[Bug 1870721] Re: Ubuntu dock showing shortcut to "Dash to dock"

2020-04-03 Thread Alexandre Speltri
** Package changed: ubuntu => gnome-shell-extension-ubuntu-dock (Ubuntu)

** Description changed:

  1-) The release of Ubuntu: Ubuntu 20.04 Beta - everything updated -
  clean install, no installed extra extensions or programs

  2-)The version of the package you are using: Ubuntu dock extension
  version: 67ubuntu20.04.3

  3) What you expected to happen: Right clicking "Show applications"
  shouldn't show "Dash to dock settings"

  By default in "Dash to dock" - which Ubuntu dock is based on - when
  right clicking the "Show applications", the user gets a shortcut to the
  Dash to Dock settings. But this behavior is also present in the Ubuntu
  version of the extension. And if you try to open this "Dash to dock
  settings" using the Ubuntu dock (which shouldn't have an option to this
  shortcut at all), I get a notification with the following error message
  " Execution of "gnome-shell-extensions-prefs" failed: Command not found
  ".
-
- PS: Launchpad pointed that "gnome-shell-extension-ubuntu-dock does not
- exist in Ubuntu", although it is installed by default.

[Bug 1870729] [NEW] DHCP Server regularly killed code=killed, status=6/ABRT

2020-04-03 Thread Andrew Welham
Public bug reported:

On Ubuntu 20.04 The idc-dhcp- server version is

  Installed: (none)
  Candidate: 4.4.1-2.1ubuntu3
  Version table:
 4.4.1-2.1ubuntu3 500

The DHCP server is being regularly killed, when searching google the bug looks
very similar to an older bug regarding accessing a lease file, that was fixed
year ago. As a temporary fix in systemd I have enabled a restart every time the
main process fails. The error got worse when i start to run a pair of dhcp
servers syncing state between each other

I regularly see the following in the syslog

[Bug 1854621] Re: ubuntu 20.04 daily boots with no background, selecting other background has warped picture

2020-04-03 Thread Chris Guiver
I ran a QA-test on (2020-Apr-03 ubu 20.04 desktop amd64)
dell [optiplex] 745 (c2d-6600, 6gb, amd/ati radeon rv516/x1300/x1550)
because lshw reports same video card, no glitches there with wallpaper on boot,
nor changing wallpaper.

--- possibly unrelated
I did have that box boot the first time to "Oh No, something went wrong" and
want me to logout, to get itself stuck in a loop.. I scanned dmesg and no
squashfs errs, thought about filing then rebooted to see if it occurred again
and nope.

[Bug 1870725] Re: artifacts appearing on gnome shell

2020-04-03 Thread Chris Guiver
Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

If you change wallpapers, does the issue still occur? Does it occur if
you have windows fullscreen (eg. if firefox is your open window and
maximized so it covers your wallpaper, do you see the artifacts?) or are
they visible only on your wallpaper?

[Bug 1772588] Re: Remove obsolete X11 drivers from the archive

2020-04-03 Thread Timo Aaltonen
Bug filed on Debian. It's missing some from our list:

kbd/mouse still needed by hurd/kfreebsd

and xwiimote is not maintained by XSF, and same applies to mtrack which
was accidentally included on the list. Both are essentially abandoned by
the maintainer too, and I've poked him about these.

Anyway, we can drop these as well.

[Bug 1870339] Re: FFe: Sync collectd 5.11.0-2 (universe) from Debian sid (main)

2020-04-03 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
Thanks for the report, indeed a nice set of fixes and cleanups for the LTS to
have.
And indeed you have all my FTFBS fixes in Debian nowadays and the PPA seems to
build fine.
Lets see what the release team says.

I'll subscribe myself to help sponsoring and help migration of the sync
in case the release team approves.

[Bug 1870235] Re: [focal] pacemaker v2.0.3 last upstream fixes

2020-04-03 Thread Rafael David Tinoco
Cherry-picks that seem to make sense after 2.0.3 release are:

Fix: tools: Fix definition of curses_indented_printf.
Fix: iso8601: Fix crm_time_parse_offset() to parse offset with plus sign.
Log: libcrmcommon: correctly raise detail log line length
Low: libcrmservice: handle child wait errors appropriately
Log: libcrmservice: improve messages when waiting for child process
Refactor: libcrmservice: isolate SIGCHLD handling
Fix: libstonithd, tools: Fix arguments to stonith-event.
Fix: libpengine: Options should be unsigned int, not long.
Fix: libstonithd: Some validate arguments should be non-const.
Fix: scheduler: make sure cluster-wide maintenance-mode=true overrides
per-resource settings
Fix: tools: Correct the crm_mon man page.

