[Bug 36812]

2018-06-08 Thread Ran Benita
Thanks Andreas, I had missed this in the previous discussion.

First, I must say it's a very clever hack :)

I have not looked at it deeply yet, but I have some initial questions:

- Can you describe a bit how you imagine the changes to xkeyboard-config
would look with this approach?

- Do you think this can be done in a backwards compatible way? As far as
xkbcommon is concerned, I am only interested in this scenario: old
library (unaware of the new LockMods options) & new keymap (in textual
form, modified with the new flags).

X has more compatibility concerns,
xkbcomp/client/server/libxkbfile/protocol/Xlib/etc, but allow me to
ignore that for now.

BTW: xkbcommon already supports noLock/noUnlock in LockMods (unlike
xkbcomp), based on your work[1]. So I hope the approach does not rely on
these not already working :)

[Bug 1766857] Re: [Hyper-V] KVP daemon fails to start

2018-06-08 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Since they might be related, lets focus on the second issue first, which
is cause by the missing files.

I'll set up a test system to try and reproduce.

It seems like this is a regression, but it would be good to confirm.
Can you test these two kernels?

[Bug 1768214] Re: error on ubuntu install

2018-06-08 Thread Phillip Susi
Your disk is currently partitioned to boot in bios mode, but you booted
the installer in EFI mode. A warning message prompted you that this
could be a problem and recommended performing a bios mode install
instead, but you chose not to. You either need to perform the bios mode
install, or partition the disk using GPT and set up an EFI system
partition to install in EFI mode. This will be done for you if you
choose the "use entire disk" guided install option.

[Bug 1775486] Re: Bionic boot kernel oopses on Power

2018-06-08 Thread Jeff Lane
Hi Joseph,

I couldn't exactly reproduce this as it happens during deployment. BUT
the closest I could get was deploying 16.04.4 (4.13) and then installing
4.17 once I was up and running. So I did that, and I am able to reboot
the system into 4.17:

ubuntu@fesenkov:~$ uname -a
Linux fesenkov 4.17.0-041700-generic #201806041953 SMP Mon Jun 4 20:33:53 UTC
2018 ppc64le ppc64le ppc64le GNU/Linux
ubuntu@fesenkov:~$

Next I installed linux-image-generic from Cosmic which got me a
combination of 16.04.4 with 4.15 (4.15.0-22) and that is not bootable
due to the OOPses that lead me to this bug.

So this is the matrix of what's been tested:

16.04.4 - 4.13 - Success
16.04.4 - 4.15 - Fail
16.04.4 - 4.17 - Success

So 16.04.5 and 18.04(.1) are broken on this system.

Sorry for the late reply.

Can you try 18.04? Without any "acpi_osi=" parameter of course...

Also, please ask the vendor which device should control the brightness?
I can see the PEGP's _BCM method reference to GFX0's _BCM, maybe it can
only be called on GFX0 directly?

We are unable to get http responses from qemu guest machine until
interface inside qemu guest machine is in promiscuous mode.

Our configuration is following:

 |   Host server|

 | /eth1.10(IP1)|
LAN2-|-eth1-eth1.11(IP2)|
 | \eth1.12(IP3)|
 |  |
LAN1-|-eth0(IP4)   |
 |  /   |
 |  iptables[nat]   |
 |/
 ||  | Guest system |
 |  tap0-|-eth0(guestIP)|

Host server is connected to LAN1 with eth0 and to LAN2 with eth1. eth0
has IP4 assigned. eth1 is connected to the switch in trunk mode that has
vlans 10, 11 and 12 allows. Thus in Host systems we have eth1.10,
eth1.11 and eth1.12 interfaces with IP1, IP2 and IP3 respectfully.

Inside Host systems we start Guest system using following command:

> qemu-system-x86_64 -m 3G -nographic -monitor stdio -serial none
-kernel /vmlinuz -initrd /webiface.gz -hda /data/data.img -net
nic,model=virtio,macaddr=fe:32:31:30:29:00 -net
tap,ifname=tap0,script=no,downscript=no

tap interface was created with commands:
> ip tuntap add dev tap0 mode tap user user
>
> ip addr add 172.31.31.253/30 brd + dev tap0
> ip link set dev tap0 up

Routing for packets comming from LAN1 or LAN2 to guest system is identical and
is done by iptables DNAT target:

> iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -d  -p tcp --dport 8580 -j DNAT
> --to-destination :80
...
> iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -d  -p tcp --dport 8580 -j DNAT
> --to-destination :80

Now the problem is that requests for @http://:8580/index.html@
stall, until we put eth0 on Guest system in promiscuous mode. Note this
concerns only packets coming through eth0 on Host system. Requests for
@http://:8580/index.html@ work as the should!

