Re: [Bug 1565106] Re: Wifi works on W10 but not on Ub 16.04 nor 14.04
Hi Christopher Are you sure? Because as far as I understood, 16.04 is a LTS and shoud last 5 years, actually I'm running 17.04 which is a STS (9 months), meaning that myself and others will have to install 18.04. I say others because yesterday I wanted to install 16.04 on a friend's PC (an Asus), but same Pb as on the HP, no wifi, I had then to install 17.04, but he/I will have to install 18.04 as well, is it a normal procedure not to reverse the bug fix to the LTS till this version is supported ? Right. Missing video hardware acceleration (and missing audio, ACPI) was due to the kernel extras package not installed. [Bug 1671360] Re: System doesn't boot properly on Gigabyte AM4 motherboards (AMD Ryzen)
If pinctrl causes issues with certain hardware, but is required for certain other hardware, and if it isn't possible to automatically determine which is which, then it would make sense to make it controllable through a boot flag (like acpi=off). While having to specify a boot flag is still less than ideal, it is far preferable to having installing a different distro or build a custom kernel. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1671360 Title: System doesn't boot properly on Gigabyte AM4 motherboards (AMD Ryzen) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1671360/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1652525] Re: DNS leak in ubuntu 16.10
So, as promised, the logs. The only thing I needed to replicate the issue was to add again a DNS server on the network manager configuration. I found out that removing it from there + using UFW was doing the trick (meaning the test didn't crash when tried to resolve using the alternative DNS server and the possible rogue requests are stopped). For this I'm using openvpn on the CLI. The issue was more or less the same for the openvpn-nm applet but I wasn't able to find a way to get it to work there. For connecting I use ovpn files with these options: client dev tun proto udp remote us-ga.gw.ivpn.net 2049 auth-user-pass /home/tux/pass.txt resolv-retry infinite nobind persist-tun persist-key persist-remote-ip cipher AES-256-CBC tls-cipher TLS-DHE-RSA-WITH-AES-256-CBC-SHA:TLS-DHE-DSS-WITH-AES-256-CBC-SHA:TLS-RSA-WITH-AES-256-CBC-SHA ns-cert-type server verify-x509-name us-ga name-prefix key-direction 1 comp-lzo verb 3 ;ca ca.crt -BEGIN CERTIFICATE- (...) -BEGIN OpenVPN Static key V1- (...) -END OpenVPN Static key V1- up /etc/openvpn/update-resolv-conf down /etc/openvpn/update-resolv-conf script-security 2 ** Attachment added: "logs mentioned in the comment" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openvpn/+bug/1652525/+attachment/4873016/+files/logs -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1652525 Title: DNS leak in ubuntu 16.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openvpn/+bug/1652525/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1686254] Re: OpenVPN auto-connect options greyed out or missing for no reason
Hi, do you mean on the "Network connections" menu where you select the network connection to use? If it's correctly listed under "VPN" that you won't have the "automatically connect to this network at startup", you need to designate a real network interface that will be brought up on boot (like wired) and then select on that interface options to automatically connect to the VPN when brought up. The VPN is creating a virtual interface (tun0 usually) but it needs first that an actual interface is up and able to send/receive the packets for the TLS handshake (and the rest of the packets later too, actually), so it doesn't look like a bug to me ? Are you able to check those two options on any other network connection? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1686254 Title: OpenVPN auto-connect options greyed out or missing for no reason To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/1686254/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1584740] Re: Libreoffice impress hanging and high cpu on slide operations
I'm using 17.04 on a new Dell 7720 laptop (64G Ram, 8 Cores, M1200 Nvidia GPU, Enterprise grade SSD's, 17" monitor). This is also happening to me. Switching to look at my presentation with a slide show does not work. It just hangs. Sometimes if I press random buttons and mouse clicks, I'll suddenly find myself partway through the slide show, but I can't advance a slide or go back. Escape gets me out of the presentation mode after minute or two. I have not been able to view a single presentation in slideshow mode yet. I tried giving libreoffice more memory for image caching, but that didn't seem to do anything. Am I to understand the workaround is to remove libreoffice-gtk3 and install libreoffice-gtk? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1584740 Title: Libreoffice impress hanging and high cpu on slide operations To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/1584740/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1686329] Re: System freezes randomly after upgrading to ubuntu 17.04
