[Bug 1579712] Re: Refresh hangs indefinitely, appstreamcli using 100% CPU

2016-05-20 Thread fubuntu
It took quite some time for me to find this solution. When the average
user starts googling this, they are going to find all sorts of things
which do not apply, for example:

http://itsfoss.com/fix-update-errors-ubuntu-1404/
https://askubuntu.com/questions/615203/software-updates-stuck-downloading-after-15-04-upgrade

What a nightmare! This demonstrates why the system update utility needs
to include a twitter-type client to inform the user of emerging issues
related to broken update functionality. How else will the average user
cope with a new issue like this, when there are so many possible causes
for the same type of problem?

Yes I know, it poses the question of who should have the authority to
broadcast alerts. Perhaps a majority vote by a jury of lead developers
or team managers who could activate the feature by signing a proposed
broadcast message with their PGP key. Moderators of the forum or the
bug tracker would then submit proposals for broadcast messages to a
mailing list that goes to the jury. This would eliminate the
possibility of using the broadcast system for spam.

In any case, the manual fix in the description is not sufficiently clear: many
people who are capable of typing terminal commands will not know to replace
'amd64' with 'i386' or whatever is appropriate. A script which automates this
might be a better solution.

@neil.mayhew

> I'm not sure what happens if someone is using Synaptic or Gnome
Software. I assume it would be necessary to use System Monitor to kill
off appstreamcli.

@olliniem

> forever inactive window with no possibility to interfere

Best quick recovery method is to launch 'top' in terminal & kill that
process ID. It does affect Software Center, Software Updater, adding
PPA's, et cetera.

[Bug 1577137] Re: sane service masked and cannot be unmasked

2016-05-20 Thread Hanky
I have the same problem, but at least found a workaround.

The man-page for saned
(http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/xenial/man8/saned.8.html) shows a
solution using systemd. Two config-files are needed in
/etc/systemd/system, saned.socket and saned@.service.

With those files saned seem to work, even though it is masked. scanimage
-L shows the network scanners, and xsane and other programmes can access
those scanners without problems.

@Pascal, thanks for the log, I don't see error about icons there. It's a
bit difficult to debug without having a config to trigger the issue ...
could you try also with the Adwaita icon theme to see if it might be an

[Bug 1583743] Re: wish: package /lib/systemd-cron/mail_on_failure separately

2016-05-20 Thread Alexandre Detiste
Hi,

I guess I'm the only one here reading your request, this should be better
discussed at
pkg-systemd-maintain...@lists.alioth.debian.org where the actual development
for systemd in Debian/Ubuntu happens.

If there weren't the Python depedency, systemd maintainers would maybe accept
to stuff
this script into Debian's systemd package (in debian/scripts/ in the git tree,
but it would then be installed in /lib/systemd/ in the resulting package)
so that it's always available for all jobs.

I don't see in anyway upstream accepting this kind of "legacy cruft" in
their tree.

-

Now you can just rip ou this single program for your convenienc without
using the whole systemd-cron package.

https://github.com/systemd-cron/systemd-
cron/blob/master/src/bin/mail_on_failure.py

It's pretty much "done", there's well one unicode bug related to it,
but I can't reproduce it.

https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=792777

I was also toying around with a C rewrite, but this is nowhere near
ready:

cron-c/blob/master/mail_on_failure.c

I think module does.n see H.245/Q931 informations in connection.
If We try to use SIP with module nf_conntrack_sip, SIP work fine.

Our architecture - Client DNAT/SNAT Router(ubuntu)<>VoIP Soft Switch.

We have 3 Servers with DNAT/SNAT translation and 3 routing tables on
ubuntu router server for each other.

[Bug 1583925] [NEW] php5-svn seg fault when repos_url is https

2016-05-20 Thread Anders Sandblad
Public bug reported:

Tested on Ubuntu 14.04 with php5-svn (1.0.2-2).
When doing a query to a remote repos with svn_ls or svn_cat (those are the only
functions I've tested) over https the script seg faults at the end of executing
the script, not during.

Test script:

https://svn.host.se/svn/repos/trunk/";));
//print_r(svn_ls("https://svn.host.se/svn/repos/";));
$contents =
svn_cat("https://svn.host.se/svn/repos/trunk/sw/2061.MSW/applications/il.c";);
?>

All of those make the script output
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
at the end of executing the script.
Running with http instead of https works fine.

[Bug 1583469] Re: Strange behavior after using desktop mode

2016-05-20 Thread Michał Sawicz
I saw that once, too. It's very unlikely unity8 has to do anything with
that, more like the driver gets in a bad state when it suspends with an
external screen or so. It's as if it has lost synchronization or
something.

Adding Mir as the component closer to the driver/hardware.

[Bug 1580792] Re: Unity8 on Intel Atoms performs poorly

2016-05-20 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Adding INTEL_DEBUG=perf to /etc/environment has seemingly explained the
problems. Atoms are falling back to software rendering(!), which is
theoretically easy to avoid. Here's a summary of what I get in
unity8.log on an Atom N270:

PROBLEM:
old_intel_miptree_blit: Can't use hardware blitter from
MESA_FORMAT_B8G8R8A8_UNORM to MESA_FORMAT_A_UNORM8, falling back.
intelCopyTexSubImage - fallback to swrast
CAUSE: Unknown

PROBLEM:
i915_program_error: Exceeded max ALU instructions (76 out of 64)
ENTER FALLBACK 1: Program
CAUSE: GLSL shaders are approximately 18% larger than the hardware supports.