It is really strange how promiscuous mode of the interface on guest
system affects the way it receives packets. So we did further debuging
with tcpdump.

For interesting (broken) case when packets arrive through eth0 of Host
system, using tcpdump, we found that syn requests are coming out at tap0
interface:

> 12:40:11.049007 c2:30:61:72:8d:14 > fe:32:31:30:29:00, ethertype IPv4
(0x0800), length 74: .45661 > .80: Flags [S], seq
1998302974, win 29200, options [mss 1352,sackOK,TS val 3509464 ecr
0,nop,wscale 7], length 0

but no packet arrives on guest's eth0 interface! We confirmed that with
tcpdump running with promiscuous mode disabled. So packets gone out from
tap0 but never archived eth0 of the Guest system! Of course, once we run
tcpdump without -p, guest interface will run in promiscuous mode and all
packets/traffic will be visible on Guest also and everything works as
expected.

ifconfig shows no drops on tap0 interface. I've check MAC addresses of
tap0(c2:30:61:72:8d:14) and guest's eth0 (fe:32:31:30:29:00). I don't
see problem here.

We've tried with eth1 interface not configured (no vlans) and still have
this problem.

This is Ubuntu 12.04.4 LTS server system with 3.2.0-67-generic kernel
and QEMU emulator version 1.0 (qemu-kvm-1.0), Copyright (c) 2003-2008
Fabrice Bellard.

Googling we found that similar problem was reported with much older system (but
very few details unfortunately):
http://www.serverphorums.com/read.php?12,28222

We failed to find any confirmation that this problem was fixed in newer
version. Is this a known bug? Any suggestions how to debug?

[Bug 36812]

2018-06-08 Thread kolya
Dear xorg developers. This is an old bug. In fact this is a 13 years old bug.
And it has been at least 7 years since this bug had a patch to fix it.
Yes, existing patch breaks specification. But one would seem that the fact that
patch existed for 7 years and was applied by default by popular distributions
without users` complains would suggest that existing patch is a practical
solution to the problem despite breaking theoretical (and as discussed here -
not well thought through) specification.
There is now once more spike of activity here - probably because Ubuntu 17.04
was released recently which dropped this patch because it was not compatible
with newer xorg. kyak has provided an updated patch, but it would take a lot of
time for distributions to pick it up and then circle would repeat with next
xorg version.

Yes, there has been a few heated discussions around this patch and XKB
specification. And yes, specifications are important, but this is really
annoying problem for people with more than one keyboard layout. Annoying
to the point of making xorg really unusable for some groups of people.
So is there any chance to get more practical with this bug?

For example, kyak's patch has a function 'xkbSwitchGroupOnRelease' that
is a stub to make new behaviour controllable by configuration. Would
xorg maintainers find this patch acceptable to upstream if that function
read value from some environment variable and only turned new behaviour
on if it was set?

I feel like it would allow XKB spec to stay and also would allow users
affected by this problem to solve it without recompiling xorg - which
average user would struggle to do.

Looking forward to your reply.
Thanks!

[Bug 1772927] Re: linux: 4.15.0-23.25 -proposed tracker

2018-06-08 Thread Po-Hsu Lin
>From the test history, this P8 node was tested with 4.15.0-21, which
mean that the deployment works with some version earlier than
4.15.0-21, and at least it can boot with 4.15.0-21 in the last cycle.

So it's a bit odd to me to see the deployment failure here, as it should
be deployed with working 4.15.0-21 from the last cycle.

And it's not the 4.15.0-23 in -proposed that's causing this this
problem, the system was never boot with 4.15.0-21.

[Bug 1772798] Re: Unity: Force start background plugin

2018-06-08 Thread Khurshid Alam
** Description changed:

  If a user, already running a Gnome session upgrades or install unity by
  installing unity-session, background plugin doesn't start automatically
  (with u-s-d). This plugin has been removed from gnome-settings-daemon
- and since gsd doesn't use it, it gets turned off.
+ (Ubuntu carries a patch which only adds back the schema) and since gsd
+ doesn't use it, it gets turned off.

  The background plugin is necessary to sync background related settings
  (wallpaper, sound, messages) with unity-greeter. If it doesn't start
  with u-s-d, changing wallpaper will not change the background of unity-
  greeter.

