[Bug 2061551] Re: Merely booting Ubuntu 24.04 beta live CD breaks BitLocker & booting anything using Shim
I am still pretty sure it is the variable storage failure mode we are seeing in this firmware. I also personally own an ASUS device with firmware from 2019 and I managed to reach the same failure mode on it even when using Mantic. Also let me try to explain why errors crop up in other places too: You can see multiple failures besides 'tpm_measure_variable()' including: - 'Create SbatLevelRT : Volume Full', - 'Create MokListRT: Volume Full', and - 'import_mok_state() failed Volume Full' on the last image. These all internally call `SetVariable()`. The reason I suspect 'tpm_measure_variable()' also fails is because presumably it tries to internally write to the varstore and then propagates this error. Also keep in mind the used space and percentage indicator provided by the kernel for efivarfs might very well not be accurate at all. If disabling Secure Boot really isn't enough, you can try removing shim-signed and then installing just GRUB on this device. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2061551 Title: Merely booting Ubuntu 24.04 beta live CD breaks BitLocker & booting anything using Shim To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/secureboot-db/+bug/2061551/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2059898] Re: Subiquity fails to download packages after ignoring mirror test result
** Description changed: Context --- * We have a screen in Subiquity where the user can provide the URL of the mirror to use for the installation. E.g., http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu. After setting the URL, Subiquity automatically "tests" the mirror by running a minimal apt-get update. - * Currently, if the test fails, the user can select a different mirror or continue despite the failure. Continuing despite the failure usually leads to an error (and therefore a failed installation) when fetching a package later in the installation. + * Currently, if the test fails, the user can select a different mirror or continue despite the failure. Continuing despite the failure usually leads to an error (and therefore a failed installation) when fetching a package at a later during the installation. * The other option is for the user to go back to the network screen and disable all the NICs - resulting in a fully offline installation. This is hardly a solution when installing over the network.. Request --- * Change the behavior (and adjust the TUI) of Subiquity when the user decides to ignore a mirror testing failure. [Bug 2061743] [NEW] Revert back to Debian non-t64 packages?
Public bug reported: Hi I'm maintainer of the Debian Shishi package and also upstream of this package. You opened bug about t64 API and uploaded renamed packages into Debian: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1062896 However my analysis is that no package renames is necessary since libshishi always used 64-bit time_t even on 32-bit hosts. So I have reverted the package rename in Debian. See analysis: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1062896#24 Would it be possible to revert the package renaming in Ubuntu? As far as I can tell, that will just cause package syncing incompatibility going forward. If you have any more information about why you believe shishi is affected by any time_t migration API/ABI issue, and actually need a package rename to uphold ABI on armhf, of course that would be welcome. /Simon ** Affects: shishi (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2061743 Title: Revert back to Debian non-t64 packages? [Bug 2059847] Re: Input lag or freezes on Nvidia desktops with X11 after logging "MetaSyncRing: Sync object is not ready -- were events handled properly?"
I opened a similar bug and @vanvugt advised me to come here. I read everything and will try the PPA if need be. But I'm using a driver that nobody mentioned, which was selected by Dell who assembled the machine and installed the OS. On Nvidia driver section, I'm using "Set the power ondemand mode by default from oem-fix-gfx-nvidia-ondemandmode". I also have drives 535 and 470 available in the menu, but when I install them, my default setting disappears. I had to fully reinstall the OS to get it back. Nvidia themselves advise on their download page to not necessarily use their proprietary drivers on some Linux distribs, so I stuck with my default driver. Will the PPA and the mutter downgrade be of use with this default setting ? Also, installing proprietary pilot from the Software & update menu raised an error, so I aborted the process. [Bug 2048517] Re: EPYC-Rome model without XSAVES may break live migration since the removal of the flag on the physical CPU
Hello Sergio, thanks for providing the patch. I have installed qemu on my test machine. The new epyc-rome-v4 is now listed by qemu ``` # qemu-system-x86_64 -enable-kvm -cpu help| grep -i epyc-rome-v x86 EPYC-Rome-v1 AMD EPYC-Rome Processor x86 EPYC-Rome-v2 AMD EPYC-Rome Processor x86 EPYC-Rome-v3 AMD EPYC-Rome-v3 Processor x86 EPYC-Rome-v4 AMD EPYC-Rome-v4 Processor (no XSAVES) ``` But I am not able to have the VM dropping xsaves. I have stopped/started the VM running on my host but it is still requiring the xsaves feature. Same for newly created VMs on the host, they still require the xsaves feature, that means can't be migrated to hosts which have already dropped the xsaves cpu flag. I have also tried to restart nova-compute and libvirtd but still the same: ``` # virsh dumpxml instance-005ac280 | grep xsaves ``` I believe this patch is not enough to allow migrations between hosts with xsaves and w/o xsaves or I am missing some steps. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2048517 Title: EPYC-Rome model without XSAVES may break live migration since the removal of the flag on the physical CPU To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qemu/+bug/2048517/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2060778] Re: netplan, multiple dhcp route with metric failure
As far as I know I am not using NetworkManager, 'nmcli dev' shows the following: DEVICE TYPE STATE CONNECTION virbr0 bridgenem kezelt -- vm-br0 bridgenem kezelt -- lan ethernet nem kezelt -- lo loopback nem kezelt -- iscsi vlan nem kezelt -- vm vlan nem kezelt -- ('nem kezelt' means not managed; the 'iscsi' interface is a statically configured vlan device to access the VM storage backend) My usecase is somewhat special as I use the desktop distribution with a somewhat more complicated setup than usual because I need to use networked VMs for my work. I am using networkd as I thought it would be more appropriate than NetworkManager. Upon further investigation to the original matter I believe it is really an issue with systemd-resolved instead of netplan, so sorry for taking your time. My local router resolves hostnames differently for the host and the VM networks. After startup or issuing a 'netplan apply' after resume the resolver for the host ('lan' network) is being used as primary, BUT after resume not issuing a 'netplan apply' command somehow the resolver for the VM network takes precedence - which is bad. Then the host will obviously try to access the 'misresolved' systems through the wrong gateway, which is really only the symptom not the cause. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2060778 Title: netplan, multiple dhcp route with metric failure To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/netplan/+bug/2060778/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1990450] Re: Show potential Ubuntu Pro updates and apt news messages
In a Xenial virtual machine, installed update-manager from proposed (.21), confirmed there were updates available with pro security-status. I attached the machine to Pro, restarted update-manager and verified that the section was now 'Ubuntu Pro security updates' with installable Pro packages. [Bug 2061739] Re: crash in meta_wayland_transaction_commit
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps: 1. Run these commands: journalctl -b0 > journal.txt journalctl -b-1 > prevjournal.txt and attach the resulting text files here. 2. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run: ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug. 3. If step 2 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine. Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please send the links to us. Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security risk for yourself. ** Changed in: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2061739 Title: crash in meta_wayland_transaction_commit To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/2061739/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2028891] Re: HTTP boot grub issue
Hi, I tested this with latest ubuntu 22.04 snapshot, and the issue still occurs. I was able to workaround it by replacing grub on http server from the one from Mantic Minotaur (grub-efi-arm64-signed_1.197+2.12~rc1-10ubuntu4_arm64.deb). Are there any plans of fixing that in near future?