There are too many fixes but mostly related to in-development
refactorings so it's hard to distinguish if a fix is fixing something
that exists already in v2.0.3.

I preferred to be conservative and pick the ones that made more sense -
core parts - and were solved right after the release (and of course
didn't introduce new features and major code refactoring).

A list of all commits after v2.0.3 can be seen at:

[Bug 1870461] Re: zsysd uses more than half of CPU and disk IO

2020-04-03 Thread Didier Roche
Thanks for reporting this bug and sorry you have an issue with zsys.

It seems that zsys is going crazy in an infinite loop, I would be interested to
know why:
1. can you try running manually "sudo zsysd -vv" and see paste the logs here?
Do you have the spinning loops in that way as well?
2. if you don’t have the CPU going crazy, keep zsysd running as above and
please run in another terminal "zsysctl service gc". Is the CPU going crazy
now? If so, please attach the logs to this report.

Can you paste as well the result of:
- zpool list
- zfs list -t all

Disabling the socket and service is fine for now to prevent you going
into this loop (but you won’t be able to revert as it’s zsys handling
this). The error message just tell that it can’t save automatically the
state which is expected as it’s zsysd doing it. This doesn’t hurt apart
from not saving and not breaking your apt state.

Note that we have important (not zsys but zfs layout related) fixes in
the incoming beta image (due today), I doubt though this is what is
causing your issue.

Thanks in advance!

--- Comment From cborn...@de.ibm.com 2020-04-03 02:46 EDT---
For reference (in case Canoninical wants to track upstream commit IDs)
Linus Torvalds has finally pulled the KVM/Kernel changes scheduled for 5.7-rc1.
https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=8c1b724ddb218f221612d4c649bc9c7819d8d7a6

the commit IDs have not changed.

Same for the common code memory management patch
https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=f28d43636d6f940e60abef4f0131119836c8ebd4

[Bug 1776873] Re: Whitelisted allowedURLschemes breaks some desktop apps

2020-04-03 Thread Troy Ready
Can anyone help with a workaround suggestion while we're waiting for
this to get fixed?

