believe we're it's parent.

and looking for it on google i've found that if i remove the ubuntu global
menu the error goes away.
Ok well done: sudo apt-get remove appmenu.
Restart the app and
one new error! when i use the app menu i get in terminal

python: undefined symbol: menu_proxy_module_load
(python:24841): Gtk-WARNING **: Failed to load type module: (null)

And now what can i do?

I've made a demo app that have this error, try it:

[Bug 882779] Re: WLAN card cannot be activated, it is hard-rfkill-ed and fn-f2 does not work

2013-05-13 Thread Haitao Zhang
@Jeff, since WLAN is been blocked by hardware PIN, there is no easy way to
turn it on under Linux in a software way.
the best solution is to see if Quanta willing to release a Thinkpad ACPI spec
including how to do it from WMI interface like Windows app, then we can try to
implement a thinkpad_wmi driver similar to hp_wmi(?) to control it.
or there is another thing we can try is to check whether Quanta provide some
hardware options for turn on/off accessories like WLAN in their latest BIOS.
the last thing to try is to 'Load Defaults' in BIOS, some ODM BIOS will do a
sane way to setup for most of the hardware with it's default configuration,
then maybe accessories like WLAN and BT may turned on in this mode.

I also confirm the issue with 13.04 raring. As with #8, changing only
xfwm4:double_click_time = 400 did not work. I added the other two
configs and it worked. I then removed xfwm4:dbl_click_time and the fix
continued to work.

So, I'd say don't bother adding the xfwm4->dbl_click_time.

Thanks to everyone for the good info.

I think these settings should be the default.

[Bug 1077395] Re: LibreOffice writer refuses to show any dialog

2013-05-13 Thread Antonello Lobianco
Exactly the same problem here, on ubuntu 12.10 (x64 platform),
libreoffice Version 3.6.2.2 (Build ID: 360m1(Build:2))

I know this is related somehow with libgtk, but there are too many bug
reports relating to it and I am little lost. Is there a current
workaround for it?

I think the importance of this bug should be changed to "major" because,
at least for those who are involved, this seriously limits the usability
of the software, unless the root of this bug could be tracked down to an
existing bug report hence this bug repord should be marked as
duplicated.

[Bug 1179431] [NEW] Function keys - Wireless function key can't turn the wireless back on.

2013-05-13 Thread Po-Hsu Lin
Public bug reported:

CID: 201206-11376 Asus X55A

The wireless key on this system is quite unstable, and not working as
expected.

Sometimes it work, but sometimes it does not, and sometimes it will take a long
time to bring the wireless back.
Along with bug #1178545, I think it will be difficult for users to get wireless
work.

Running update can't solve this problem.

Output with rfkill list:

1. After boot, before clicking "Enable Wireless" (no wireless connection)
0: phy0: Wireless LAN
Soft blocked: yes
Hard blocked: no
1: asus-wlan: Wireless LAN
Soft blocked: no
Hard blocked: no

2. After clicking "Enable Wireless" (wireless connection established)
0: phy0: Wireless LAN
Soft blocked: no
Hard blocked: no
1: asus-wlan: Wireless LAN

3. Press the wireless key, wireless disabled (no wireless connection)
0: phy0: Wireless LAN
Soft blocked: yes
Hard blocked: no
1: asus-wlan: Wireless LAN
Soft blocked: yes
Hard blocked: no

4.Press the wireless key, wireless still disabled, "Enable Wireless" is not
available.
ubuntu@201206-11376:~$ rfkill list
0: phy0: Wireless LAN
Soft blocked: no
Hard blocked: yes
1: asus-wlan: Wireless LAN
Soft blocked: no
Hard blocked: no

5.Press the wireless key again, result same as 4
0: phy0: Wireless LAN
Soft blocked: yes
Hard blocked: yes
1: asus-wlan: Wireless LAN
Soft blocked: yes
Hard blocked: no

After that, pressing it multiple times still can't bring wireless back.

+ * Test case:
+ - log into an account using a non english locale and unity
+ - go to system settings, online accounts

+ Does the banner on the top of the screen (String « Please authorize

+
+ *Impact:
+ it's only a include change, very limited

[Bug 1112652] Re: [raring] no ethernet with "auto" default power option with 82579LM

2013-05-13 Thread Michael Morgen
A fix for this bug could be setting "Wake On Lan" to "AC and Battery" in
the BIOS. It works for my Lenovo T430 with 13.04/64bit, 3.8.0-19 kernel
and Intel 82579LM nic.

[Bug 963736] Re: thunderbird freezes at random : must be killed and reload

2013-05-13 Thread Petr Sedlacek
FWIW, I haven't seen one of these freezes since I switched gtk2 theme
from oxygen-gtk to Oxygen-Molecule-Flat. Normally I would experience at
least one freeze every two days (usually more often).

I have now patched gtk2-engines-oxygen 1.3.3 with the changes mentioned
in the Emacs bug report:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/emacs23/+bug/1142213 - the
changes don't seem to be relevant to the issue we are experiencing here
but let's see if the newest version of gtk2-engines-oxygen helps.

[Bug 1178933] Re: Time drifting when set to update Automatically from Internet

@Sebastien, two points:
Firstly ntp is not installed so I am not sure how it can be a bug in ntp
Secondly it does re-sync when I connect, but since the machine is on
continuously the time drifts out over a period of days.

[Bug 704123] Re: NM asks non-administrative user for the PIN even though it's in the system-connections file

2013-05-13 Thread Ganton
This bug still exists in Kubuntu 13.04, at least. If I boot the computer
with the modem plugged in -> I can connect to internet (because the
computer remembers the PIN that I gave it). However, if I plug off the
modem and I plug it in again -> the computers asks for the PIN... like
if it didn't know it!

[Bug 1178373] Re: Restart spawns a password box

2013-05-13 Thread Iain Lane
Hi,

This is because lightdm has been ported to logind and away from
ConsoleKit for session management.

xfce4-session should follow suit and use logind too. I see that in
4.10.1 it's part of the way there - if I upgrade to this then restart
works again. To get suspend working I've additionally patched to use
logind for suspend too. The same code should be introduced for hibernate
as well - my patch is incomplete and definitely should go upstream.

UPower wants to remove these APIs (suspend/hibernate).
  http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/devkit-devel/2013-January/001339.html

I'll leave finishing and uploading to the Xubuntu developers.

Cheers!