  The change was introduced in https://bazaar.launchpad.net/~unity-
  settings-daemon-team/unity-settings-daemon/trunk/revision/4179

  This can be done in gsettings-override (In unity specific section)

  [org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.background:Unity]

  Merge should happen against https://code.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-

[Bug 1775871] [NEW] local-link IPv6 address cannot be used

2018-06-08 Thread psl
Public bug reported:

Version 66.0.3359.181 (Official Build) Built on Ubuntu , running on
Ubuntu 16.04 (64-bit)

local-link IPv6 adresses (fe80::/10) are tricky. Network interface has
to be added to tell OS what interface to use (all network interfaces
have address with prefix fe80::)

So this is an example, simple demo that CURL can handle such address
well.

First, IPv6 address without interface, it fails, OS don't know what
interface to use

user@test:~$ curl http://[fe80::87f4:81fa:b481:d781]/test.html
curl: (7) Couldn't connect to server

Second, IPv6 address with interface (%enp4s0, it is NIC to local LAN).
It works.

user@test:~$ curl http://[fe80::87f4:81fa:b481:d781%enp4s0]/test.html
TEST

When I enter URL http://[fe80::87f4:81fa:b481:d781%enp4s0]/test.html to
Chromium, I receive search from Google, that is not what I expect...
Chromium cannot handle IPv6 addresses with extension for network
interface. BTW, I run CURL and Chromium at the same PC

[Bug 1775881] [NEW] Every time I boot up ubuntu, the login screen looks like a static TV screen. This does not occur with other login manages, only gdm3

2018-06-08 Thread Seija Kijin
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu Version 18.04 LTS

gdm3:
Installed: 3.28.0-0ubuntu1 500

Package name: /etc/gdm3

Whenever I boot Ubuntu following installation from the official install
ISO, the boot screen appears, but the login manager appears as static,
scrambled graphics, making me unable to login without opening the VT and
installing lightdm and switching to that login manager.

Expected Results:
Login manager appears with login field, background, and menu while I am able to
find, click, and enter information into the login text fields.

Actual Results:
Scrambled noise appeared on my screen and I am unable to leave without
force-shutting down my Gateway PC, or opening a VT and installing lightdm,
rebooting afterwards.

[Bug 1767508] Re: Installation of Ubuntu 18.04 on Intel / Dell Laptop fails

2018-06-08 Thread Phillip Susi
Your disk is currently partitioned to boot in bios mode, but you booted
the installer in EFI mode. A warning message prompted you that this
could be a problem and recommended performing a bios mode install
instead, but you chose not to. You either need to perform the bios mode
install, or partition the disk using GPT and set up an EFI system
partition to install in EFI mode. This will be done for you if you
choose the "use entire disk" guided install option.

[Bug 1774950] Re: Suspend fails in Ubuntu and Kubuntu 18.04 but works fine in Ubuntu and Kubuntu 17.10 (and on Kubuntu 18.04 using kernel 4.14.47)

2018-06-08 Thread pHeLiOn
@Mark Stosberg - thank you for adding your voice to the bug report. I
was wondering if this particular bug was mainly to do with Bay Trail
(Celeron/Atom) based CPU's using an SSD as their main storage, but if it
is affecting the Dell XPS 9370 then that rather scuppers my theory ;)

Can you just confirm that you've tried to get suspend working using the
nouveau.modeset=0 trick (you have nVidia graphics?) and also checking
whether it's an s2idle problem? There are a list of steps with details
here: https://askubuntu.com/questions/1029474/ubuntu-18-04-dell-
xps13-9370-no-longer-suspends-on-lid-close/1044270#1044270

I've been assuming that some XPS 9370's have resolved their suspend
issues with other fixes because the answer by monty47 was accepted.

If you could confirm that none of the other solutions gave good results
and only by using a 4.14 kernel on 18.04 solved the suspend issue, then
that would really help. And also force me to rethink my theory :)

Please include your hardware - CPU, RAM and storage device (It's an SSD
right?).

Kindest regards.

[Bug 1768621] Re: Installation of Ubuntu 18.04 Desktop installation crashes when unable to write Grub

2018-06-08 Thread Phillip Susi
Your disk is currently partitioned to boot in bios mode, but you booted
the installer in EFI mode. You either need to boot the installer in bios
mode, or partition the disk using GPT and set up an EFI system partition
to install in EFI mode. This will be done for you if you choose the "use
entire disk" guided install option.