I normally manually patch package issues like this, but for some reason
it doesn't seem to be working in this case:

```
TMPDIR=$(mktemp -d)
cd $TMPDIR
apt-get -y source snapd
sed -i 's/"http", "https", "mailto", "snap", "help"/"http", "https", "mailto",
"snap", "help", "apt", "zoommtg", "slack"/'
2020-04-03 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
Lol - sorry for the noise after seeing another case like that I had to realize
that focal-unapproved just is multiple pages now :-)
It is on the second page still waiting for the release team to accept after
beta is out.
2020-04-03 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
@Jamie/John - did you let this upload cancel from focal-unapproved?
It was, but is no more in -unapproved - but it also does not show up in
-proposed.
I'm confused and was wondering if this was lost in work of the release-team or
if you cancelled (and plan to re-upload) it intentionally?
[Bug 1869470] Re: Can't minimize Thunderbird Lightning reminder window
2020-04-03 Thread Dominik
apport information
** Tags added: apport-collected focal
** Description changed:
  Ever since Ubuntu moved back to Gnome from Unity, it's impossible to
  minimize the Thunderbird Lightning reminder window. It's really
  annoying, the window is always on top of Thunderbird and has to be
  constantly moved around to use the program.
- Closing the window makes no sense as a) it tends to start syncing the
- events with reminders, which can show conflict prompts requiring even
- more work from the user and b) the window comes back very quickly. So,
- minimize makes the most sense.
I've also noticed the sometimes different paste result (from one or another
clipboard)
bug since 19.10 and migrated yesterday to 20.04 ->the bug is still there
[Bug 1855668] patch 1/2
2020-04-03 Thread bugproxy
--- Comment on attachment From daniel.axte...@ibm.com 2020-04-03 03:05
EDT---
Hi Seth,
Thanks, that was extremely helpful.
Nayna noticed that I was overly keen to lock things down - I should only
lock down in Secure mode: if a system is in Trusted mode only I
shouldn't lock it down. This now matches the UEFI behaviour: (AFAICT)
measurements are made unconditionally but lockdown only occurs in Secure
Boot mode.
I have updated patch 1/2.
Kind regards,
Daniel
[Bug 1773324] Re: [SRU] rabbitmqadmin shows %%VSN%% as version
2020-04-03 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
The fix taken is mixed with some py3 changes, but it eventually was in
d/rules:
+override_dh_install:
+   dh_install
+   sed -i s/%%VSN%%/$(VERSION)/
$(CURDIR)/debian/rabbitmq-server/usr/bin/rabbitmqadmin
From:
https://salsa.debian.org/openstack-team/third-party/rabbitmq-server/-/commit/9d13c83ecab526e46d01e4250d157f2085fa43b6
Using the same change would make a later merge easier.
We can consider SRUs later, lets get this into Focal while we still can.
@Bryce - this one is still assigned to you - are you going to revamp
that for a focal upload?
[Bug 1870482] [NEW] apt-btrfs-snapshot blocks apt
2020-04-03 Thread Mauro Miatello via ubuntu-bugs
Public bug reported:
I've installed apt-btrfs-snapshot
then every apt operation shows:
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/bin/apt-btrfs-snapshot", line 29, in
from apt_btrfs_snapshot import AptBtrfsSnapshot
  File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/apt_btrfs_snapshot.py", line 28, in
from distutils.spawn import find_executable
ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'distutils.spawn'
so I've installed python3-distutils, now apt doesn't work any more:
Supported
ERROR: Could not statfs: No such file or directory
E: Problem executing scripts DPkg::Pre-Invoke 'if [ -x
/usr/bin/apt-btrfs-snapshot ] && apt-btrfs-snapshot supported; then
also I can't remove packages
workaround is renaming /usr/bin/apt-btrfs-snapshot
[Bug 1577943] Re: kompare not highlighting intra line differences. Bold text not shown. Problems with kompare and fonts
2020-04-03 Thread Ganton
The problem still happens using Kubuntu 18.04 LTS. This time the Hack
font is used by default.
In Kubuntu 14.04 LTS: kompare used the "DejaVu Sans Mono" font by
default, and kompare correctly highlighted intra line differences.
In Kubuntu 18.04 LTS: if users manually configure kompare to use the
"DejaVu Sans Mono" font, then kompare correctly highlights intra line
differences. But users aren't told about it, and the problem is seen.
** Description changed:
  Dear Sirs:
  I suppose that you already know that, although I've looked for a bug
  report but it didn't appear:
  Using Kubuntu 16.04 this problem is seen: "kompare not highlighting
- intra line differences". There are more details in: https://osdir.com/ml
- /kompare-devel/2016-01/msg5.html
+ intra line differences". There are more details in:
+ https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=329912
  In the former Kubuntu LTS release (Kubuntu 14.04): kompare uses the
  "DejaVu Sans Mono" font by default, and kompare correctly highlights
  intra line differences.  But in Kubuntu 16.04 LTS, using kompare an
  Oxygen font by default, the aforementioned problem is seen.
  Perhaps Kubuntu 16.04 LTS should include an Oxygen bold font? Or in
  Kubuntu 16.04 LTS  another font should be used in kompare? Or maybe is
  something that kompare should solve and highlighting should work using a
