If you use Google Calendar, I recommend to use Reykjavik, Iceland or

It is a known bug that we hopefully can fix - problem is, the developers

Here's Allan's post on the feature:
http://afaikblog.wordpress.com/2013/08/31/feature-focus-gnome-3s-new-system-status-area/

Second to last paragraph, he mentions the new bugzilla component and
invites feedback on it. So, register any issues you have with it there,
and maybe you'll help improve it in future iterations.

Issue with the Beta 1 on a Dell XPS13 + UEFI + Win8

2013-09-07 Thread Romuald TISSERAND
Hi, as I wrote on G+, I'm facing lot of issues with this beta.
I need to make a double boot with Windows 8. And as I read UEFI is now well
supported by Ubuntu, I setup my PC Bios to use UEFI (SecureBoot is
disabled).

I used the Rufus software to burn a UEFI compliant USB Key with UG 13.10
Beta.

First issue : the USB key starts in UEFI but the display (HD4000) is not
correctly managed, then the PC is not usable. Bios setup to start in Legacy
mode, the LiveCD starts well.

Once started (so in Legacy mode), if I double click on "Install Ubuntu
Gnome", nothing happens at all. I don't know the command to launch it in a
terminal.

Another issue: I started directly to "Install Ubuntu Gnome". The GUI starts
well, but I connect to my Wifi network. If I click on its name, nothing
happens. This works well if I just start on the LiveCD. -> I restarted the
process and was able to launch correctly Ubiquity but directly by choosing
"Directly install..." at boot.

As the SSD is UEFI, Ubuntu doesn't detect Windows, I guess this is normal,
but any documentation pointer to deal with would be great.

And what about gnome extension if we enable gnome 3.10 ? It will be the
same mess as when we switch from 3.6 to 3.8 ? Will we have to wait
extension developers upgrade to the new API (even if most of the time it's
only about adding 3.10 in metadata.json...).

 Thank you guys !

Re: Gnome 3.10 in 13.10 ?

2013-09-07 Thread HadiM
Last thing: I really don't like the icons merge on the upper right of the
desktop. That totally counter productive cuz now I can't easly access to
sound options or change screen brightness quickly with scroll without any
click... They really should let user to choice between merge or no merge.

Anyway I know this is a gnome team choice and it is nothing to do with you
guys but I just wanted to let you know :-D

Re: Gnome 3.10 in 13.10 ?

2013-09-07 Thread HadiM
Ok. I just tried ppa staging on 13.10 and gnome seems to work fine BUT none
extensions are working. I guess only because 3.9.91 (actual dev 3.10
version) are not in metadata.json of extensions. I could change it manually
and try extensions one by one but I didnt want to... So I purge ppa staging
and I am know back to initial Ubuntu Gnome 13.10 with gnome3 ppa.

So I ask again: will Ubuntu Gnome team planned to switch from 3.8 to 3.10
in stable gnome3 ppa ?

PS: take care if you purge ppa staging on 13.10, ubuntu-gnome-desktop and
network-manager was removed during purge... I had to manually setup a wired
connection on console to be able to reinstall these two packages.

2013-09-07 Thread Alfredo Hernández
In 13.04 I have used it since the fresh install and I haven't experienced
any issue.
Using it or not is at your will.

Lots of extensions are already updated, AFAIK.

Gnome 3.10 in 13.10 ?

2013-09-07 Thread HadiM
Hello,

I saw gnome 3.10 packages in ppa staging but I am not certain it's very
safe to use this ppa for daily usage. I know Ubuntu won't bring Gnome 3.10
in 13.10 but I would like to know if Ubuntu Gnome team planned to bring it
in gnome 3 ppa ?

And what about gnome extension if we enable gnome 3.10 ? It will be the
same mess as when we switch from 3.6 to 3.8 ? Will we have to wait
extension developers upgrade to the new API (even if most of the time it's
only about adding 3.10 in metadata.json...).

Thank you guys !

How about 20:00 UTC 3rd Monday of each month. That would make the
first meeting Sep 16!