[Bug 1768214] Re: error on ubuntu install

2018-06-08 Thread Chaopale Lamecarlate
Hello.

> Your disk is currently partitioned to boot in bios mode

I did not know that. I currently have a double boot with Windows - and
said Windows was installed by another person. I assumed that I was in
EFI mode because I assumed recent Windows did not accept bios.

Sorry.

I finally manage to install Ubuntu, directly from the LiveDVD prompt
("Install", and not "Try then install").

[Bug 1617022] Re: box width not resized for pam messages

2018-06-08 Thread nand
This bug affects us too. We tried working around the issue by switching
to a locale which provides timestamps in a shorter format by default
(e.g. DD.MM.YY) so it would still fit into the greeter box, but
apparently simply overriding $LANG and $LC_TIME is not enough to affect
the PAM messages.

[Bug 1775857] [NEW] libreoffice hangs on startup

2018-06-08 Thread John Tang Boyland
Public bug reported:

I've been using libreoffice off and on for a few years. When I tried to
use it today on my Ubuntu 16.04 LTS system, it wouldn't come up.
Clicking on the icons causes no action. Running "libreoffice" from the
command line silently hangs (nothing is printed, but the process doesn't
return). I can control-C it. I tried "apt-get remove libreaoffice"
followed by "apt-get install libreoffice" to no avail. I tried renaming
~/.config/libreoffice to ~/.config/libreoffice-hang, but also to no
avail.

I can run "libreoffice --version":

$ libreoffice --version
LibreOffice 5.1.6.2 10m0(Build:2)

And if I try to run it without an X11 display set, it gives an error:
$ libreoffice
/usr/bin/libreoffice: 56: cd: can't cd to
/afs/cs.uwm.edu/users/csfac/boyland/etc/dept/2018-05-25

   Set DISPLAY environment variable, use -display option
   or check permissions of your X-Server
   (See "man X" resp. "man xhost" for details)
But otherwise, I can't get any response: e.g.

[Bug 1775856] [NEW] register on binfmt_misc may overflow and crash the system

2018-06-08 Thread Thadeu Lima de Souza Cascardo
Public bug reported:

[Impact]
When registering a new binfmt_misc handler, it is possible to overflow
the offset to get a negative value, which might crash the system, or
possibly leak kernel data.

Here is a crash log when 25 was used as an offset:

Use kstrtoint instead of simple_strtoul. It will work as the code
already set the delimiter byte to '\0' and we only do it when the field
is not empty.

[Test Case]
Tested with offsets -1, 25, UINT_MAX and INT_MAX. Also tested
with examples documented at Documentation/admin-guide/binfmt-misc.rst
and other registrations from packages on Ubuntu.

[Regression]
Fail to register valid types. This was tested with a bionic kernel with the
patch.

2018-06-08 Thread quequotion
I found out what was breaking transparency, sort of; it was not related
to this bug report.

Still, for a while compiz was following my system color scheme for quite
a while, until one day it went back to Ubuntu orange and purple and I've
had to manually set colors ever since.

[Bug 1713702] Re: Ubiquity uninstalling chosen locale language packs

2018-06-08 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 173 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/173

@fossfreedom: Bug #173 made me test a British Ubuntu install
(comment #13) and I saw the same result. The fact that Ubiquity
uninstalls certain langsupport packages, which are on the ISO, is not
wrong in itself. The problem seems to be that it uninstalls British
packages even if the locale is British. That has apparently never been
the intention.

So the issue is not specific to Budgie. Marking this one as a duplicate,
since there are more details available on the other report.

[Bug 1775875] [NEW] Ubuntu 18.04 Lenovo X1 Carbon 5th fails to suspend after detaching dock station (NULL pointer dereference)

2018-06-08 Thread Roman
Public bug reported:

lsb_release -a
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description:Ubuntu 18.04 LTS
Release:18.04
Codename:   bionic

uname -r
4.15.0-22-generic

How to reproduce:
1) connect dock station
2) disconnect dock station
3) type: systemctl suspend

Result: system doesn't respond. Only Alt + Print Screen + SUB works.

There is a workaround for this issue - disable USB for thunderbolt 3 in
BIOS. But this is slightly an overkill.

