[Bug 1816529] [NEW] The print order will become reversed
Public bug reported: Description: When we print a larger (more pages) PDF file first, and then print a test page, the actual results will become printed in reverse order. It is reproduced by HP and Brother printer driver too. We'd like you to answer the following questions. 1. Is it CUPS's specification or bug? 2. If it is a bug, do you have any plan to fix it? 3. Is there any workaround? Steps to reproduce: 1. Install the same driver from http://www.openprinting.org/ppd-o-matic.php?driver=Postscript-Ricoh&printer=Ricoh-SP_8400DN&show=0 twice and called different name (such as: largeimageprint and normalprint) and specify the same printer’s IP address. 2. Get the test PDF file from the following URL http://www.ricoh.co.jp/pdf/34141700/SP_C751_750_C420e_C352_C342_C341.pdf 3. Open the PDF file, click "File" → "Print", select the "largeimageprint" driver and print. 4. When the job information of PDF file is appearing in [Document and Print Status] dialog, select the "normalprint" driver to print test page. 5. Confirm the print result Expected result: PDF file will be printed first, and then test page will be printed. Actual result: Test Page will be printed first, and then PDF file will be printed. Note: We confirmed the CUPS error log and found that when the PDF file print (Job No. 44) is still being processed, but the processing of the test page print (Job No. 45) has already been completed. [Bug 1816530] [NEW] DNS servers are not being set in the system correctly when you upgrade from 16.04 to 18.04
Public bug reported: I upgraded my 16.04 to 18.04 before the official release. After the upgrade I noticed that I don't have internet access. The wired network and the wifi settings looked good, but the internet didn't work. After the login the system always switched itself into airplane mode. I tethered the network via USB and Bluetooth by my mobile but they also didn't work. [Bug 1790856] Re: [MIR] pmdk
Just hit a snag with the new 1.5 upstream version, which I now realize Adam mentioned earlier. It changed the ondisk format[1] and requires an external tool[2] to convert to the new format. This tool (pmdk-convert) is not packaged yet. If we upgrade to 1.5, we would leave 1.4 users with no way to convert to the 1.5 format. That being said, I believe the version that should be evaluated for an MIR is at least 1.5, due to the changes it introduces. 1. https://github.com/pmem/pmdk/blob/master/ChangeLog#L9 2. https://github.com/pmem/pmdk-convert -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1790856 Title: [MIR] pmdk To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pmdk/+bug/1790856/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1800566] Re: Make the reset_devices parameter default for kdump kernels
Debdiffs for this bug were attached to LP#1800562 ** Description changed: [Impact] Crash kernels do not advise some subsystems to perform a reset by default. [Description] Kernel has the "reset_devices" parameter that drivers can opt-in, and perform special activity in case this parameter is parsed from command-line. For example, in kdump kernels it hints the drivers that they (maybe) are booting from a non-healthy condition and needs to issue some reset to the adapter. Users currently (kernel v4.19) are: hpsa, ipr, megaraid_sas, mpt3sas, smartpqi, xenbus. This should be enabled by default in the kdump config file to be added in the kdump kernel command-line for all versions. [Test Case] 1) Deploy a Disco VM e.g. with uvt-kvm 2) Install the kdump-tools package 3) Run `kdump-config test`and check for the 'reset_devices' parameter: $ kdump-config test - [...] + ... kexec command to be used: - /sbin/kexec -p --command-line="BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-4.15.0-45-generic root=LABEL=cloudimg-rootfs ro console=tty1 console=ttyS0 nr_cpus=1 systemd.unit=kdump-tools.service irqpoll nousb ata_piix.prefer_ms_hyperv=0" /var/lib/kdump/vmlinuz + /sbin/kexec -p --command-line="BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-4.15.0-45-generic root=LABEL=cloudimg-rootfs ro console=tty1 console=ttyS0 nr_cpus=1 systemd.unit=kdump-tools.service irqpoll nousb ata_piix.prefer_ms_hyperv=0" /var/lib/kdump/vmlinuz [Regression Potential] The regression potential is very low, since it doesn't need any changes in makedumpfile code and we're only adding a parameter on the crashkernel cmdline. The fix will be tested with autopkgtests and normal kdump use-case scenarios. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1800566 Title: Make the reset_devices parameter default for kdump kernels To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/makedumpfile/+bug/1800566/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1800562] Re: Replace "nousb" option in kdump command-line for the newer "usbcore.nousb"
** Description changed: [Impact] Crash kernels come up with the usb subsystem enabled, even when it should be disabled by default. [Description] Since kernel v4.5, the correct parameter to disable USB subsystem initialization is "usbcore.nousb" always (instead of "nousb" in case the subsystem is built-in). This was changed by commit 097a9ea0e48 ("usb: make "nousb" a clear module parameter"). We need to take this into account in kdump-tools, or else we may boot with USB in kdump even the command-line saying the opposite. This affects Xenial onwards, since the system may be running an HWE or other supported v4.5+ kernel. [Test Case] 1) Deploy a Disco VM e.g. with uvt-kvm 2) Install the kdump-tools package 3) Run `kdump-config test`and check for the 'usbcore.nousb' parameter: $ kdump-config test - [...] + ... kexec command to be used: /sbin/kexec -p --command-line="BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-4.15.0-45-generic root=LABEL=cloudimg-rootfs ro console=tty1 console=ttyS0 nr_cpus=1 systemd.unit=kdump-tools.service irqpoll nousb ata_piix.prefer_ms_hyperv=0" /var/lib/kdump/vmlinuz [Regression Potential] The regression potential is very low, since it doesn't need any changes in makedumpfile and we're only adding a parameter on the crashkernel cmdline. According to kernel documentation [0], unknown parameters will be ignored if they contain a dot (usbcore.nousb), so this change should have no impact on v4.4 and earlier kernels. Nonetheless, the fix will be tested with autopkgtests and normal kdump use-case scenarios. We uploaded the snap and used the snap store description editor to choose "Other Open Source" software and it shows up as "Proprietary" in gnome-software. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1778607 Title: Snaps with "Other Open Source" license (not SPDX compliant) are listed as Propietary. There is no autopkgtest * Dependencies No universe binary dependencies * Standards compliance current 4.2 standards-version, debhelper compat 11, dh 7 style simple rules * Maintenance Upstream is active, the package is maintained in Debian and in sync for Ubuntu ** Affects: usbguard (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1816548 Title: [MIR] usbguard To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/usbguard/+bug/1816548/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1816551] [NEW] alpine performance regression with IMAP
Public bug reported: Alpine 2.21 has a performance regression with respect to 2.20. The "folder list" screen, which used to appear instantaneously, can repeatedly take 5 to 10s to appear if one has a lot (a hundred or so) of IMAP folders, and the option quell-empty-directories is set. As this screen needs to be entered every time one changes folder, it is very annoying. After correspondence with Eduardo Chappa, alpine's current upstream maintainer, he produced the attached one-line patch which fixes the issue. (See also https://repo.or.cz/alpine.git/commit/35f3426203172af028df5a6e39bc6dea2514020d .) Given that the patch looks simple, and the benefits are considerable, I'd like to suggest updating the 18.04LTS package. [Bug 1755863] Re: netbooting the bionic live CD over NFS goes straight to maintenance mode :
@beta-tester I can finally boot with network using the workaround in 18.04.2. The workaround is, however, a bit difficult to apply, unless there is another way to do it. unmkinitramfs will only extract one of the 2 embedded microcodes and thus I'm extracting the initrd manually. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1755863 Title: netbooting the bionic live CD over NFS goes straight to maintenance mode : To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/systemd/+bug/1755863/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