  normal font? Or is a problem in another component? (please feel free to
  move this bug report to another category :-) )
[Bug 1870340] Re: FFe: Sync freeradius 3.0.21+dfsg-1 (main) from Debian sid (main)
2020-04-03 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
We are not too far behind) at:
3.0.20+dfsg-3build1
New:
3.0.21+dfsg-1
So the upgrade really just this new version (no others in between).
This really seems mostly a fix release and a good one to have in 20.04 for the
reduced permissions.
Thanks for the bug!
The one thing worth to double check was if the collectd enabling pulls in any
universe packages.
But it does not, the only thing added is libcrypt1 which is in main already.
+1 from me personally, but still up to the release team to FFe-accept
before we can sync it.
[Bug 1870427] Re: package smartmontools 7.1-1build1 failed to install/upgrade: conffile difference visualizer subprocess returned error exit status 127
2020-04-03 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
Hmm, the pager is called from dpkg to show the diff in your case.
This didn't change and dpkg doesn't do anything magic.
I can only assume that you might have the "pager" itself setup in an odd way.
Due to a bug or intentional - I don't know.
Could you report back the output of:
$ update-alternatives  --display pager
That most likely should look like:
root@f2:~# update-alternatives  --display pager
pager - auto mode
  link best version is /usr/bin/less
  link currently points to /usr/bin/less
  link pager is /usr/bin/pager
  slave pager.1.gz is /usr/share/man/man1/pager.1.gz
/bin/more - priority 50
  slave pager.1.gz: /usr/share/man/man1/more.1.gz
/usr/bin/less - priority 77
  slave pager.1.gz: /usr/share/man/man1/less.1.gz
If that is broken then I could see how the above error could happen.
Finally if that is not a local setup issue, then still it would be more
likely in dpkg and or less (as the common and default pager - both are
auto-installed and I see them updated in your log). I'll re-assign the
bug tasks accordingly.
As I have previously commented, the geode driver is NOT obsolete.  It
[Bug 1867916] Re: Regression in kernel 4.15.0-91 causes kernel panic with Bcache
2020-04-03 Thread Sebastian Marsching
Hi Mauricio,
there is the problem that this tarball contains an awful lot of
sensitive data, some of that personal data that is protected under the
GDPR.
Maybe you could tell me which specific parts / sections you are
interested in, so that I can anonymize and upload them.
Thanks,
Sebastian
[Bug 1870513] Re: "Date and Time" not correctly displaying months
2020-04-03 Thread Johandrex
Alright, so it appears I chose the "wrong" Swedish.
There's 3 other regions you can choose "smj_SE", "sma_SE" and "sv_SE".
The correct one shows the correct date, etc is "sv_SE", while "smj_SE & sma_SE"
displays it as M04.
On Ubuntu 20.04 freshly installed, double clicking on a text file which
[Bug 1870523] [NEW] Ubuntu 20.04 Top bar - white residual arrows
2020-04-03 Thread Jakub Klos
Public bug reported:
Hello,
Ubuntu 20.04 beta (Apr 2nd 2020)
1. Click the top bar date section and click again to close
As a result you have a white arrow beneath the date section.
Use mouse over or click to desktop to fix and remove the arrow
2. The same applies to Activities and the right top bar section
If you click to open a menu and then click to close. The white arrow remains.
See the attached screenshot
[Bug 1870524] [NEW] fallback to SW cursor on GPU hotplug
2020-04-03 Thread Aleksander Miera
Public bug reported:
I guess the title is pretty much self-explanatory.
The issue has been discovered while connecting EVDI-backed device
(https://github.com/DisplayLink/evdi) with a running Xorg session and led to
filing of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1870512
However, fixing the issue with SW cursor is only a partial solution in that
case, as sticking to SW cursor can potentially hinder performance.
I am aware of this (dix/dispatch.c):
update_desktop_dimensions();
/*
 * We cannot register the Screen PRIVATE_CURSOR key if cursors are already
 * created, because dix/privates.c does not have relocation code for
 * PRIVATE_CURSOR. Once this is fixed the if() can be removed and we can
 * register the Screen PRIVATE_CURSOR key unconditionally.
 */
if (!dixPrivatesCreated(PRIVATE_CURSOR))
dixRegisterScreenPrivateKey(, pScreen,
PRIVATE_CURSOR, 0);
return i;
}
as well as several other similar places in Xorg's code. Question is: how big
effort would it be to actually fix this?
Should this be reported/consulted with the upstream directly maybe?
[Bug 1870520] [NEW] spinner theme needs a fallback oem graphic, if there is none
2020-04-03 Thread Dimitri John Ledkov
Public bug reported:
the new default ubuntu boot theme, shows OEM vendor logo during boot,
and it looks very slick on UEFI / brand-name laptops. There is large
dell/lenovo/etc logos, spinner, ubuntu logo.
However, under some boots, there is no vendor logo available (either
buggy firmware, buggy firmware settings, or BIOS boot with no logo
available, ie. VM).
In that case we possibly want to have a fallback graphics in plymouth.
Something monochome and big (needs a new asset) i.e. just the canonical
circle.
Incidentally, can we fix our SeaBIOS VM firmware to expose a logo in
BIOS boot that plymouth can use and show here? Something like SeaBIOS?
I.e. under UEFI boot, there is a large Tianocore logo.