[Bug 1775876] [NEW] wget cannot handle local-link IPv6 address

2018-06-08 Thread psl
Public bug reported:

GNU Wget 1.17.1 built on linux-gnu. (Ubuntu 16.04 amd64)

IPv6 local link addresses (fe80::/10) are tricky. Network interface has
to be specified to tell OS what interface to use. wget cannot handle
that

First, IPv6 address, no interface specified, it fails with an error
(error comes from OS)

user@test:~$ wget http://[fe80::87f4:81fa:b481:d781]/test.html
--2018-06-08 17:29:08--  http://[fe80::87f4:81fa:b481:d781]/test.html
Connecting to [fe80::87f4:81fa:b481:d781]:80... failed: Invalid argument.

Second, IPv6 address with interface specified (%enp4s0 added to IPv6
address), wget cannot handle this address format (and this bug report is
about this case)

user@test:~$ wget http://[fe80::87f4:81fa:b481:d781%enp4s0]/test.html
http://[fe80::87f4:81fa:b481:d781%enp4s0]/test.html: Invalid IPv6 numeric
address.

Compared with CURL, that can do it

First, IPv6 address without network interface, it fails with error from
OS

user@test:~$ curl http://[fe80::87f4:81fa:b481:d781]/test.html
curl: (7) Couldn't connect to server

Second, network interface is added and curl can handle it!

user@test:~$ curl http://[fe80::87f4:81fa:b481:d781%enp4s0]/test.html
TEST

CURL and WGET were tested at the same PC...

2018-06-08 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
Hello Iain, or anyone else affected,

Accepted gst-plugins-bad1.0 into bionic-proposed. The package will build
now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gst-
plugins-bad1.0/1.14.1-1ubuntu1~ubuntu18.04.1 in a few hours, and then in
the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed.Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-bionic to verification-done-bionic. If it does not
fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the
tag to verification-failed-bionic. In either case, without details of
your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification .  Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 1775235] Re: Ubuntu 16.04 (4.4.0-127) hangs on boot with virtio-scsi MQ enabled

2018-06-08 Thread Felipe Franciosi
Hi Joseph,

We gave it a try internally and it looks good. Passed the same set of
tests I ran with the previous kernel you provided: works with mq
disabled, enabled and also passes a simple io integrity test.

Thanks,
F.

[Bug 1775886] [NEW] Can't upload tarballs to PyPI - twine update required

2018-06-08 Thread Alberto Donato
Public bug reported:

When trying to upload a sdist (tar.gz) package to PyPI from Bionic, I
get the following error:

2018-06-08 Thread Paul White
Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does
not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to
a question in the support tracker.

We understand the difficulties you are facing, but it is better to raise
problems you are having in the support tracker at
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are uncertain if they are
bugs. You can also find help with your problem in the support forum of
your local Ubuntu community http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at
http://askubuntu.com or https://ubuntuforums.org.

For help on reporting bugs, see

[Bug 36812]

2018-06-08 Thread Ran Benita
No, I am only talking about myself, as a developer of xkbcommon; as I
said, I am not a xorg developer so I cannot speak for that. I do not
really mind if the spec is actually changed or not, what I am interested
in is:

1. A clear and precise description of the proposed change.
2. A serious consideration of how other parts of the spec may be affected by
the change.

You know how you want it to behave, so just write it down in the form a
patch against the spec. Then we can discuss further, with the goal of
reaching a solution in xkbcommon, at least. Let me know if you (or
anyone else who wants to do it) need any help.

[Bug 1768359] Re: grub failed to load (using ufi option not bios )

2018-06-08 Thread Phillip Susi
Your disk is currently partitioned to boot in bios mode, but you booted
the installer in EFI mode. A warning message prompted you that this
could be a problem and recommended performing a bios mode install
instead, but you chose not to. You either need to perform the bios mode
install, or partition the disk using GPT and set up an EFI system
partition to install in EFI mode. This will be done for you if you
choose the "use entire disk" guided install option.

[Bug 1775891] [NEW] ping6 doesn't handle IPv6 addresses well

2018-06-08 Thread psl
Public bug reported:

ping6 utility, iputils-s20121221, Ubuntu 16.04.4 amd64

IPv6 address can have extension with local interface. It is required to
ping link-level IPv6 addresses (fe80::/10).

