[Bug 1232273] Re: Updates will not complete if the system-image service times out
I think this is due to the service side. However, new system-cli daemon is just out (startinf from image 73). So there should be no more issue of "system-cli timed out, I need to restart from scratch (and ending up in a bad state)". There will be new bugs, but this one should be fixed :) ** Changed in: ubuntu-system-settings (Ubuntu) Status: New => Fix Committed ** Changed in: ubuntu-system-settings (Ubuntu) Status: Fix Committed => Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1232273 Title: Updates will not complete if the system-image service times out To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-system-settings/+bug/1232273/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1073433] Re: Ext4 corruption associated with shutdown of Ubuntu 12.10
This still happens in 13.10 (saucy). This time I installed the Beta-2 of Lubuntu (thus using an lxsession). Reboot or shutdown fails everytime. It hangs for around ten seconds, then it reboots and fsck shows "deleted orphaned inode". Only helps to uninstall network-manager-*, nm-*, modemmanager, ureadahead. How come this hasn't been fixed yet? It is reproduceable all the time for me. (My router is fine and network also. [Bug 1213769] Re: [ASUS P8Z68-V PRO, Realtek ALC892, Green Line Out, Rear] Popping sound or crackle every few seconds while playing audio
Hi Omer, The link Raymond posted in comment #12 was from someone having the same problem as you. He also had a home-built computer, and I assume you do too. Anyway, for this person it turned out to be a hardware problem: the HDA front panel connector was not correctly connected to the motherboard. We'd like to see if the same applies to you, so please open your computer up, try disconnecting the HDA front panel cable. Now start your computer - the problem should disappear (but the front panel audio won't work either, naturally). Try connecting it back again and double check that you connect it correctly. [Bug 1163720] Re: Brightness control broken on XPS13 with 3.8.0-16 and 3.8.0-22
Hi Dinki (curious-mitchell) I think the point is that this laptop IS supplied AND certified for Ubuntu single boot and as so is supplied in BIOS (they say Legacy) mode. The LCD back-light issue appeared as a regression for the ones who stayed in BIOS mode, but also appeared for those who switched to UEFI in the aim of double boot with win8. I can't say which ones was the first to meet the problem. **Maybe** using an elder Win compatible with BIOS **could** be a workaround. The Intel features furbished with UEFI are not supported in Linux, and Mr Linus himself explained why he thinks EFI "sucks" http://kerneltrap.org/node/6884 http://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2013/02/linus-torvalds-i-will-not-change-linux-to-deep-throat-microsoft/ https://plus.google.com/+LinusTorvalds/posts/QLe3tSmtSM4 Maybe this all could help you understanding why we have this "such an ongoing issue" More: searching about the issue, I found here on launchpad that there are 2 different machines about which the issue is reported: the Dell l322x and the former l321x, both called xps13, what maybe has added confusion. For me, I bought this l322x certified with Ubuntu because I was fed up with old laptops still having various issues with some piece of hardware in Linux, and at the same time I decided to forgive Windows. Although I am quite newby in Linux and forgiving Windows is another issue for me, I ***decided*** this is my price for the price. Whatever I must admit that even once this huge step is walked, small issues remain in my l322x, such as hibernation/thaw hanging sometimes, always-on blue-tooth on reboot, a small keyboard back-light miss-behaviour and a touch-pad that I can't set as I want, but maybe this is because I decided to jump into Raring (for which I knew the laptop **was not certified** although it was claimed that all sputnik stuff was embedded) at the same time I reinstalled the OS to remove the bunch of MS-DOS partitions upon which the supplied 12.04 was supplied (now a single / and swap are enough, and even this last is for hibernation only). To end in an honest remark, I never had real issues while installing Services Pack onto either clients and servers machines from WinNT4 to Win7, and I must admit that the rhythm and depth of changes in Ubuntu remains frightening to me. [Bug 1229974] Re: Repeated icons in music scope
The music scope is only returning "song" results rather than "album" ones currently. It also limits itself to 20 results at a time until the next version is pushed out (see bug 1227088 for details). Taking that into account: 1. have you verified that there is only a single copy of that song on the device? 2. Do you see any other results by expanding the category, or performing searches? 3. Does the problem go away if you rebuild the media scanner database? The following commands should do the trick? stop mediascanner mv ~/.cache/mediascanner mediascanner-old-index start mediascanner The scope doesn't do much other than just passing the results through to the media scanner, so the problem is most likely on that side. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1229974 Title: Repeated icons in music scope To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity-scope-mediascanner/+bug/1229974/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1233550] [NEW] With MIR enabled, OSK remains hidden
Public bug reported: 20130929 PRE-REQUISITE: Enable MIR on the device: 1. adb shell touch /home/phablet/.display-mir 2. adb reboot TEST CASE: 1. Load messaging app and create a new message with the OSK in portrait mode 2. Tap in the message box to display the keyboard 3. Swipe down the OSK to hide it 4. Repeat steps 3 and 4 approx 4 or 5 times EXPECTED RESULT: Each time there is a tap in the message box the OSK should be displayed again. Each time the user swipes down, the OSK should be hidden. ACTUAL RESULT: For the first 3 times the OSK is displayed and hidden correctly. After the OSK has been hidden approximately 4 times it does not re-appear and the user cannot enter any text. Once this occurs it is not possible to use the OSK in any other app!! This defect only occurs when MIR is enabled. [Bug 1163720] Re: Brightness control broken on XPS13 with 3.8.0-16 and 3.8.0-22
@dinky : officially, dell only support 12.04 LTS at the moment. Stick with it if you want a better experience and don't want to live dangerously ;-) Windows also have a bunch of bugs, you need to acknowledge that, but you don't know about them because it is not open. With ubuntu (more generally, linux), I have these little hardware minor issues, but I frequently have a uptime of more than 15 days. I never achieve that with windows. Using Linux need an adaptation. You leave a rather policed world to step into the world of Freedom. You won't regret it, I tell you, but this needs a bit of adaptation I guess. Note that there is a workaround to this. Did you find it ? With Linux, there's always a workaround ;-) @Bib, for your other issues, I don't have them on my L322x.