PROBLEM:
ENTER FALLBACK 1: Program
LEAVE FALLBACK Program
[PERFORMANCE]: Last frame took 2643 ms to render.
CAUSE: Same as previous issue. Reused a program that ran in software.

Interestingly mir_demo_client_eglplasma has the same issues (bug
1583532) but it sounds like that's easily fixable.

on 2016-04-12. There is already 8.1.0 package that contains this fix
according to https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/neutron.

Can you test the issue with the new version of the package?

[Bug 1577002] Re: Running app from QtCreator wipes associated accounts

2016-05-20 Thread Alberto Mardegan
The behaviour is correct: accounts are configuration data, and should be
removed as described in bug 1358294. (Rodney, I can see that you disagree, but
until you convince design that this is wrong, this is going to stay as it is
now)
See also bug 1499971 and 1358294.

Note that the accounts we are talking about here are only those whose
plugin was shipped by the application itself.

The solution for this bug is described in comment #3.

[Bug 1574745] Re: Missing symlinks to match locales

2016-05-20 Thread Mattia Rizzolo
Except that I wonder how can you have myspell-es 1.11-11, that's the version in
wily.
For that one imho a Conflicts: is the best solution (so, commit d3eac80). I
haven't actually checked if they are different, but I'm not going to take that
package over, so it's either a conflict, or dropping the package.

for hunspell-lt the interesting bug is not
https://bugs.debian.org/824796 bug https://bugs.debian.org/824401 (the
former is a follow up on the other one, as you can see). I don't think
this actually affect xenial, as hunspell-lt has a conflicts on myspell-
lt, but separately they can be installed without troubles, I'll let you
double check, but I think there is nothing that should be done. Worst
case, you can cherry-pick fd810ac, maybe.

For hunspell-kmr I'm still unsure on the path, but I'm working on it.

[Bug 1548425] Re: update-manager crashed with AttributeError in check_hovering(): 'tuple' object has no attribute 'get_tags'

2016-05-20 Thread Marius Gedminas
The crash is in the following code:

def check_hovering(self, x, y):
"""Check if the mouse is above a tagged link and if yes show
   a hand cursor"""
_hovering = False
# get the iter at the mouse position
iter = self.get_iter_at_location(x, y)

# set _hovering if the iter has the tag "url"
tags = iter.get_tags()

The error is "AttributeError: '_ResultTuple' object has no attribute
'get_tags'".

self is an instance of a subclass of Gtk.TextView, which has a
`get_iter_at_location()` method that returns a tuple (bool, iterator):
http://lazka.github.io/pgi-
docs/#Gtk-3.0/classes/TextView.html#Gtk.TextView.get_iter_at_location

(I'm guessing PyGTK used to return just the iterator (or None), but with the
migration to PyGObject + gobject-introspection + GTK+ 3.x this changed.)

Suggested fix: iter = self.get_iter_at_location(x, y)

This buggy code pattern is also repeated in button_press_event.

[Bug 1578144] Re: cacti and cacti-spine are not compatible with MySQL 5.7 default sql_mode

2016-05-20 Thread Paul Gevers
I uploaded fixed packages for cacti in yakkety and xenial. They are now
in the process.

Unfortunately, I don't have upload rights for cacti-spine, so somebody
needs to sponsor those for me, once I created a yakkety package
(hopefully today).

[Bug 1583960] [NEW] CVE-2016-4480

2016-05-20 Thread Steve Beattie
*** This bug is a security vulnerability ***

Public security bug reported:

The guest_walk_tables function in arch/x86/mm/guest_walk.c in Xen 4.6.x
and earlier does not properly handle the Page Size (PS) page table entry
bit at the L4 and L3 page table levels, which might allow local guest OS
users to gain privileges via a crafted mapping of memory.

[Bug 1577137] Re: sane service masked and cannot be unmasked

2016-05-20 Thread jurgen
Hanky, I just tried your solution but without any luck. So I just made
those two file and saved them in the path... do I need to do something
with permissions?

Bother, this is a very annoying bug as I use the scanner a lot.

[Bug 1571574] Re: 3G (WWAN) icon missing in network-manager-applet

2016-05-20 Thread Pascal Morin
@Sebastien

The last known working network-manger-applet/gnome version for Xenial is
1.0.10-1ubuntu1   https://bugs.launchpad.net/somerville/ford-
constantine/+bug/1571479/comments/6

it used to work fine on Xenial daily builds built before 3/29.

It looks like to be a regression.

[Bug 1548425] Re: update-manager crashed with AttributeError in check_hovering(): 'tuple' object has no attribute 'get_tags'

2016-05-20 Thread Marius Gedminas
Steps to reproduce:

1. Open terminal
2. Run 'update-manager'
3. Wait for it to finish checking for updates

This bug results in the following error being printed to the terminal,
possibly several times:

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/UpdateManager/ChangelogViewer.py",
line 248, in visibility_notify_event
self.check_hovering(bx, by)
  File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/UpdateManager/ChangelogViewer.py",
line 259, in check_hovering
tags = iter.get_tags()
AttributeError: '_ResultTuple' object has no attribute 'get_tags'

BTW the update-manager window does not disappear and continues to be
functional, despite this error.