Example,

ping6 fails, OS doesn't know where to route packets

user@test$ ping6 -c1 fe80::87f4:81fa:b481:d781
connect: Invalid argument

network interface is specified, ping6 works:

user@test$ ping6 -c1 fe80::87f4:81fa:b481:d781%enp4s0
PING fe80::87f4:81fa:b481:d781%enp4s0(fe80::87f4:81fa:b481:d781) 56 data bytes
64 bytes from fe80::87f4:81fa:b481:d781: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=0.461 ms

--- fe80::87f4:81fa:b481:d781%enp4s0 ping statistics ---
1 packets transmitted, 1 received, 0% packet loss, time 0ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 0.461/0.461/0.461/0.000 ms

Ping loopback, it works

user@test$ ping6 -c1 ::1
PING ::1(::1) 56 data bytes
64 bytes from ::1: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=0.039 ms
--- ::1 ping statistics ---
1 packets transmitted, 1 received, 0% packet loss, time 0ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 0.039/0.039/0.039/0.000 ms

But when I add %lo, ping6 cannot handle it This is the issue I want
to report.

user@test$ ping6 -c1 ::1%lo
unknown host

Other example with real IPv6 address

user@test$ ping6 -c1 2001:470:6e:66::2
PING 2001:470:6e:66::2(2001:470:6e:66::2) 56 data bytes
64 bytes from 2001:470:6e:66::2: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=0.054 ms

--- 2001:470:6e:66::2 ping statistics ---
1 packets transmitted, 1 received, 0% packet loss, time 0ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 0.054/0.054/0.054/0.000 ms

user@test$ ping6 -c1 2001:470:6e:66::2%sit1
unknown host

BTW, CURL can do it...

user@test$ curl http://[::1%lo]/test.htm
TEST

user@test$ curl http://[2001:470:6e:66::2%sit1]/test.html
curl: (7) Failed to connect to 2001:470:6e:66::2 port 80: Connection refused

Yes, curl fails in this case but there is no http server configured at
that IPv6 address... Important point is it tries to connect. Here is a
proof:

user@test$ curl http://[2001:470:6e:66::2%sit1]:22/test.html
SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_7.2p2 Ubuntu-4ubuntu2.4
Protocol mismatch.
curl: (56) Recv failure: Connection reset by peer

  64 bytes from ::1: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=0.039 ms
  --- ::1 ping statistics ---
  1 packets transmitted, 1 received, 0% packet loss, time 0ms
  rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 0.039/0.039/0.039/0.000 ms

  But when I add %lo, ping6 cannot handle it This is the issue I want
  to report.
-

  user@test$ ping6 -c1 ::1%lo
  unknown host

  Other example with real IPv6 address

  user@test$ ping6 -c1 2001:470:6e:66::2
  PING 2001:470:6e:66::2(2001:470:6e:66::2) 56 data bytes
  64 bytes from 2001:470:6e:66::2: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=0.054 ms

  rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 0.054/0.054/0.054/0.000 ms

-
  user@test$ ping6 -c1 2001:470:6e:66::2%sit1
  unknown host
-

  BTW, CURL can do it...

  user@test$ curl http://[::1%lo]/test.htm
  TEST

  user@test$ curl http://[2001:470:6e:66::2%sit1]/test.html
  curl: (7) Failed to connect to 2001:470:6e:66::2 port 80: Connection refused

  Yes, curl fails in this case but there is no http server configured at
  that IPv6 address... Important point is it tries to connect. Here is a
  proof:

  user@test$ curl http://[2001:470:6e:66::2%sit1]:22/test.html
  SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_7.2p2 Ubuntu-4ubuntu2.4
  Protocol mismatch.
  curl: (56) Recv failure: Connection reset by peer

[Bug 1768553] Re: [18.04] Grub2-efi package failed to install into /target/

2018-06-08 Thread Phillip Susi
Your disk is currently partitioned to boot in bios mode, but you booted
the installer in EFI mode. You either need to boot the installer in bios
mode, or partition the disk using GPT and set up an EFI system partition
to install in EFI mode. This will be done for you if you choose the "use
entire disk" guided install option.

[Bug 1512120]

2018-06-08 Thread B-frank-r
I can confirm the crash with drag-drop operations after applying th
patch from comment #76. I opened two instances of Thunar, selected two
different folders and moved a file from one location to the next using
drag-drop. This went ok. However, when moving the file back Thunar
crashed. It turned out that the file was moved back before the crash
though.

I'm affected by this bug. I independently discovered the disable "Use

I don't think I had this problem with an NVIDIA graphics card, it was
only when I changed over to an AMD RX580 that the flickering started.

[Bug 1765261] Re: [regression] Ubuntu 18.04 login screen rejects a valid password on first attempt (if starting with Shift key). Usually works on the second attempt

2018-06-08 Thread Gabriel Bernard