Hope the following description belongs to this bug, couldn't easily find something more similar: After a fresh install of 17.04 (with standard packages) on my Dell Latitude E7240 some 10 days ago, my system seems to show similar phenomena, however, I could recognise that the final freeze is a consequence of a staged process happening beforehand: 1. E.g. (T)hunderbird or (F)irefox is getting what is (afaik) called a Zombie process, however, instead of "Z", T/F are marked with "D" (for disk) in top, running at 100% and not killable via top or kill -9/-15. 2. Machine load is slowly going upwards (within 4-5 min or so) until I can't switch windows or desktops anymore, neither can I switch to the text console to initiate an ordinary "shutdown (-R) now". 3. I have to perform a hard ACPI reset per button. This happened already 4 times since I have installed 17.04. According to what I found on the web, https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/5642/what-if-kill-9-does-not-work it seems to be a peripheral/driver/filesystem/interrupt related problem. However, this exceeds my knowledge. [Bug 1584407] [NEW] ACPI Error: [\_SB_.PCI0.XHC_.RHUB.HS11] Namespace lookup failure, AE_NOT_FOUND (20150930/dswload-210)
You have been subscribed to a public bug: [ 0.016192] ACPI Error: [\_SB_.PCI0.XHC_.RHUB.HS11] Namespace lookup failure, AE_NOT_FOUND (20150930/dswload-210) [ 0.016195] ACPI Exception: AE_NOT_FOUND, During name lookup/catalog (20150930/psobject-227) [ 0.016222] ACPI Exception: AE_NOT_FOUND, (SSDT:xh_rvp08) while loading table (20150930/tbxfload-193) [ 0.021348] ACPI Error: 1 table load failures, 7 successful (20150930/tbxfload-214) I have noticed this ACPI error persisting in my syslog and dmesg. Based on what I have learnt from ACPI, acpitool -w and lspci, I think the error is related to Namespaces provided in the DDST on \_SB_.PCI0.XHC_.RHUB.HS11, which I think concerns the Root → System bus tree → PCI bus → USB controller: Intel Corporation Sunrise Point-H USB 3.0 xHCI Controller (rev 31) in my system. [Bug 1683760] Re: ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad inconsistently detected (Lenovo Y700 15ISK)
I do not believe I owned this laptop far enough back to have installed 15.10. I believe the first installation I put on it was 16.04. Additionally, I tried the kernel boot param of "i8042.kbdreset=1". When I booted up the next time I saw the following output from xinput: $ xinput ⎡ Virtual core pointer id=2[master pointer (3)] ⎜ ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointerid=4[slave pointer (2)] ⎜ ↳ PS/2 Elantech Touchpadid=14 [slave pointer (2)] ⎣ Virtual core keyboard id=3[master keyboard (2)] ↳ Virtual core XTEST keyboard id=5[slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Power Button id=6[slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Video Bus id=7[slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Power Button id=8[slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Sleep Button id=9[slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Yubico Yubikey 4 OTP+U2F+CCID id=10 [slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Lenovo EasyCamera id=11 [slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Ideapad extra buttons id=12 [slave keyboard (3)] ↳ AT Translated Set 2 keyboard id=13 [slave keyboard (3)] But almost as soon as I started to move the pointer around the touchpad locked up (pointer stopped responding) for about 5-10 seconds and then started working again, but now the output of xinput looked like: $ xinput ⎡ Virtual core pointer id=2[master pointer (3)] ⎜ ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointerid=4[slave pointer (2)] ⎜ ↳ PS/2 Logitech Wheel Mouse id=14 [slave pointer (2)] ⎣ Virtual core keyboard id=3[master keyboard (2)] ↳ Virtual core XTEST keyboard id=5[slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Power Button id=6[slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Video Bus id=7[slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Power Button id=8[slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Sleep Button id=9[slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Yubico Yubikey 4 OTP+U2F+CCID id=10 [slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Lenovo EasyCamera id=11 [slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Ideapad extra buttons id=12 [slave keyboard (3)] ↳ AT Translated Set 2 keyboard id=13 [slave keyboard (3)] Checking out dmesg, I saw: [ 33.327457] psmouse serio1: Touchpad at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost synchronization, throwing 2 bytes away.
